William Arthur once said, “adversity causes some to break and others to break records.” Some people work to overcome their adversity and others just break down and don’t but those who do, accomplish great things in life. And some people regret their decisions. I have had a fear of breaking my arms or legs while snowboarding, I started at a young age but I still have the fear on the bigger mountains that I will hurt myself. Because one year at Big Sky the last day we were there I was going down with my brother and he was in front of me and we were going down a pretty big hill and I fell and was scared that I broke something so I was freaking out and he was trying to get me to calm down but I couldn’t I just had the thought in my head that I wouldn't be able to do my sports any longer. And sports are a big part of my life so that would be hard for me. But I was just trying to calm down sitting on the hill with my brother my parents final came down and So a couple days later we leave for big sky again, we are on our way there and my brother asks if i’m still scared to go down the big hills because of what happened the first time I tell him I am kinda but I think I will get over it he tells me that I have to go down the big hill like last time so we get there and he makes me go straight to that one. Once again i’m shaking but he tells me I can do it and that he will be right behind me with my parents so I start going down and I can hear him yelling at me saying I can do it so I making my way down the hills and I see the bottom and i’m thinking to myself that I am almost there and I can make it without getting hurt and breaking any of my bones. So when I make it to the bottom I am relieved that I made it down that hill without hurting myself and and I got over that fear of the hill and I am glad that we got to go back and as a family and spend time together and have fun doing
Adversities are often given a negative connotation and view, as most consider them to be hurdles which impede progress. Nevertheless when taken in and accepted under a positive light, adversities can serve as stepping stones through which an individual can better their character. In the face of looming obstacles individuals who persevere come out of the situation as stronger, determined, and more hopeful for the future.
Just like the sounding of your alarm every morning, adversities are ultimately inevitable in life. A Roman poet named Horace once said, "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant." Horace examines the role that adversity plays in the growth of a person’s character and understanding of burdens and times of difficulty. In these times, when adversities are encountered, one’s real character is exposed. The true depth and intensity of human nature is disclosed, but true talent is not always found. But, what is found, is the truth behind that person’s character, and the strength they truly posses.
“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant- Horace.” After analyzing this quotation about adversity from the Roman Poet Horace, it is evident that his assentation about the role that adversity plays in developing a person’s character is accurate because without some sort of hardships or trial majority of the celebrities and population wouldn’t have been as successful. For example, world renowned soccer players, Walt Disney, Famous authors, and more wouldn’t have been prosperous without their misfortune pushing and inspiring them to want a better life for themselves.
“Adversity isn't an obstacle that we need to get around in order to resume living our life. It's part of our life.” - Aimee Mullins
Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gain a broader perspective on life.
Adversity can wreck your life. Adversity can lay you so low that you never recover. But if you stand up to adversity, it can also make you stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. No matter what your background, no matter what your family life is like, and no matter what obstacles are thrown your way, if you have someone who loves you and looks out for you and if you have a
The next morning we decided to go back to the Grand Canyon to see it in the morning. We drove in and stopped at multiple viewing points that morning and got many more pictures. So when we stopped at some points my brother was climbing around and my mom was freaking out because it was icy and snowy and she was scared he was gonna fall. We also didn't spend a whole lot of time there because it was also only in the 20s that morning.
Well, the mountains don’t scare me. I did the Pacific Crest Trail three years ago. Overtime, the trail became my home. I felt as though I was exposing myself to more risk each time I entered town, than when I was on the trail with a small group of hikers.
Adversity is a prominent part of life and literature, and it is something that everyone has to face at multiple times in their lives at all different magnitudes. However, what they earn from conquering these trials is worth a lot more than what would have to be sacrificed in order to get there. No one gets to their objective without having to make changes to overcome an obstacle, but all the hard work involved in achieving where you want is really what makes it pay off.
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
I have this fear that causes my body to shake. When I think about it, my skin becomes pale and cold. It’s death speeding through my mind. Once I have seen these monstrous roller coasters, the only thing in my mind was fear. Knowing that I’m afraid to go on these rides, I didn’t want to look like a fool in front of my friends. My mind is thinking of deadly thoughts. My palms were sweaty and I was twitching like a fish. I was petrified of heights.
I almost fell off a cliff on the side of a mountain. I was in Pitkin, Colorado, on a camping trip during the summer of 2009. The trees were green, the air was fresh so were the lakes, rivers, and ponds were stocked with fish and wildlife was everywhere. Usually, on these camping trips, I would be accompanied by a large number of people. However, this time, it was just my parents, my three brothers, and my two sisters. I was almost 12 years old at the time and having three older brothers made me very competitive. Naturally, when my family decided to climb one of the mountain’s which were around us, I wanted to be the first one to reach its peak.
People usually afraid of failure because they tried to do something and failed, or took a risk and it didn’t pay off, or made a decision and it turned out to be the wrong one. That fear of failure create the stress and anxiety when people want to do something hard or try something new. Just because you tried something two or three time and failing does not mean the entire idea is a mistake. Do you expect to get a Blackjack on every game that you played? That would be an impossible thing to do. There is no success that comes without failure, where failure is experiences and lessons that help you to perfect your works. People should overcome their fear of failure and use failure as a tool to work toward their success because failing is so important
My father parked the car, we all bundled up, and then we climbed out of the car. There was a lovely gift shop next to the congratulator Pike’s Peak sign. My family and I separated as we searched for souvenirs. After finding a shirt, keychain, or pocket knife we started off on a scavenger hunt to piece together the family. My mother was located in the bathroom, she had an overactive bladder and this trip, thankfully, was not too long for her. My sister was examining the gemstones found in the nearby mines. It took a decent amount of time before we found my brother and my father. However, when we found them it made sense why it took so long. The elevation was not being friendly with my brother and stole the majority of his oxygen. We hurriedly purchased the overpriced souvenirs and decided to head back down. Exiting the building we caught glimpse of the breathless view. My mother noticed that it was in alignment with the Pike’s Peak sign and decided that we should huddle together quickly for a photo. We had a stranger take the picture and we headed down the mountain. After careful review, we decided that it was the best photo that we have ever taken together; I still hold pride in it.
...nk of as accomplishments that shaped who we are. Measuring ourselves against our personal achievents and the adversity we face is one of the many ways that we can examine our lives and potential. Adversity plays such a big role in our lives that it's almost invisible. We don't realize that practically everyday we face it and set it up to determine who we are going to be. Sometimes people are given a really crappy deck of cards and don’t know how to handle them. When were in a difficult situation, or faced with adversity we have two choices. Battle through it and become an even greater individual because of it or succumb to the situation and give up. It it all depends on how much determination a person has to fight through the adversity and in turn, become a better person.
