Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, in the Austrian town of Braunau. Adolf Hitler did some cruel things throughout his life such as placing millions of people into concentration camps and even aabandoninghis country when he knew they were going to lose the war. He was the leader of the Nazi Party from 1933 to 1945, and was a man who believed in one dominant race and believed that if you were not the race, you should not be able to live.

He published a book called Mein Kampf or My Struggle in English. The first volume was published in 1925 and a second volume came out in 1927. It was translated into 11 languages and sold more than five million copies by 1939. The book was Hitler’s first step in transforming the German society into one race. Like Hitler, there were many people who also felt betrayed at the end of World War I. Even though the book was often filled with grammatical errors, it was very appealing to many Germans who were also confused and lost at the end of World War I. With millions of people unemployed, the Great Depression hit Germany hard and this is when Hitler saw his opportunity. The German crowd needed and was open to the extremist options. Hitler, in 1932 ran against an 84-year-old Paul von Hindenburg for the presidency. In both rounds of the election, Hitler came in second, gathering more than 36 percent of the votes in the final count. This sent a massive army of German troops into the Soviet Union. The German troops took a big space of Land before temporarily halting the invasion. This halt allowed the Soviets to stop the Germans in Moscow on December 1941. On December 7, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Honoring the alliance with Japan, Hitler was now at war with the Allies and more importantly the United States, which was the world’s greatest financial power. Hitler needed 31 non-Nazi votes to pass it. He got those votes from the Catholic Center Party after making a false promise to restore some basic rights already taken away by decree” (The History Place). They voted in favor of Hitler.
