Age plays a major role in overall mental maturity. In the short story, “Where are you going, Where have you been” by Joyce Carol Oates, describes how a young naïve teenage girl gets herself in a peculiar situation. The fifteen-year-old girl meets a few older guys that appear to look younger but are not. Connie experiences a traumatic moment when she encounters an older stalker and doesn’t know what to do. At that moment, Connie was easily manipulated and persuaded. As a growing teenager, she yearned for the attention of older guys; which put her in situations in which she was not mature enough to understand what was happening. This story portrays a level of slut shaming, because Connie felt she had to look a certain way to be noticed

Within this study, author assumes that there is a relationship between parenting styles and parent-child attachment, it was predicted that when a child is raised with a healthy parenting style and a secure parent-child attachment, attachment anxiety would be absent within a relationship. Evidence, when study performed, clearly supported that secure parenting styles and authoritative parenting styles did account for an absence of attachment anxiety within a relationship. However, study performed was limited in having a variety of culture; attachment varies in each culture and due to this, study may have a limiting result and may not apply to a general population.

And “Age mixing, allows younger people to engage and learn from older aged-mates.” The age mixing isn’t just true with young children, it is true in the work force as well. When a responsible young individual joins the work force, they want to learn, but the older more experienced will not work with the “minor’s” due to the false understanding that a minor is lazy, childish, and doesn’t have a work
