Alcohol has the tendency to be a cause of death for a lot of people. The consumption of alcohol can also have a consequence on your brain and it can also kill parts of your brain cells. Inspite of the bad effects of alcohol the minimum legal age for drinking alcohol should be lowed from 18 to 16. Many people can stop drinking after one or two beers or glasses of wine, vodka, whiskey, or other alcoholic beverages. Some people, however, can't stop, and are at great risk of alcoholism.
What is more is that alcohol consumption can cause your liver to depreciate and not function appropriately. Liver transplants are not easy to take place and they rarely take place. Even if it does take place it is hard for a person with liver transplant to survive for too long. Even though it is general knowledge that alcohol consumption has the tendency to kill people, still there are millions of people who consume great amounts of alcohol on daily basis. Motor vehicle crashes, alcoholic poisoning, violence, and addiction are just some of the ways children are being devastated by the inappropriate and illegal use of alcohol. The drinking age is 18 because our government decided that when one becomes 18, one is magically transformed into a responsible person capable of handling the burden that comes with the right to consume alcohol. Why enact laws to prohibit an act that will be ignored. The opposition may say that the higher drinking age discourage teenagers and young adults from consuming alcohol. They believe this will make it virtually impossible for people under 18 to drink alcohol. Undoubtedly, teens are able to get it through their parent’s own liquor cabinets or older friends who purchase it for them. As we all see, is not hard for teens to obtain alcohol.
