I am pursuing an engineering degree. More specifically I am going to major in Aerospace engineering and Mechanical engineering. I am getting 2 degrees so I have more stability because of the lower number of Aerospace Engineering jobs in the United States. The reason I wish to pursue these is for the interest I have in the subjects underlying these degrees and the challenges I will face. I am pursuing Aerospace Engineering for my interest in the subject, and i’m going to get a Mechanical Engineering to increase my net worth and job security.
As aforementioned I am pursuing engineering after high school. Truly though my dream job would be theoretical physics as I have always looked up to minds such as Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein as the most brilliant of recent times. I do not feel that theoretical physics is a safe job outlet for me after high school as there are not as many job openings for it as engineering. The part of theoretical physics that really sparks my interest is the astronomical level of it, as stated earlier I look up to stephen hawking and would one day I would hope that I may have the opportunity to do what he does. degrees, and the job stability it gives are what I need to pursue my lifelong goal of being a theoretical physicist. I have participated in a few extra-curricular activities the one that I enjoy the most being robotics.
Robotics is very fun and I have a lot of friends in the club with me. The challenges that robotics club brings to the table are very similar to the ones found in engineering. I work on the physical side of the club, building the robots instead of making the software. I have gotten 2 straight years of honor roll with the exception of 9th grade english as this is not my strong subject.. I have had A’s in all of my science classes since I have started high school. I have been very close to A’s in my math classes, getting B+ in both Algebra 2 and Geometry. I have had great success in past years and plan to go even higher than those this
year. I have some volunteer hours. All of my voluntary work hours come from my time working at Heart Heavens. I enjoyed my time at Heart Heavens, Heart Heavens is a non-profit organization that gives disabled people homes and care while they are at the homes. I worked with my mother helping her with her average work day. I really enjoyed the small time I had there because I felt like I was actually helping people and genuinely making their days better, even if I wasn’t there to physically help them. As my school has a very active special ed program this was also something I could relate to very easily. The little time I do have working volunteer was very enjoyable and was good for my character and what it has become.
I walked into high school determined to become a teacher. I came out with a better understanding of myself and a new job in mind. When I crossed the thresh hold of Gibbs High School, I knew it was the time to find myself. I chose new classes that I knew nothing about including JROTC. I chose JROTC specifically because the rope bridges looked exciting and adventurous. When I finally got to try the rope bridge on for size, it wasn’t tied properly and fell while I was on it. This typically would scare someone away from the program, but it made me more determined. I was eager to learn and to grow from each experience I ran into in JROTC. I was attracted to the Norlin Scholars community over any other opportunity at CU because I fit the Norlin Scholars program academically, socially, personally, and in terms of what I want for my future. None of the other programs I researched came as close as Norlin Scholars to matching my ideal vision for my time at CU.
Admittance into the University of Georgia’s Honors Program would push me to continually test my potential in the pursuit of my Pre-Medical studies. I take pride in challenging myself to completely master a field of study that enhance my capabilities, and therefore, prepare myself to strive for my next goal in life. In order to grow into a better and improved self, one would need to test unfamiliar waters and reach new heights. The Honors Program ensures this growth by bringing in unaccustomed, rigorous, and beneficial material one cannot simply find in a traditional setting with their head in a textbook. I would like to thank Salish Kootenai College for giving me the wonderful opportunity of applying for STEM academy. If somebody had told me that I would be applying for college classes as a sophomore, I would not have believed them. My parents have always told me that when an opportunity comes, you should take it, and I do not plan on letting this experience go to waste. Education has been a big part of my life, and this academy can only help me move forward. That being said, here are a few reasons why I should be considered a candidate for the STEM academy. Joining the STEM academy will allow me to further my knowledge and help me to get closer to my goals, my academic career would flourish, and I would be closer to my ambition for my future. I am determined to become the best and most educated version of myself that I can possibly be.

My preferred major is mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering is the broadest engineering field, involving the design of mechanical systems. These systems are used in a multitude of different fields such as manufacturing, aeronautics, nanotechnology, nuclear power production, heating and cooling. A primary focus is on thermodynamics, structural analysis, materials science, and kinematics.
In eighth and ninth grade, I was on the volleyball team. I learned and developed the ability to work with a team and contribute to the balance of everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. I also was on the track team from seventh through tenth grade. I competed in triple jump, an individual event. Through this, I learned how to be independent and acquire skills on my own. The clubs I have been in are FBLA, DECA, NHS, FCCLA, Willard Paws Club and Foreign Language Club. Money and fame do not motivate my goals. Engineering in all forms is a field of innovation and invention. Aspirations of any great engineer should be to introduce to the world a new idea, product, or service that will make people happier and the environment safer. Success in these challenges is a reward greater than any dollar amount or public recognition. Engineers bring societies to new levels of civilization through their advancements in technology and discovery. The challenge to provide people with ever-increasing standards while at the same time feeding the population with ideas of what could be attracts my imagination, intelligence, and curiosity far more than any other career option. Each season, teams must design, prototype, build, and test a robot that performs a certain task in just a six-week period. FIRST has taught me countless valuable lessons about communication, working with others, and problem solving. Throught this club I have acquired in depth knowledge about planning, designing, and building a product from scratch, and as the build director of the team for two years I gained experience leading a team. I have always loved science and math. Although I thoroughly enjoy biology, it is not my strongest subject. To conjure a greater understanding of biology I set some short term goals. I want to enroll in more science based classes in order to hone my skills . Because I wish to have a job that is a hybrid of engineering and medical principles, it is extremely salient that I enjoy a major in biomedical engineering and perhaps a minor in nano engineering. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. It has taken a very long time for me to decide on the path that I wanted to take for my career. I have almost always known that I wanted to be an engineer. I was always more interested in applying my knowledge to solve problems rather than just research and understand the world. However, I had little to no inkling as to which field of engineering I wanted to go in to. I had always been a dabbler, involving myself in a large variety of activities with the interest of learning about how stuff works. I started out learning how to use the tools in the shed outback, making pinewood derby cars and model rockets. I would help my dad with home improvement and repair projects around the house. As time went on, my ability learns and apply
