The principle of Academic writing is to extort one central point, where the supporting factors are consistent with the main argument. This type of documentation style is used to cite sources within the social sciences, along with nursing and business. It contains four major sections, that consists of a title page, an abstract, the main body, and references. The use of the references page highlights the importance of APA style, this allows both the writer and reader to acknowledge the work of other writers along with their research. The use of secondary information that provides a more reliable and efficient piece of writing. A responsible writer will correctly cite their sources into a reference list to avoid the risk of plagiarism. This includes the author, date, title, and URL. The application of the reference page and citation provides a specific area where one can go for an additional resource which lets the use of secondary information to strengthen their text. The importance of becoming more familiar with the writing to distinguish if it is published by a reputable publisher or not is crucial. Using a credible source is important as it informs the reader that the person who wrote it is viable. This way the research paper will be supported by evidence that distributes a solid idea throughout the writing

A boy named Ender Wiggin is recruited to join the military and is sent to Battle School to train to be able to defeat the next alien attack. The author of Ender’s Game uses various styles of writing. In doing so the Author is able to convey a concise yet entertaining story. Some of the writing styles the he uses are that his writing is simple, he uses various types of POV and lastly he uses irony.
My English 1310 course was taught by Professor Daniel Stuart. He taught us the concept of academic writing and why it is important. Academic writing is the process of down ideas, using a formal tone, deductive reasoning and third person. Writing done to carry out the requirements of a college or university on a research based level. It requires a starting point or introduction, followed by a thesis on the preferred topic, then comes proving and disproving of the evidence based arguments. I now understand how to format a paper and the importance of an outline. English 111 has helped me see the difference in the quality of papers I wrote in high school compared to the quality paper expected in college. When writing my Argumentative Essay I put much more effort into my outline than I did for any other paper in this class. Writing an outline improved my paper in ways I did not take advantage of on earlier assignments. Before this class I never spent time on an outline and considered outlines a waste of time. I now see how helpful an outline can be and plan to use one for papers going forward. The skill area I most improved on from our midterm project has been citations. I have utilized the “Cite It” link from the James Library for MLA style on both of my final papers for this class. The guide provided through the James Library gave many examples which helped me visually see the difference in what was expected. By using this resource I not only improved on MLA format for our class, but also improved upon the APA format for my Sociology
What is writing style? I started out thinking that writing style is a personal thing and that all writers have their own style. But, this way of thinking is really just a simple way to answer the question. After more careful thought, I realized that style is actually quite the opposite of personal and original. Style is a form of standardization. As writers, we all follow certain rules and guidelines to make our point. Style is these rules and guidelines.
