Alexander the Great is undoubtedly one of the most famous leaders and Kings in our history. This one man miraculously led his armies into countless battles and created an empire nearly as large as the Roman Empire. Men and women all over the world have clearly heard of the amazing things that Alexander accomplished in his times; however, the question of whether his deeds were heroic or villainous still remains. To answer this question, Alexander the Great was unmistakably a villain.
Although several people may disagree, these achievements and intelligence lead to great success. For example, against Porus and his army, Alexander puzzled the elephants causing them to stampede and kill Porus’s army. Also, in eleven years Alexander conquered 2,200,000 square miles of land at the age of twenty. Nobody can do this any day and Alexander showed his ability to persevere through tough times. Ultimately, when thinking of great names in history, remember Alexander the Great and all his great accomplishments because nobody has been able to conquer so much land in such a short amount of time with little rest and so much confidence in any
Few historical figures stand out in the same degree as that of Alexander the Great. He was a warrior by 16, a commander at age 18, and was crowned King of Macedon by the time he was 20 years old. He did things in his lifetime that others could only dream about. Alexander single-handedly changed the nature of the ancient world in just over a decade. There were many attributes that made Alexander “Great.” He was a brilliant strategist and an inspired leader; he led by example and was a conqueror at heart. In looking at his early childhood, accession to the throne, conquests, marriage, and death one can see why Alexander the Great is revered in historical contexts as one of the greatest figures of all time.
Alexander The Great , With the courage of a tiger and the ferocity of a Lion, Alexander III swept through Eastern Europe and Asia. Alexander the Great as he would be called was believed to a descendant of the God's! He was a military genius because his battles throughout Asia Minor, against Darius, the King of the Empire of Persia, would bring him fame, fortune, and eternal glorification as the greatest king to have ruled in all of history. The Macedonian king's level of intelligence, the amount of land that he acquired, and the fact that he was a military genius, is some of the most important aspects to the life of Alexander the Great.
There is no one description of Alexander the Great, he has become for modern and ancient writers an astonishing man from Macedon, who was a controversial, yet admirable ruler of the largest empire of the known ancient world. The fascination and relevance of Alexander in the contemporary world have proven to be a reflection of his extraordinary successes, which has led to a strong debate on whether Alexander’s epithet as “The Great” is at all an indication of his achievements.
Several United States presidents are controversial topics, possibly one of the utmost controversial is the 7th president, Andrew Jackson. Many writers will argue that he is one of the worst presidents and also a scumbag. I understand that others may have that opinion of him as a result of information they are given. They are told about his actions, but not entirely what he meant by such actions. Andrew Jackson worked for the citizens of the United States and wanted nothing other than to keep order and remodel the best of the situation they were in at the time. I’m here to argue today that he is not a scumbag, and when you actually take a deeper look into the information given, such as; he favored the common people, and wanted to give freedom
The first matter to consider is what constitutes “greatness”. There are no set standards no checklist, to apply to a person, to determine it they are “great.” The simplest way that I could conceive to decide whether this title should apply to Alexander was to determine if he was, in some way, superior to the rulers that came before or after his reign. The most obvious place for me to start my consideration is with Alexander’s vast accomplishments as a conquerer.
There are a plethora of historical figures in history, but some of these figures are more acknowledged and discussed about than others. One of these prominent historical figures include Alexander the III, also known as Alexander the Great. There is no question that Alexander is famous for his undefeated streak during his military campaigns. However, many historians are in constant debate over whether or not Alexander was truly a military leader that deserved to be a highly prominent figure in history. They dispute over whether or not he is entitled to his nick name of Alexander the Great. Some historians argue that Alexander’s constant victories on the battle field provide more than enough reason for Alexander to be deemed great. The opposing
Imagine weighing your attributes. On one side is the thought process or contemplation attribute, and on the other is the take action or compulsive side. What way is your scale tipping? During this book Aristotle is brought to help teach young Alexander, not yet Alexander the Great, about contemplation since Alexander will take over the empire from his father, Phillip of Macedon. Aristotle will have to set aside his own priorities and help Alexander realize being a leader is not always act first and ask questions later. Throughout the book the reader will come to realize what has happened in each of their lifetimes that has great affected them and who they have become. The relationship between this student and teacher in this certain situation
The Greek mercenaries in the Persian army took advantage of the gap. Alexander quickly encircled the Greek mercenaries and cut them down. The Persian right flank upon seeing this turned and fled. The quick thinking and strategic thinking of Alexander were what led to his success, he utilized his army in the way that would most likely ensure victory, and he took part in the crucial manoeuvres that led to victory in the battle. Furthermore, during the overwhelming of the Persian left flank, the Persian King fled the battle.
Does Alexander The Great deserve his title as the great? Some historians say yes, and some historians say no. This is a highly debated topic even today. I feel that Alexander did deserve his title as the great. Sure he may have some flaws but who doesn't? There is nobody that has ever lived that has been perfect. Overall he was an astonishing person. I felt he deserved his title because he was a war genius, he had extended his empire, and he left a legacy on generations after his death. Even though it is possible to find flaws in the God like figure, his achievements and legacy weighs to heavily on our view of him today; enough to the point where we can not challenge his greatness.
Alexander the Great, son of King Philip II of Macedonia, underwent a journey of overwhelming odds. Alexander led his army through multiple victories across the Persian territories of Asia Minor, Syria and Egypt without the agony of a single defeat. A noteworthy battle of Alexander was the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 B.C.E. The Battle of Gaugamela is significant because it ended Darius’s rule over Persia. [new par.] There are several forces and factors that contribute in making Alexander the Great superior as a leader. Alexander’s battlefield achievement is a result of his early prestige education and upbringing. Privately tutored by Aristotle, an epic Greek philosopher and scientist, Alexander was educated in philosophy, ethics, politics, and healing, all which play key roles in Alexander’s future life story. The education and hardship Alexander the Great faced in his early life helped to prepare him for his role as a great General.
