Throughout my life, I have constantly been surrounded around cars. I remember in my early years of life, I would have an abundance of Hot Wheels toy cars and going on car rides with my parents, gladly naming the brand and model of every single car that would simmer by. As my high school years started to gradually come to an end I began to wonder what major I would pursue once I graduated. I began to research Aerospace Engineering, and I believed that it was the major I wanted to pursue. Aerospace Engineering was intriguing to me for several reasons; it was intriguing because of the fathomable salary, and because Aerospace Engineering requires one to be a problem solver and great at math. Once my class began the Senior Project, I began researching places that would give me the opportunity to learn about Aerospace Engineering. I eventually found an Aerospace Engineering firm named Absolute Technologies Incorporated that was willing to give me the opportunity I needed. I received many rejections from many shops, and persevered till I found a place willing to guide me, and expose me to automobiles. I realized how I truly wanted to pursue this major in the future because I would have easily given up, and picked a different topic. At my internship I met my mentors Tatsu, Aki, Allen, and Alex who I learned valuable information from, and I was able to get hands on experience repairing Japanese automobiles with their guidance. My mentors were willing to offer me a job once I obtained my license in order to begin my journey in Mechanical Engineering. Everyone at one point has to make a decision on what they want to be when they grow up. For me, that decision came rather unexpectedly and was a result of a new found interest due to self-discovery. It all began when I was around the age of 8 and I watched a documentary on aircraft. It documented all about planes, how they work and the science behind them. I was immediately captivated and gaining all that information as a young child really hit the spot in terms of a new found passion and interest that I could see myself later using. This passion stuck with me ever since as I have spent tons of spare time studying different types of aircraft and collecting model planes. It ultimately helped me with my answer to the question of what I wanted to be when I grew up as being an aeronautical engineer. Since I have been involved in Skyline High Schools STEM academy, my thirst for knowledge regarding spacecraft and spaceflight has fascinated me. The study of objects in deep space or within our own solar system is one of my greatest interests. I constantly find myself tuning in to NASA’s website, or stopping on any SpaceX news items to learn about any new advancements or achievements that have been made in space exploration. Anytime I have been home sick from school, or having free time, I always watch the science channel and learn about the different astronomical phenomena in space. From planetary nebula to neutron stars and black holes, nothing in space has ever been lackluster to me. What intrigues me the most is that behind any important discoveries in space, there is an instrument or spacecraft that has been created with the sole purpose of learning about these extraordinary objects. Unforeseen Conclusions in “The Hitchhiker” Are hitchhikers always out to hurt you? In the story “The Hitchhiker” by Lucille Fletcher, Ronald Adams goes on a road trip to Hollywood. Along the way, he passes the same person waiting beside the road. Adams comes to a conclusion that this man is hitchhiking in peoples’ cars to beat him to different locations. After a few weird incidents, Adams assumes the hiker is out to hurt him.
Some people already know by the age of seven that they want to become a pilot or nurse; others, however, have more difficulties deciding what to do with their future. People who decided to go to a university or college have to make an important choice: what major are they going into? For many people this is a very difficult question. As the statistics show, one out of five students change their major between admission and the first day of classes. Nearly three out of four students change majors at least twice before they graduate. And three out of four college students express uncertainly about their major. These striking results raised some questions for me. Is it really necessary to choose a major? What influence has the choice of a specific major on the student and his or her education? What are the opportunities for the future? And how can these students be helped? Since I am still having trouble choosing a major myself, I decided to do some research on this topic and I hope it will help you a little bit to make the right choice.
After doing research to discover more about Aerospace engineering, I have decided to continue with this field. I know it will greatly benefit the world. Some colleges offer a degree in aerospace engineering; others offer a more generalized engineering degree with some coursework in aerospace engineering. These courses might include aerospace guidance systems, extreme-altitude material science, and the physics of high-altitude radiation. Internships, summer jobs, and any experience in the field are helpful, as entry into this industry is highly competitive. Many aspirants may need to relocate to California, Washington State, or Texas, where the majority of defense industry aerospace work is done, to work for companies such as NASA, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Two years into their job an aerospace engineer can be planning on being Junior members of research staff are swamped with work, both in the lab and in offices, crunching data and organizing research.
I aspire to gain academic and research experience in the area of Aerospace Engineering and I believe that the graduate program in Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technical University in collaboration with TU Munich offers me a good opportunity to learn and work with some of the most renowned faculty in these areas. Introduction I have always been fascinated by space, so limitless, so vast. As I got older I became more interested in our solar system and the thought of sending people to nearby planets, specifically Mars. I decided that not only can I increase my own knowledge about space, I can help other people along the way. This realization has lead me to decide that I want to become an aerospace engineer. I can make the world a better place through innovation and the discovery of new technologies, while at the same time exploring the possibilities of inter-planetary travel.
I have always had an assorted cluster of intellectual interests, but science was a large percentage of those. As experiences and a great deal of knowledge accumulated through the fascinating thirteen years of my life, the pieces that were once an unsolved puzzle began to come together. I realized that I wanted not to be a teacher, a police officer, a CEO of a business industry, but something just as influential as that: a NASA scientist. So I really want to learn more and more about the whole designing side of things. Learning how aircraft moves inside and outside the atmosphere is also another attraction for me. Knowing exactly how to calculate how an aircraft will preform will be another duty of mine. I will also have the ability to run simulations for aircraft and AI controlled aircraft. I can be put in a seat and pilot an aircraft in a simulation to get every factor we need for the autopilot part of things.
