The time between 1500 and 1800 was a time of mass transformation in the western world. This transformation is known for major changes in religion, political views, economic practices, and cultural differences, we call this time period, the Age of Absolutism. Throughout our textbook, all the chapters we have read have focused on different major aspects of this time period. In this essay, I will explain using examples from the book and discussions to describe the major events that made a large impact on the Age of Absolutism. A major way the western world changed during this time, was politically. One man who was a major influencer of political changes was Louis XIV. He was the longest-reigning ruler in European history, as the king of France, he imposed “absolute” rule in France. The Enlightenment was a great influencer of all things culturally and generated a great interest in the arts. Painters, musicians, composers, and many other forms of art became widely popular throughout the western world. This classical movement of the Enlightenment “reflected both the cult of sensibility and the classicizing styles in the visual arts”. However, culture changed through ideology of Romanticism, which was a cultural movement that started as a rebellion by the arts. This rebellion included writer, painters, and composers and was started because the creators wanted to do their own thing, not just what the higher class wanted.
