Against Animal Experimentation
Imagine having a headache and not having aspirin to take, or being diabetic and not being able to take certain types of insulin (Williams 3). It seems impossible that these drugs could be unavailable to humans, but they would not be attainable had scientists not tested these drugs on non-animal subjects. Contrary to what many people believe, testing drugs on animals often give defective results. “More than 205,000 new drugs are marketed worldwide every year, most undergo the most archaic and unreliable testing methods still in use: animal studies” (PETA 1). Although animals may seem the like ideal specimens for testing new drugs, the experiments are untrustworthy and can cause unknown side effects.
Research on animals is deemed necessary to develop vaccines, treatments, and cures for diseases and to ensure that new products are safe for humans to use. “The development of immunization against such diseases as polio, diphtheria, mumps, measles, rubella, pertussis, and hepatitis all involved research on animals […]” (AMPEF 1). Scientists have found many drugs by means of animal experimentation. To some people, animals are viewed as better test subjects than anything else. Scientists can control many aspects in an animal’s life such as their diet, the temperature, lighting, environment, and more. Animals are biologically similar, but not identical to humans and can form some of the same health problems. When these health problems are injected into an animal it can have the same physical reactions as a human could.

Experimenting on animals, to some, is important if humans want to continue with improving our medical advances (AMPEF 1).
Although animals have helped form useful medicines for humans like anesthesia, they have also helped put dangerous drugs on the market (AMPEF 1). Practolol, a drug for heart disorders that passed animal test was pulled off the shelves when the drug caused blindness in people. Also, arsenic, which is toxic and causes cancer in humans, has not caused cancer in any animals that were tested (PETA 1).
“According to the General Accounting Office, more than half of the prescription drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) between 1976 and 1985 caused serious side effects that later caused the drugs to be either relabeled or removed from the market. Drugs app...

... are many other ways to get the same results as humans receive from animal experiments. These methods are viewed as more moral, practical, effective, and less expensive, why wouldn’t we use these methods? By using these methods, scientists were able to invent aspirin and certain types of insulin (Williams 3). Although animals may seem like the ideal specimen for experimenting with, these experiments are untrustworthy and can cause unknown side effects.

To conclude, the nineteenth century represented a significant increase in slave resistance in Florida. It was a powerful movement through this time. As noted early the Indian Removal Act, racial collaborations between the Red Sticks and Africans, and the legacies of writing of the African American history all led up to the increase in the slave resistance. This time was a troublesome time to all that was involved. The events that took place during this time are significant events that would never be forgotten. Without these struggles people wouldn’t have the freedom that they do today. To know what has taken place back in history makes one appreciate life that much more. Without these significant events who knows how life would be in today’s time.
Some civilians treat veterans well while others treat veterans poorly. I know that there are many businesses, for instance Wal-Mart, that has a program for hiring veterans. I think that there are many pros and cons to hiring veterans. I know that many veterans obtain useful skills while serving in the armed forces. Many include being punctual. I always arrive anywhere I am at or try to be fifteen minutes early. I know that I have learned a great work ethic while I was serving, I never give up on anything and I always try to complete the task. I think I possess great leadership skills while serving so I believe that hiring veterans is a great decision but with all the pros there are always cons too. I believe that an education aspect may play a role as being a con. A soldier must go through many different types of training although may not have all the knowledge of the schooling that pertains to a specific job but may have enough training to work in a position. I also believe that a con may come into an aspect of the silent disability or commonly known as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is common, and the veteran may be able to withstand or keep enough composure for and interview but may not have the ability to complete a specific job. For instance, I have much training in firearms, military tactics, and laws but I do not believe being a police office would be the best job for me due to other events that has happened to me in
Animal experimentation is not as good as it may seem to humans because we are not feeling it. It is cruel to animals to experience this. Many experts say is the only way to make new medicine, but you have to think about the animal. Many people don't even know what happens during experimentation on animals.
Animals have always held a very special place in the hearts of the human race. They are our best friends, our stress relievers, members of our families, and our test subjects for experimentation. For hundreds of years, animals have been used in laboratory settings as a replacement for humans when studying the effects of medical treatments. On average, nearly one hundred million animals are used in clinical trials every year (Ferdowsian). These animals have contributed to hundreds of breakthroughs in the medical field including countless toxicity tests to determine drug toxicity to humans, and exposure to paralyzing anesthetics to create anesthesia used in surgical procedures today. These animals have been vital
There are several federal laws that provide important protections for veterans with disabilities who are looking for jobs or are already in the workplace. Those two laws are Title I part of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). These two Acts help to protect veterans from employment discrimination. Title I of the ADA, prohibits private, state and local government employers with 15 or more employees from discriminating against individuals on the basis of disability. USERRA has requirements for reemploying veterans with and without servi...
First, the research pointed out that Venezuela is a very diverse country with its landforms, climate and more! With the Andes Mountains, Angel Falls (largest waterfall in the world), parts of the Amazon Rainforest, Lake Maracaibo (Largest lake in South America), and Guiana Highlands. With over 10,000 rivers covers about one-third of the country. This shows that Venezuela is so different. Although Venezuela is a tropical area its local climates vary with altitude from humid and hot lowlands to cool highlands. With average temperature being around 73.9 degrees and rainfall being about 76.3 mm a year. This country is a very amazing place.
To begin with, animal testing is vital to find out side effects of medicine that should be tested on animals rather than being tested on human begins. According to Archibald (2004), in 1937, in the USA, a drug was distributed in liquid to treat streptococcal infections. Unfortunately, the solvent was diethylene glycol (antifreeze), which was known to be horribly and fatally toxic but drug-safety testing was not required. 137 deaths followed. In addition, animals have saved human lives for decades. Without animal research, many of the diseases would still affect the world today and few cures would be found. According to Emory University, “major medical advances that have resulted from animal research include the treatment of rabies, smallpox, pellagra, and rickets and the discovery of sulfa drugs, penicillin, and other modern antibiotics.” Finally, animal research is continuing to enhance and improve the medical field overall. For example, a new neuroimplant system, the Tulggar, developed to solve the problems with present implants was tested on sheep to ensure the use on living tissue. Without the use of sheep to test this new implant system, the Tulgar would not have been developed and be established as a clinical tool in modern medicine (Kalkan et. Al, 2015). However, even though animal research has been the foundation for medicinal uses, animal rights activists will
With it’s beautiful beaches and gorgeous mountains,Venezuela’s scenery can take you away.Venezuela is located in South America, the Northern coast,to be exact.”The Orinoco river is another important river. It flows through Venezuela to the Carribean sea”(p.195).The main categories when describing a place may include geography, climate, government, economy, culture, and maybe some interesting facts.
According to the majority of the papers reviewed in this paper, veterans are worse off in terms of employment outcome after service compared to their nonveteran counterparts. The results also suggest that job outcomes are worse for female veterans than male veterans. Therefore, the hypothesis of this paper is as follows: female veterans from different eras of conflict or war are unemployed more so than their male counterparts. The formula will be similar to Unemployment Level = B0 + B1Women. The dependent variable is the unemployment level from 2008 to October of 2014 and the independent variable is gender (male = 0 and female = 1). These variables were chosen to measure whether gender negatively affects the veterans’ labor outcome. Having the unemployment levels of veterans of different eras will enable this paper to see whether being a woman decreases one’s chances to obtain a job after deployment. It will also show whether recent veterans are worse off than the older veterans of older wars.
Like normal Americans, we can go walk to the park and go out with our friends, but in Venezuela it is not possible to go out for a stroll with your friends because if you were to go out with your friends you are
Many cures and treatments for illnesses have been created by animal testing for decades. According to the California Biomedical Research Association, many scientific breakthroughs have been recorded by the contribution of animal testing (“Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing?”). Meaning that tactics would have to differ from one area to the other. In the jungle there would be more freedom of maneuver and less concern towards collateral damage compared to the urban centers that have a densely populated areas. Being a modernized country Venezuela has many structures that would have to be taken account for in any operation. It does have the typical high payoff targets such as communication towers (to include radio and internet), power plants, dams, and bridges. Also, all their petroleum mining and refining sites would need to be safeguarded. 70 percent of the country’s GDP is based on exporting oil (Aaron, 2018). Most of the capabilities of Venezuela are state run such as water, sewage, trash, lower education, military, and police (Venezuela, 2018). In the private sector there are some electric companies, universities, medical, and some telecommunications (Venezuela, 2018). In Venezuela there are organizations such as military, police, and other government agencies. The largest organization is the copious amount of street and cartel affiliated gangs. Venezuela has the highest murder rate of any country in Latin America (Aaron, 2018). On top of that there are pro-government para military groups that harass those that would oppose the government (Aaron, 2018). The people of Venezuela are a Spanish speaking with about two thirds of the population having mixed ancestry (Venezuela, 2018). About 96 percent of the population is Roman Catholic (Funk & Wagnalls, 2017). The gap between the middle and upper-class vs the lower class is a huge divide. This is due large economic expansion due to the discovery of rich oil reserves, followed by a steep and continual economic depression (Aaron, 2018). Those that have gotten rich off oil have been able to keep their riches while most of the population is left in poverty and usual resort to crime. Still there is a strong sense of
Every year, millions of animals experience painful, suffering and death due to results of scientific research as the effects of drugs, medical procedures, food additives, cosmetics and other chemical products. Basically, animal experimentation has played a dominant role in leading with new findings and human advantages. Animal research has had a main function in many scientific and medical advances in the past decade and is helping in the understanding of several diseases. While most people believe than animal testing is necessary, others are worried about the excessive suffering of this innocent’s creatures. The balance between the rights of animals and their use in medical research is a delicate issue with huge societal assumptions. Nowadays people are trying to understand and take in consideration these social implications based in animals rights. Even though, many people tend to disregard animals that have suffered permanent damage during experimentation time. Many people try to misunderstand the nature of life that animals just have, and are unable to consider the actual laboratory procedures and techniques that these creatures tend to be submitted. Animal experimentation must be excluded because it is an inhumane way of treat animals, it is unethical, and exist safer ways to test products without painful test.
In majority of the counties in South America the environment to conduct business is very hostile. According to Alexander Monge-Naranjo it is due to the economical position of the counties2. It takes longer to get permits and get access to electricity which makes it harder to do business in some countries in South America. In the chart above it stats how Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico are they only counties where it is reasonably easy to do business. Doing business successfully in a county with the political and economic state of the country. For instance, it is the hardest to introduce a new business in Venezuela due to its corrupt politics and terrible economical state. Venezuela was one of the largest oil producing country with approximately 300 billion barrels3. After 2012 Venezuela’s GDP dropped due to the declining oil prices. It is predicted that Venezuela’s GDP per capita will be around $12,210 by 2022 which will be an enormous setback for its economy4. The potential for international businesses going to Venezuela are very low due to the current economic and political state of the
Animal experimentation may be very harmful to animals and inhumane but it is the only thing right now that is helping to discover new medical advances. Animal experimentation has been used to save many people’s lives and other animal lives. There are many negatives to animal experimentation such as the cost and the treatment of the animals. People are now taking a stand in trying to save and protect the animals.
