Picasso’s significant painting presents five life size female figures twisting in an ambiguous, tight space, and confronting its viewers in an uncomfortable way. With this new found inspiration upon viewing Picasso’s painting, Matisse is able to go deeper and more expressive into his description of the female nudes without being shallow in Bathers by a River. An intense, competitive partnership developed between Cubism and Fauvism. No matter how much he might have wanted to, Matisse could not ignore Picasso and the advances he was making in the art world. Their heated conflict deeply fueled Modern Art as each artist tried to surpass the other. As with many of Matisse’s Cubist contemporaries, the underlying drawing was of greater significance to his paintings than any brilliant color effects, even though the use of light continued to play a significant part in these 1913-17 works. Matisse found major new ways of applying paint to canvas. He layered, smeared and removed what he had painted earlier on the canvas not by scraping it away with a tool, but by applying fresh paint to cover and remake what was previously there. The raw textures in Bathers by a River energize the serious
Most Americans are unaware of the problems of the poor, it is hard to imagine the challenges of poverty, the daily fears of victimization or the frustration of not being able to provide for a child. These central ideas along with many others have plagued the United States’ economy for most of its history. What do we do with the poor? Who are they and what can we do to help them? Well the answer is a mix between individuality with a strong relativity to the central government. It is here that we find our argument and it is here that we find ourselves at bay with many sensitive subjects. I believe that it is the government’s responsibility to provide for the nation, but it is up to the individual whom is given to, to make a difference with what is given to them. With such problems as minimum wage, unemployment and little to no affordable housing it is hard for the poverty stricken individual to gain some if any ground at all in their quest to rise up out of the bonds of destitution. There needs to be a “battle plan” if you will to attack this issue of poverty head on. It is here that my plan comes into effect. Many propose simply giving them some sort of aid in food or money and being done with it, what I propose is that you give a little and they take it much further than what was originally thought possible. It is not simply the act of supporting them for the rest of their lives, it is the act of providing a strong foundation for which they can build upon. An outstanding quote from a man by the name of William McDonough states (chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York), “Issues of equity and social cohesion are issues that affect the very temperament of the country. We are forced to face the question of whether we will be able to go forward together as a unified society with a confident outlook or as a society of diverse economic groups suspicious of both the future and each other.”(Collins, Leondar and Sklar 280)
From the creation of art to its modern understanding, artists have strived to perform and perfect a photo realistic painting with the use of complex lines, blend of colors, and captivating subjects. This is not the case anymore due to the invention of the camera in 1827, since it will always be the ultimate form of realism. Due to this, artists had the opportunities to branch away from the classical formation of realism, and venture into new forms such as what is known today as modern art. In the examination of two well known artists, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock, we can see that the artist doesn’t only intend for the painting to be just a painting, but more of a form of telling a scene through challenging thoughts, and expressing of the artists emotion in their creation.

He changed the art world by inventing new artistic works. He showed the world that he wanted to do something different with his life other than do what everyone told him to do with his paintings. The poverty rate in America was at a stable fifteen percent during the 2011-2012 year. Though based on an official recording, poverty today is much higher than before. This fact may seem depressing, and suggests that people who pay tax are wasting millions of dollars a year attempting to fight a losing war on poverty. According to Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, we spent “$15 trillion fighting poverty,” though currently we have “the highest poverty rates in a generation, 15 percent of Americans in poverty.” There is no doubt that it may seem as if our valiant effort was for nothing, though poverty itself is a strong and persistent foe that has been strongly combated and oppressed over the years.
Most accountants and auditors work full time. Longer hours are typical at certain times of the year, such as at the end of the budget year or during tax season.
