Abortion Rebuttal

Abortion has been a problem in the U.S ever since it was legalized in some countries since 1933. This topic has been heavily debated because of the divergent views on when a life begins. When does a woman have the right to decide what happens to her body and government problems related to this topic. Abortion is a very serious topic thats not easy to discuss since its about choosing to let a baby live or die which sounds terrible to have to decide such a thing. However, it has been a medical, religious, and governmental problem thats still is undecided till this day.
My claim is that I’m against abortion because I think once a baby is forming, it should have the chance to live. I qualify my claim through the use of the word “life”. Many people

might not realize this problem since most people know that once a woman is pregnant, she will undoubtedly give birth to their child and raise it to live a happy life. This is the common way of a pregnancy life that a women lives but sadly this doesn’t happen with every person that is pregnant at an early or late pregnancy. I support ( evidence ) my claim by using the website Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection that abortion should be considered a more serious topic for the following reasons. One of the problems related to abortion is medical issues, the most common medical issue with abortion is infection. This can be a serious life threatening problem and can cause excessive bleeding and damage the uterus. Most abortions are done by untrained individuals and it's rare when it's performed by a professional with proper conditions. The safest surgical abortion is done within the first twelve weeks of pregnancy by a trained medical professionals. However, the procedure that can best reduce health risks of abortion is a drug called mifepristone. This drug works by blocking production of the hormone that is what developes the fetus in early stages of pregnancy. This is also known as the “abortion pill” and it's used for sixty-three days after the last menstrual period.
I further support my claim through the second issue with abortion that is ethical and social issues.

The people that are opposed with abortion are called “pro-life” the ones who are in favor of it are called “anti-life”. A counter-argument is that people who support abortion claim that it's a woman's body and she has the right to do anything with her body. ( rebuttal ) Pro-life say it's murder to the child but there are the moderate views. These people believe that abortion can be justified, but they’re some ethical concerns like the status of the fetus, the right of a woman and her fetus and even if restricting abortion will minimize the loss of the baby's life. Anti-life believe that life begins the moment an egg is fertilized by a sperm, also that this form of life has the same rights like a person. On the contrary, moderate people claim that the embryo or the fetus is not considered a person until time of birth said by Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection . These two claims controverse each other since we don’t know when an embryo or fetus should be considered a life or not since each side has their points. The only reason why abortion was allowed in the past was because it could kill the mother thus an abortion would happen. In the 1800’s, abortion would also happen if a women was raped or incest which gave a good point to get an abortion. There is still another ethical issue of when a woman has the right to choose what she does with her body and the fetus right to continue to

live.
Some social issues about abortion are effects of abortion in society, social justice and equality. Supporters claim that not allowing abortion impacts the poor greatly because many children in poor nations are abandoned by their parents. In spite of that, illegal abortions have caused many problems that harm both the mother and the child. Some experts estimate that two hundred thousand women die each year because of illegal abortions that weren’t done by a professional (by Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection). In general, restricting abortion laws and inadequate public health services have a greater impact on the lives of poor women than on wealthy women. In most nations, abortion is prohibited under all circumstances but some countries like Canada and England allow it for the purpose to save a woman's life. But in many nations such as Sweden, France, Japan and the Unites States their government permits abortions with restriction because in 2008, 21.6 million women died each year by unsafe abortion according to World Organization Report.
Now abortion in the United States has a bit more political issues, abortion can’t be completely illegal in the U.S because of the women's right movement that happened in 1973 also known as Roe vs. Wade. However, in the constitution, it's not specific about abortion rights but because of the 14th amendment, this has a great impact to the issue because of women's rights. (another counter-argument) With this, supporters of abortion have support towards their claim about abortion. Roe v. Wade made it illegal to restrict a woman’s right to an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy. There has been many problems with abortion mainly with the government since this topic can be very hard to solve. On February 2016, eighteen states are required procedures for a certain time in pregnancy, these states mandate a second physician to be part of it. So far, forty-five health care facilities have the right to refuse to take part of abortion procedures and forty-two states can completely deny the act of doing an abortion. As of today, no complete choice has been made since it’s not easy to solve such a problem.
(qualifier) Abortion is a very controversial problem that will most definitely have no solution any time soon since both sides have valid points. I personal feel abortion is not a good thing be it religious, medical or state issue. People that believe in legion know better that abortion is an awful act a pregnant woman could do because of what the bible says. However, the bottom line is that life does begin when a woman is pregnant because a fetus is necessary for it to form into a baby. Many might argue that a fetus is not considered living but it's actually not true, you can’t create a living person without a living thing. (conclusion) I believe that if a woman is pregnant and chooses not to have the child is very irresponsible because no matter the reason why the pregnancy happen, the child has no blame at all for what happened and should have the opportunity to live a life. I don’t believe that abortion will ever have a solution that will be equal to both sides.
