Aldo Teo Donelli, also known as a”Buff” was born on July 22, 1907 in
Pennsylvania. He retrieved the nickname, “Buff” from his favorite showman “Buffalo” Bill Cody. Struggling with money and being raised by mother Dolores Donelli, Aldo started taking soccer seriously at fifteen years old with the team Morgan FC. At just 15 years
old Aldo Donelli joined the Morgans Strasser FC of Pennsylvania , PA for seven Seasons. After the end of the 7 seasons , he played with the Curry Silver Tops. Because of this, he was chosen out of 18 players for the Men's National Team. They would travel to Italy for the 1934 World Cup and this is where his recognition would start. This phenomenal team would make it up to the finals. There he would lose against Italy

7-1, but Buff scored the only goal against them. This will go down in history because Italy was undefeated in goals for over 50 years. The lack of money did not deter Donelli from working very hard and giving his best .Even though he took soccer seriously, from age 15 Aldo slowed down after a short while and went to Duquesne College to be a football player.
He was very good in that too. If there is one thing we should take from Aldo, it should be his perseverance. Even though he almost didn't start the game in soccer against Italy in the World Cup, on the urging of Billy Gonsalves, the team’s biggest star, ‘Buff’ was included in the starting line-up. Gonsalves knew what no one else did – ‘Buff’ could score.” He would always give his best and find a way to score. He was so impressive in the two games with Mexico and Italy that he was offered a contract after the World Cup from Lazio, one of the top professional clubs in Italy. But, Donelli would pass on the offer and the USA’s loss to Italy which was the worst loss in World Cup history would be Donelli’s last match as he retired from international play. He ended his career with five goals in two games. Donelli, who almost didn’t start for the U.S., still holds the most lethal strike rate of any player in U.S. Soccer history, almost 70 years later. Donelli was also the first man ever to score four goals in one game .These four goals benefited the team kicking Mexico out before advancing to
Italy. While attending Duquesne University, Donelli was trying to get in as many hours of football and soccer as possible. He played for the schools American football team every Saturday and committed time to amateur soccer every Sunday. There was always something he could do. There is always room for improvement. Aldo Donelli took his life choices very seriously. He wanted to help others, even in another sport no matter what the result was. He was still able to coach some of the best football players there were after his soccer career . He was the starting halfback and punter when he was in college After college, Aldo Donelli became a football coach. He coached the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. Back from 1941-1944, these teams were not being shined upon in a positive light. His NFL record as a coach was 4-11. Retiring in that same year, Donelli joined the U.S Navy and World War II In 1945. But for the next 20 years up to 1967, Aldo would go back to coaching in football In time, Donelli settled down to have a family. He had a wife, a son named Richard and a daughter named Melinda. Aldo Donelli had to learn that you don't always have to be number one as long as you get to where you want to be eventually. But unfortunately, Aldo Donelli came to die from aplastic anemia a disease preventing his body to produce blood cells. He bequeathed his money to his siblings and grandchildren in his will. A great leader to soccer and football history will dearly be missed, but his legacy lives on and on. Works Cited "90-Year Anniversary Articles: Aldo 'Buff' Donelli." U.S. Soccer. AT&T, n.d. His mother was born to Italian immigrants while his father was an immigrant from Messina. He was sent to a reformatory for attempting robbery, where he learned Boxing. He began to wrestle professionally at the age of 19, in 1941.
It is a long-with-standing stereotype that Italians love to gamble. This is true. My great grandfather, Pasquale Giovannone, played the riskiest hand of cards when he immigrated to the United States as an illegal stowaway at the age of thirteen. He forged a life for himself amidst the ever-changing social and political shifts of the early nineteenth century. The legacy he left would later lead to the birth of my father, John Giovannone, in Northern New Jersey in 1962.

Once Joe was in highschool he stared in every sport but football, he could dunk a basketball and hit the baseball very far, but he never really stood out in football (Wiener 17). Well, until his sophomore year of high school Joe finally got to play some, he went in only in situations where they were getting beat bad. A few games that year they would put joe in when they were down a lot and he drives
Giuseppe Rossi is a controversial figure in American soccer circles. His decision to play for the nation of his heritage rather than the one of his birth angered many American fans. Others are so adamant that it does not bother them, it is obvious it does. Some take pride in the fact that an American is making his mark at the top level. Others dismiss his American connection, as though any pre-teen who went to Parma would have turned into a star.
Messi became the player he is today after being in an environment that allowed him to practice and reach the ten thousand hour rule with top coaches, players, and facility in the world. Born in Padua, Palladio trained as a stonemason moving to Vicenza in 1524 to continue his training. Giangiorgio Trissino (1478-1550), his patron, introduced him to classical and humanist studies and took him on his first trip to Rome – where he later spent two years studying. His architectural development was deeply influenced by this direct study of Roman antiquity.
