I am aware that I no longer meet the grade point average of a 3.0 to be eligible for the Academic Excellence Scholarship and I take full responsibility for that. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been awarded such a scholarship. I know that I have fallen below my own academic standards and the standard expected of me by the Scholarship Committee, and without a doubt I have learned several things than can prevent me from falling below those standards.
My grade point average fell as a result of me holding more positions than my academic curriculum demanded for me to maintain a certain level of academic excellence. Being a Resident Advisor and an active mentor of a leadership organization, a chunk of my time was devoted towards helping other students become more successful in their academics and in the University of Houston community. This left me with insufficient time to achieve academic excellence in which I pride myself on.
To ensure that I maintain a grade point average well above the requirement, I have prioritized what truly matters to me. As much as I enjoyed developing

freshman students to be campus leaders, I chose to no longer be a mentor for the upcoming semester in the Ignite leadership program. This creates more time for me to focus on my academics and will help me achieve a grade point average favorably above a 3.0; which would meet the scholarship requirement and help me stay competitive in my in my career field as an electrical engineer. As an engineering student, my academic curriculum can be quite challenging. With the advice of professors and academic advisors I know I need an average of three hours of studying for every hour of class I am taking. I plan to keep my engagements between my academics and outside position(s) to the weekly threshold of sixty hours as recommend by a professor. This means that the difference between sixty hours and my allotted time for studying is the safe amount of time I can spend involved in any other organization. Also, I will be proposing a strategy for my Residence Life Coordinator to track my academic progress during our bi-weekly meetings to ensure that I am on track towards success.
This will also serve as a check needed to ensure I do not fall below the requirement.
My sub-par academic performance is unacceptable; I accept responsibility knowing fully well that I am capable of achieving a grade point average above a 3.0 for the upcoming semesters. I worked diligently to earn the academic scholarship, and I value its contribution to my academic finances. It deeply hurts me to know that I can potentially lose the fruit of several years of labor. Regardless of the decision reached, I am thankful for the privilege to have attained this scholarship, it means a substantial deal to my academic accomplishments. I look forward to another opportunity to demonstrate my academic
abilities.
The first requirement for consideration is an overall outstanding grade point average and the ability to maintain or improve upon that grade throughout my high school career. I believe I have done more than express my deep desire to achieve beyond that of my peers in and out of the classroom, and continue to do so to this day. When first appearing in the Wapato School system in the 7th grade, I had immense trouble maintaining any good grades. Now, I don’t blame this on anybody but myself, as I was never told throughout my childhood leading up to then that I should pay attention to my schoolwork. I know this may seem hard to believe, but I was simply considered more

I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
At my old high school, I would have had a tough time answering this question. My grade point average was my identity, my community engagement was my passion, and campus leadership drove me to reach higher. While all of these qualities are great, I started to lose focus of my other qualities that mattered the most. This changed at the Governor's School for Science and Math. Here I have learned that self improvement and hard work are my best qualities, and I now use them in other areas of my life, such as activities and community.
I must also acknowledge my role in my transcript’s substandard showing. As my SAT and ACT scores indicate, I have the potential to achieve success in any field chosen. However, I have procrastinated and failed to apply myself to my studies. This year I have made and earnest effort to improve my work ethic. My grade point average is rising and my study habits are improving. I know that I can continue with this improvement.
You improved and showed so much growth since elementary school. I know that in 6th grade you were barely passing with Cs, Ds, and a few Bs. Now though you are passing with As and Bs. Even though you never made principle’s list you always made honor rolls.

“High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation” (Charles F. Kettering). Correspondingly, the Bolsa Grande High School Council decided to vote unanimously to raise the GPA from 2.0 to 3.0. The council felt that students should focus more in school rather than participating in a sport or a club. The school council made the correct decision because it develops work habits, helps students go to better colleges, and prepares students for professional life.

In high school, my goal was to get into a great college. Now that I am here, my perspective has completely changed. I now realize that there is so much more to being successful than getting good grades and having a good resume. It’s not just about being stellar on paper, but actually learning the material that is being taught in the classroom and taking full advantage of the resources and opportunities at USC. It’s not about listing as many leadership roles as possible on my resume, but being able to understand how these leadership roles affected me and what I have learned from my experiences as a leader.
I have achieved significant academic accomplishments that I am extremely honored of. I have maintained a 4.042 grade point average, have lettered in academics every year, and I have challenged myself with weighted honors classes like Honors Algebra II, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Pre-Calculus. In addition to these honors courses, I have taken multiple dual enrollment classes with the University of Northern Colorado

After the movie, while we went back to her home, she started to talk about the movie. She had a particular point of view where the main story wasn’t the most important part of the movie, instead she showed me to enjoy the stories behind the main story, the movies’ details. I was fascinated with her stories about other people in the movies, the second character stories. I always, involved by the excitement of the moment, started to create my own movies, my own characters, my own stories, and I know now that that part of our secret visited to the cinema, were the part that she most enjoyed.
My parents, who migrated to the United States from Nigeria, dream of a brighter future for me and my siblings. To fulfill this dream, they sacrificed luxuries of life so that my siblings and I could attend a parochial school. For this reason, I have always done my best to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way, especially by excelling academically. This goal to maintain my academic excellence is the reason why I am determined to work diligently in UAB’s College of Arts and Sciences and beyond.
