Anything that defied gravity attracted my interest, especially because I couldn’t defy gravity. Airplanes were my favorites – they were defying the gravity despite their sheer size and mass. And the science that helped them do, captivated me so much that I joined PB College of Engineering, Chennai, for a Bachelors’ degree in Aeronautical Engineering without any hesitation.
An admission into this highly ranked college under Anna University that offered subjects like Fluid mechanics and machinery, Aero engineering thermodynamics, Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Aircraft systems and instrumentation, Aircraft Structures, Flight Dynamics, Wind tunnel techniques, Avionics, vibrations and aero elasticity and computational fluid dynamics, etc., was the best thing that has happened to me. I want to continue acquiring this knowledge and experience in this highly specialized field, by enrolling for the Masters program in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Toronto.
Aeronautics excites me like nothing else, and I did not want to confine my education to classroom learning alone. I love challenges in life. Competitions in Aeronautics conducted by various colleges gave me the impetus, so I participated in various competitions at every opportunity that came my way. I have also participated in various workshops and this introduced me to the world of Aero modelling. This gave me an opportunity to learn the making of a basic balsa wood glider and later the basic remote controlled aircraft. Lindbergh’s passion for mechanics didn’t come as a surprise to many. As a young boy, Charles seemed to be very interested in the family’s motorized vehicles, such as the Saxon Six automobile and Excelsior motorbike. But after starting college in the fall of 1920 as a mechanical engineer, his love for aviation started to bloom. Deciding that the field of aviation was more exciting, he dropped out within 2 years. He then decided to take lessons at the Nebraska Aircraft Corporation’s flying school and was up in the air for the first time on April 9, 1922 when he was in a two seat biplane as a passenger. But his solo flight would not be until May 1923 at the Souther Field in Americus, Georgia, an old flight training field where Lindbergh came to buy a World War I Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” biplane. It only took half an hour to practice with another pilot at the field to decide that Lindbergh was ready to fly the plane himself. After a week of practicing, Lindbergh took off on his biplane on his first solo cross country flight and few weeks after that, achieving his first nighttime flight near Arkansas, both marking huge milestones for the young pilot.

I decided that Computer Engineering was not what I wanted to do. I started searching online for colleges that allowed me to pursue my interest in aviation, I found that Northshore Community College offered a program in aviation. I started preparing, and taking courses at Middlesex Community College that may be transferred, and save time and money. In the fall of 2015, I transferred to NSCC for aviation management, while also doing flight training to get my private pilot's license. Aerospace engineers examine, analyze, design, produce, and occasionally install components that make up aircraft, spacecraft, high-altitude vehicles, and high-altitude delivery systems (missiles). Satisfaction with the romantic image of rocket building can buoy many engineers through the highly anonymous work environments that many of them face. Individuals don't assemble rockets; teams do, dozens of teams working in highly supervised coordination. An aerospace engineer plays some part on one of the teams, spending more of her time (roughly 70 percent) in a lab, at a computer, and assembling reports than doing anything else. Not being able to see the "big picture" frustrates some professionals. Through my experiences at this camp, I have met my heroes and mentors, and been inspired to further pursue my dreams. I believe my motivation and determination to succeed will have a positive impact on those around me.
