A man sits, he holds a script, memorizes the lines, and recites them to perfection. He isn’t an actor, but a salesman, a greeter, or a cashier. Memorization was once the job of actors, recently, it has moved into the realm of commerce. Scripting is a form of marketing and sales that relies on the employee to follow a strict direction when dealing with customers. In my experiences there are two main types of scripts used at corporate locations: the greeting and the upsell. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. With the proliferation of corporate chain stores, there has been a stark increase in the use of scripting to boost sales and provide a standardized experience for their customers.

They want the store to make a good first impression. This is where greeter comes into play. Walmart positions greeters at the entrance to their stores. They want their customers to see a smiling face when they first walk into the store. It places a human face to the anonymous corporate entity and by extension discourages shop lifting. Walmart’s policy emphasizes values such as honesty, respect and deems sexual harassment, violence and any form of bullying unacceptable. The tone of this policy was conversational tone, but with a seriousness and that’s what took awhile the sternness which made it feel more negative because they're trying to be too friendly. I feel that if I was working at Walmart I would abide by these policies because If I put the company’s business out for people to see on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Pinterest, and etc. You can get terminated from your job and also go to court just for even talking bad about your manager saying something racist about your fellow
To this day, when I walk into Wal-Mart and come face to face with a manager I once worked under they give me dirty looks. People report that managers will trash talk you to another job that applied for if that job contacts Wal-Mart about you. Wal-Mart has unrealistic workloads for some overnight stockers, their managers aren’t the best in the world, and their policies are harsh. This is why I constantly call Wal-Mart a communist regime; not because it shares the ideals but because it is just bad for everyone in general. Hopefully one day a high positioned power will restore the order and peace that once was Wal-Mart according to the history they teach you in training and that their policies and workloads may become more realistic and doable.

Opening up a script is equivalent to the most stunning smile one has ever seen. I love being introduce to the different varieties of plays. “The Best Man” by Gore Vidal was a difficult play to start off with. The first scene was slow and the plot was slightly confusing. Once I got past that scene my interest for the play expanded. I started to sympathize with some of the characters and distrust others. A couple of parts left me astonished and somber. I was intrigued throughout the entire script, turning each page with anticipation.
There are many reasons for choosing to go into a store to purchase items needed. For instance, having some assist you in finding what you need, or just answer questions about the product. It is also a way to get out of the couch, away from the television, or off the computer. Another feature is you can see and examine what you are going to purchase, helps in the decision making for most people. You know the minute the salesperson ring you up the product are yours to take home and use right away. It also makes return on items simple, take it back to where you bought and get an exchange or a refund if needed. The first reason that new employees who work at stores are annoying is because they are not aware of their surrounding of the store. For instance, the employees do not know around the stores so they cannot help us. The employee also cannot point out where things are and it takes much longer. Also, if the employees do not know the building, then they still want to help the customer by taking them around the whole store to get them something. Lastly, in the store, there would be only one new employee for that department, and if the shopper asked them something, they would respond, “Sorry, I Cannot help, I am new” to the buyer. Now the customer has no one to ask, and this is bad service. Clearly, having new store employees at a store is very frustrating. Not only are having new store workers frustrating, but also having people walk violent dogs in public.
