The idea of (fair trade) started in the early nineties of the twentieth century, when some organizations have adopted European and American institutions, the idea represented in achieving a fair price for the products of small farmers and exporters of agricultural materials

Wholesalers:
Wholesalers take ownership to the goods and services from the manufacturer companies that they are intermediaries for. They own the products which they sell, and work with large numbers of product, they buy very huge Quantity and store it in their own storage until the time that resell them, usually they do not sell to the final consumer, but they sell to other intermediaries like the retailers and in the higher price from which they paid. So they do not take commission as the agents do.
Distributors:
The distributors work as the wholesalers work, they take the ownership of the product and store it then sell them to the retailers with a profit or other intermediaries. For example Pepsi Cola distributors, will not distribute the Coca Cola products, and Coca Cola distributors, will not distribute Pepsi Cola

A supply chain is a system through which organizations deliver their products and services to their customers. The network begins with the basic ingredients to start the chain of supply, which are the suppliers that supply raw materials, ingredients, and so on. From there, it will transfer the supplies to the manufacturer who builds, assembles, converts, or furnishes a product. The chain now needs to get the product to the consumer by transporting the finished product from the manufacturer through a warehouse or distribution center. An example is that Wal-Mart has a nearby distribution center where products are delivered there and then split up to be delivered to a retail Wal-Mart.
Fair trade international is also jointly owned and managed by certified producers. Producers are able to influence the overall strategy, premiums, prices and standards through fair trade internationals board, its consultation processes and commitees. Stable prices: there is a fairtrade minimum price that’s set to cover the cost of production sustainability, even when prices fall in the world market drop. Empowerment of farmers and workers: farmer groups must be certified by having visible administration and democratic basis and structure. There must be representatives of workers on the committees that decide how to use the premium from fair trade. Fair trade supports both groups to develop in this area. A Fairtrade Premium: the premium helps them create a better life for themselves. It is paid in addition to the agreed upon fair trade price, and they choose democratically how to spend it. Usually they spend it on health care, education, processing facilities or farm improvments to improve
Whereas, Free trade is an international system in which nations allow open trade to other countries. I believe that Fair trade is more sustainable, as it balances economic states and reduces the disparity between developed and developing nations. Fair trade supports farmers and workers who are not receiving the amount they should receive, it helps balance the economic state with developed countries. The system aims to aide the economic and social welfare of under developed nations and empowers producers who have been externalised. Fair trade not only supports economically, but also sustains families, communities, livelihood and a way of living in which they inherited from their
“Supply chain. Product life cycle processes comprising physical, information, financial and knowledge flow or movements whose purpose is to satisfy end-user requirements with physical products and intangible services from multiple, linked suppliers.” In other words, supply chains compose a network of different companies that cooperate closely for goods delivery.
Supply chain management is basically refers to the fundamental supply chain analysis of the organization which predominantly describes functionalities from source to the delivery point. Even in a world focused on the benefits free trade and aimed at achieving the goal of free trade, states are protectionist by nature. Unfortunately, the design of the international system allows for stronger nations to be more protectionist, leaving the weaker states even more vulnerable. A study that is more intensive than a critical commentary should be devoted to analyzing the impact of free trade on developing nations. I was limited to the readings and prior knowledge, and thus couldn’t provide a sufficient analysis on the fair treatment of developing nations. I was skeptical of the one reading that focused on fairness of international institutions because of the statistics that indicate these nations have not done well in recent decades. I would like to look into this more given more time and resources.
Supply chain management has been defined as that process that involves the management of information, materials, and all the finances that are handled within and across the entire supply chain process (Christopher, 2016). The management is usually done through out the entire supply chain management from that moment when the suppliers are involved through all the manufacturing activities, different distribution activities, and the way that the products are served to the final product consumer (Turban, et al., 2002). The process also includes all the activities that different organizations offers to their customers as after sale services for purposes perfecting their services and products towards their highly valued customers (Christopher,
Retail Merchandising Retail merchandising is a management system of strategic planning and tactical control, directed toward the financial enhancement of an inventory and the profitable distribution of that inventory to the retail consumer. Merchandising enables retailers to make the best use of space and layout. It creates part of the communication process with consumers and focuses on layout, design, traffic flow and display advantage points. It links in with the overall development of a company’s corporate image and strategies, and fits with the organisation’s objectives to enhance and promote image. The primary goal of retail merchandising is to influence the potential customers to purchase a particular merchandise product at a particular retail store.
“Product distribution, whether you are a large retailer or small group of stores, will follow similar steps in the distribution process taking into account both bottom line with channel partners and service end users” (Beck, 2013). Without proper distribution channels in place a company can have the greatest product on the market, but its product might never reach the consumer. Prior to distributing the product/service a company must identify its target market, know who their competitors are and understand the market they plan to place their product or service in. Large retailers have the financial depth to reach consumers through various media channels; direct mailers, television advertisem...
In order for international trade to work well, governments must allow the world market to determine how goods are sold, manufactured and traded for all to economically prosper. While all nations may have the capability to produce any goods or services needed by their population, it is not possible for all nations to have a comparative advantage for producing a good due to natural resources of the country or other available resources needed to produce a good or service. The example of trading among states comprising the United States is an example of how free trade works best without the interve...
Wholesalers acts as a lesion between manufacturers of commodities and other industries that are interesting in selling the same products. Along this distribution chain wholesalers usually purchase goods in large quantities and in turn sells them to retailers who ultimately supplies goods and services to consumers. Due to the available space at wholesale locations they are able to store products for distribution to retailers which reduces retailers storage costs. Wholesalers are able to store goods in large quantities which allow retailers to purchase in small quantities. Due to this option retailers are able to only purchase what is needed at that given point (Kotler & Keller, 2012). Additionally, because wholesalers are able to purchase goods

Fair Trade is considered as an alternative trading system, which aims to protect the economically disadvantaged producers, especially in developing countries. It provides transparency and respect in international trade (Gingrich and King, 2012). Besides, Fair Trade also contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions for marginalised producers and workers and securing their rights (Mohan, 2010).
