As a Chemistry teacher at Vantage Career Center, I have the pleasure of having Alexa Plescher during the current school year.
I have only known Alexa for a couple months, but I have learned she is one of the hardest working students I have ever known. She is always striving to receive top honors and works hard to get them. Alexa is able to keep straight A’s in all her classes and work a nearly fulltime job outside of school at the Sarah Jane Living Center in Delphos. Alexa is also very intelligent young lady and when things don’t come easily to her, she studies and works until she does understands. She is receiving straight A’s in chemistry and is one of the top students of the class. Alexa is also very punctual; she gets all of her worked
The earliest member of the Bohrer Family, of which we can locate on records, was a man named Abraham Bohrer. He was born in Germany on December 14, 1717. He had a wife, Anna Lucy Schuster, and four children all by the name of “John.” They boarded an unidentified immigration boat and docked in Baltimore, Maryland on September 11, 1750. His occupation was a farmer and hoped for a better life and in search for religious freedom. He died on October 12, 1759. He was just 42.
Yes, Reconstruction was doomed to fail. The first reason for this was that Lincoln started a plan or policy for Reconstruction before the Civil War was over (page 792 of our assigned readings). Lincoln said that "he intended to to deal with the defeated South "with malice toward none" and "charity for all" to "achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves (Page 792 of our assigned readings)."" The first problem with this thought is that who knows how the war would play out? Yes, Lincoln believed that this proposition would help end the war, but was that a good time to begin Reconstruction? Before the war even ended? Lincoln's plan eventually angered many Radical Republicans, and that is how the Wade-Davis Bill was introduced.
Helene Melanie Lebel, one of two daughters born to a Jewish family, was raised as a Catholic in Vienna. Her father died during World War I when Helene was only 5 years old, and when Helene was 15, her mother remarried. Helene entered law school, but at age 19, she started showing signs of an illness. By 1935, her illness became so bad severe that she had to give up her law studies. Helene was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and was placed in Vienna’s Steinhof Psychiatric Hospital. Although her condition improved in 1940, Helene was forced to stay in Steinhof. Her parents believed she would soon be released, but in August, her mother was informed that Helene was transferred to Niedernhart. She was actually transported to Brandenburg, Germany where she was led into a gas chamber or room? disguised as a shower room, and was gassed to death. Helene was listed as dying in her room of “acute schizophrenic excitement”.
Born in Toronto, Canada in 1995 was a girl who was constantly screaming and flailing her limbs around, however she was always completely silent. She would always be screaming and flailing about, but no one understood why. One day at a doctor’s appointment her parents were told that Carly’s intelligence would not surpass one of a 6-year-old child. At the tender age of two Carly Fleischmann, was diagnosed with autism. She was unable to speak from her mouth at all.

On June 20th, 2001 in a small, suburban household in Houston, TX, Andrea Yates drowned her five children in a bathtub after her husband left for work. The crime is unimaginable, yes, but the history leading up to the crime is just as important to the story. Andrea Yates childhood, adulthood, and medical history are all potent pieces of knowledge necessary to understanding the crime she committed.

Alonza Thomas jr grew up in Bakersfield California. Alonza played football growing and was always looking out for his younger brother. Alonzo's mother was working two jobs and was also working on getting her education which was taking her out of home and away from her boys for long periods of time. Alonza Thomas jr ran away from home at the age of fifteen and the stayed with a man at the man's home. The man fed and gave Alonza shelter for free. One day Alonza told the man he was going home the man was angry and came back with a gun and said you have to do something for me first as payment for food and shelter. The man told Alonza to rob a convenience store the man told Aloza if he robs the store successfully he will give Alonza a cut of the money (Stickup Kid).
A Teacher and school administer who was regarded, as the first African American female to receive a PhD in psychology was Inez Prosser. Prosser started a college fund to support her younger siblings educations. Prosser graduated assaulted from Yoakum colored high school in 1912, and then received a degree, in training from Prairie View normal college.
On November 17, 1942 Evelyn and John VandenBosch gave birth to their first daughter, Yvonne VandenBosch. She was born in Butterworth Hospital located in the growing city of Grand Rapids, Michigan but that was not home for long. Alice Paul was born January 11, 1885 in New Jersey. She had 4 siblings and she was the oldest of them. Mother was Tracie Paul and her father was Mickle Paul. She was a part of a household that was raised in the Quaker tradition. “Quaker is a Christian movement which professes the priesthood of all believers. They include those with evangelical, holiness, liberal, and conservative understanding of Christianity. The Religious Society of friends avoids creeds and hierarchical structures.” Quaker was a view of recognizing that women are separate people from men. Tracie, her mother was a member of the National American Woman Suffrage Association and Alice’s father would at times join her mother. Tiana has many positive attributes towards school and learning, she is always well focused, hard working, committed to her school work as well as challenging herself. She is capable towards self motivation and has a willingness to research and investigate a new mindsets about learning, which makes her independent, competent and a very capable student.
Elizabeth Glaser took a stand for the research and prevention of AIDS by founding the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, fundraising money for research grants and spreading the awareness of AIDs. Elizabeth Glaser was a mother of two, she studied at the University of Wisconsin and Boston University and she worked as a teacher and director at the Los Angeles Children's Museum. She was married to Paul Michael Glaser an actor and director. She Founded the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation when she lost her daughter to AIDS. These actions resulted in the research of AIDS and how to prevent it.
Golda Meir was a woman with a lifelong commitment and an unfailing dedication in bringing her dream to a reality. Her dream was for Israel to be a safe homeland for the Jewish nation, including the Zionist Movement, which she wanted people to clearly understand. Zionism served as a strong belief that the Jews should gain their fatherland in Israel that they had lost to the Romans in 70 A.D. Golda Meir never lost sight of this goal, and did countless things for Israel. If only we could have her compassion, strength, courage and intelligence- then would we all be able to make such a perpetual effect on the world’s countries as she did.
Mary is very active in school activities such as clubs and softball and tennis. She is very coordinated in her sports and also very fast. Mary was just offered a full scholarship to play tennis at State University.
