The age of the globalisation has gifted mankind of many advancements and enhancements in many aspects or areas. One of the advancements is the technological enhancements in the field of health technologies which is evolving tremendously every minute; but whether this advancements in health technology is in our advantage or disadvantage is entirely a different question. Many disadvantages arises with such advancements as it does with most technologies known to mankind. Our research has yielded some disadvantages of the modern health technology which is illustrated in detail in this report. This increasingly sophisticated health care technology definitely does not come cheap. The increasing population of people in our country certainly proves to be a challenge to the government at this point. The life span of people of the modern age is deteriorating rapidly due to increasing diseases and strong, drug immune viruses or bacteria that is spreading rampantly throughout our great nation. This situation certainly needs the government to invest on more expensive health technologies but the working population which could afford to pay for this expensive equipment has reduced. So, it is not economically viable for a government to invest in this expensive health care machines. For example, an MRI machine costs between RM 750,000 to RM 3 million. A PET scanner on the other hand ranges between 1 Million US Dollars to 2.5 Million US Dollars. A CT scanner costs up to about a staggering 300,000 US Dollars. A wide range of complaints arises among doctors these days that the insurance companies encourages them to discharge patients sooner because health care has become very expensive. The Da Vinci Surgical System is a large purpose-built robot controlled by a surgeon that performs minimally invasive surgical procedures on patients. The system incorporates an ergonomically designed surgeon's console, a patient-side module with four interactive robotic arms, each with interchangeable surgical instruments and a 3-dimensional endoscopic vision system. Powered by high-tech supercomputers, the surgeon's hand movements are scaled, filtered and then converted into precise movements of the surgical attachments. The designers of the system are a team of doctors, engineers and biomedical engineers at a company called Intuitive Surgical.
The field of medical robotics is a relatively new area. The first known documented utilization of robotics in the medical field occurred in the year 1985. A robot aided in placing a needle in the correct position for a biopsy of a patient's brain. Although there is still much to explore and discover in the area of medical robotics, the advances steadily increase at a fast pace. Historically, robots have often been first introduced to automate or ameliorate discrete processes, such as painting a car or placing test probes on electronic circuits, but their greatest economic influence has often come indirectly as essential enablers of computer-integration of entire production or accommodation processes.

As these incidents occur it is important to consider the safety of the patient when it comes to cutting into their bodies. With the invention of the Da Vinci Surgical system it helped with vision and different viewpoints of the patient’s body and also improves precision. It is important to have a machine or tool for more than one type of surgery, one to use on patients with different injuries or diseases. Overall, this surgical system helps improve and help further research how precise and how in control a surgeon can be.
