Adolf Hitler was, born on 20 April 1889, in a small Austrian town called Braunau. Adolf’s father, Alois Hitler, was a customs official; Adolf’s mother, Klara Pölzl, was a housewife. Adolf was sibling to five other children, only two of which actually lived to adulthood. In 1898 the Hitler family moved to upper Austria, where a young and distraught Adolf pursued his dream in visual arts. Alois disagreed; Adolf should work in the civil service, like his father. After Alois’ death, young Adolf persuaded Klara, his mother, to let him pursue his dream to become an artist. In 1907 Adolf took an exam to enter the Vienna Academy of the Arts and failed. In early 1908, shortly after his mother's death, Adolf moved to Vienna with fresh hope to get into the Academy. By late 1909, Hitler knew of poverty; his income withered away and he resided in a homeless shelter for a time after spending his inheritance. That winter, Adolf began to paint watercolor scenery of Vienna, offering him enough money to live on until 1913, when he left Vienna for Munich, Germany. It is likely that Adolf began his antisemitic ideologies during this time. After living in Braunau, the Hitler family decided to move to Linz in 1898 which is also the capital of upper Austria. Adolf, being interested in art wanted to pursue a career in visual arts, but his father fought with him often because he wanted Adolf to enter the Habsburg civil services. After his father died his mother, Klara Hitler agreed to let Adolf take on his dream of being an artist and go into a visual arts class using the money inherited from his fathers death. In the fall of 1907, Adolf applied to be enrolled into Vienna Academy of the Arts. Adolf failed to pass the test to get into the academy. After his mom passed away in the beginning of 1908, Adolf made the decision to the town of Vienna to try again at being accepted into the Academy of the Arts.
