Family plays an integral role in boys suffering from ADHD symptoms as parents; we pave the way for our children to follow emotionally and physically. Parents have control over many aspects of their children’s lives and are able to be a positive influence to them. There is a lot parents and family can do to manage and reduce the daily challenge and symptoms of ADHD. The earlier the disorder is diagnosed, the easier it will be able to manage and there is a better chance for your child to be successful in life. These parents need any support and positive encouragement they can get from relatives, friends, co-workers and the community. These are some positive qualities that parent can used to help manage the symptoms of ADHD, instead, of solely relying on medication, positive qualities such as, communication, be clear and concise, give command step by step. Parents should always be consistence, your expectation should be the same at all times, pick your battles, and every situation does not need intervention, because if parents do so this can result in constant conflict and criticism. Give praise when it is deserved, most family tents to highlight bad behavior that these boys display but highlighting the good behavior makes these boys feel good about their ability to do well and this also help them to realize that they have the inner strength to be good without medication. Anticipate and avoid problems, try to learn what situation makes these children uncomfortable. Be an example, model the type of behavior you want your child to emulate, talk and listen to these boys, build relationships and allow them to feel confident enough to relate any problems they are experiencing, and as parents be open minded and help these boys cope with their ADHD symptoms.

It looks as though parents want to drug their children until they are who the parents want to see. There is a 53% increase in people ages 4 – 17 being diagnosed with ADHD (source #4) in the past decade alone. This makes it look like there is not a rise in children with ADHD, but a rise in people looking for any excuse to put kids on drugs in order to calm their child.
