Ageing population is a demographic problem that it is caused by the population which is getting older. The proportion of the different age groups is unbalanced that the phenomenon which are youngsters are fewer than elderly. It comes as no surprise, the health care system is being optimised, which provides better medical service, improving human life expectancy age. It is the biggest improvement in our world and the world is a better place to live in which demonstrate the success of human revolution. Nevertheless, the fertility has not risen as being a regardless issue. The social trend of the motivation of having children is declining. In addition, certain developed countries have legislated the one child policy that it accelerates the nightmare. …show more content…
Hence, ageing problem could be a severe blow to an economic system; for instance, the human resource would slightly be diminished. In order to facilitate the economy, people would be likely to conduct the varieties of product and to supply goods to consumers, the aim is to achieve higher goals and gain more income. If the demographic problem is deteriorating, the economic system must be affected by lacking of human resource and decreasing of consumption. Even though the medical system is nearly perfect, it still needs funds to maintain and enhance the level of the medical service. There is a list of projects that need support in financial way, which are the educational purpose and facilities build, is a necessary payment. The financial burden of the government is confessedly escalating. There is not only a burden of developing the medical system, but also the infrastructure is also needed; such as, nursing home and the public facilities for elderlies. There is a possibility that the shortage of the medical services supply would likely to emerge in the forthcoming future. The quantity of elderly is growing that currently we could fulfil the demand of the medical service, but it is hard to ensure that the medical service can be satisfied the order in the future; hence, more health care service is indeed needed in future. Besides, we have been concerned that the expenditure on the elderlies, and the proportion between youngster and elderly. Last but not least, the revenue to the government is the instantly issue also need to be considered. Reducing production and eliminating general income, the power of the consumption would likely decline correspondingly. Therefore, the amount of taxes to government must decrease. The majority of the people agree with the reason that ageing problem cause catastrophic consequence to society and it would be
Within the U.S. Healthcare system there are different levels of healthcare; Long-Term Care also known as (LTC), Integrative Care, and Mental Health. While these services are contained within in the U.S. Healthcare system, they function on dissimilar levels.
In elderly population most of the research carried out so far emphasizes on the functional problems and diseases. When it comes to successful aging elderly (SEA), it has been recommended that health status should be used to distinguish between elderly subgroups populace and disease-free people possible describe successful aging elderly (SAE).
Feng Wang and Cai Yong stated that the fertility rate was already declining and the policy wasn’t necessary for the Chinese people, especially because of the enormous costs. The fertility rate, which is the number of children the average woman has in her lifetime, in China started at 2.7 in 1979 and decreased to 1.7 in 2008. The article “China’s One Child Policy at 30” argued that the policy did not need to be introduced in China because the rates were already lower than Brazil at 4.2 and Thailand at 3.6.
A nursing home is another form of care and this involves an elderly person moving from their home to a building full of all amentities necessary for living well. The only downside to nursing homes is that they are the most exepnsive alternative and that there is a large waiting list for getting into one. In 2010, the Ontario Health Quality council reported, “wait times for a long-term care bed in Ontario have tripled since 2005” (Born, 2011). A nursing home has become a last resort because of these reasons and we need to do everything in our power to alleviate the amount of demand for these nursing homes.
Within business organizations, aging is something that is inevitable and unique to all people. Business practices need to be in the best interest of an organization, which is also inclusive to the employees, stakeholders, and customers in which they rely on and cater to. Best business practices, both directed and implied (regardless of the location) dictates that businesses follow and adhere to federal, state, city, and other local policies. However we needn’t look too far to see the multiple lawsuits that show continued and practiced bias and prejudice. One such incident involving discriminatory practices involving ageism that will be discussed within this discussion will revolve around a Texas Roadhouse restaurant based in Palm Bay, Florida.
An aging population is indeed a problem for the society and will possibly cause many social and economic difficulties in the future. According to David Foot (2003), professor of Economics at University of Toronto, an effective birth rate of 2.2% against current 1.75% will be necessary to replace the current work force in the near future and the government’s policy of bringing in more immigrants will eventually fail (Foot, 2003, 2). However some people predict that the increased size of an aging population will drive growth in the home, health care, and many other industries resulting in job creation and economic growth (Marketwire, 2013, 1). Majority of the people are of the opinion that the issue will be mainly in the health care and economic activity. As humans age, they start to develop health problems, leading to more visits to a medical clinic putting extra burden on health care system.
However, with these high demands, there are a number of workforce shortages across the health-care system. Our ageing population is already placing a large strain on the health system and its services through to their consent use and access. There has been more of an inclusion in specialised health services such as GPs, specialists, primary health services (at home nursing, hospitals, ambulance) and basic accommodation and living environments for those who require it. Through implementing these strategies, although it may be helping, it is also causing quite a significant plunge within positions in the workforce. This further places a strain on the health system, as there aren’t enough people to perform these duties. Having the aged more dependent on these workers, it is something that the government and education programs should look to in order to meet these demands for workforce shortages, ensuring that there are enough qualified personnel within aged health-care. The Australian Government has put in place certain systems and strategies, which help to provide care and support for the aged. Some of which may include the National Strategy for an Ageing Australia. The system focuses solely on addressing the disadvantages faced by the group. It looks into income
China’s communist party created this policy in 1979 and has prevented over 400 million births with the use of forced abortions and sterilizations like Uzbekistan. In January of 2016, this policy has been changed into a two-child policy due to a realization that there can be an economic consequence to the failing birth-rate. Also, due to the fact that couples can only have one child, the future of China’s population can be a burden. Researchers stated, “The graying population will burden health care and social services, and the world’s second-largest economy will struggle to maintain its growth (Jiang, Steven)”. With the lack of production for more newborns, the population will gradually have a majority of elderly people within their society. The new population policy made add an increase in population, but it still puts a limit on the population. If couples had this policy lifted, it can make the overpopulation problem occur again. Therefore, this transition from one child to two children helps balance out under-population and overpopulation in
One of the most important concerns that not only the certain region or country but the whole globe is facing with is the societal aging. Societal aging refers to the “social and demographic process that result in the aging of a population” Aging of the population would impact different aspect of social life. For instance, as the baby boomers aging, the evolvement of those generation in different community would increase. Also, the expectation of better healthcare and ethical issues around the aged people has grown (Morgan & Kunkle 2016: 6).
As the population of the United States ages and lifespan increases, the U.S. is being faced with challenges that could either hurt the country or benefit it if plans are executed correctly. By the year 2050, more than thirty-two million Americans will be over the age eighty and the share of the 80-plus generation will have doubled to 7.4 percent. Health care and aging population has become a great deal considering the impact it is having on the U.S. The United States is heading into another century with an outstanding percentage of people within the aging population. Today’s challenges involving health care and the aging populations are the employees of health professions being a major percentage of the aging population, the drive into debt, and prevention and postponement of disease and disability.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 is an act that was passed that clearly states that employers can’t be discriminate against someone based on their age 40 and older. The older adults are trying so hard to hold onto their jobs with dear life, because if not they will be nudged out and pushed aside. Not because of anything but rather because of their age. Age discrimination is on the rise as young as 50 years old. Age discrimination can happen to anyone regardless of your race, ethnic backgrounds or sexual orientation. A study was published in the Journal of Age Ageing and in the report it said that British People 50 years old and older faces discrimination about one third of them. In a resent survey older adults says job insecurity

Fertility is one of the main issues discussed when talking about the demography of the United States. The U.S. economy plays a rather large role in the rising and falling patterns of the country’s fertility rate. In many past occurrences of economic hardship in the country fertility levels had decreased. One of the main reasons for that being in times of financial struggle, men and women are less likely to want to have children. Being able to support a family is already a difficult task but when people are getting laid off from jobs, unemployment rates are increasing, and the economy is struggling many people can barely afford to buy necessities for themselves never mind for an entire family. An extended decrease in fertility levels could have hugely negative effects on the country’s demography. Lower fertility rates mean less babies being born which in turn decreases the younger age population while the aging population slowly increases. This is one of the main issues with low fertility because it does not evenly decrease the country’s population.
Instead of a simple mindset of just having a stable family, the younger generations are pursuing their education followed by careers, placing them as their main priority in life. The mindset of getting married is no longer an essential, let alone, bearing children. These young people are striving for higher positions with better incomes, starting a family would only hinder their goals and empty their wallets in such a country as Singapore with high standards of living. Overall, this makes it extremely hard for the government to counter the problem of the aging population through the means of increase
Since the beginning of mankind, we have reached many great achievements. We have developed many technologies and theories to solve and explain many of our questions and to improve human life. Through our years of evolution, we have severely increased our own survivability. This has been a great achievement for us, but in the recent decade, overpopulation is becoming a great issue. In the recent years, the rapid increase in population growth has troubled many in the field of political sciences. Scientists like Ehrlich have calculated and expected our population to grow even faster if we do not act upon the increasing rate of population growth. The birth rate of our planet is increasing exponentially, meaning that the birth rate has surpassed the death rate and that the rate of growth will only increase if left alone. The politics of population is a debate that involves both the fields of sciences and moral and ethical considerations. Science may provide an insight of
