Conception is where life begins, meaning unborn babies are human beings with a right to live. In accepting the case Roe v. Wade from 1973 through 2011, there were close to 53 million legal abortions that were executed in the United States, averaging out to about 1.4 million abortions per year. Looking at 2008 abortion rates, about three in every ten US women under the age of 45 will have an abortion. (Previous sentences were paraphrased from ProCon) There was a study that showed 86% of all abortions were done out of convenience. All forms of abortion should be banned because it is taking the life of an innocent human being, violates the rights of the unborn child, and hypothetically could harm the parent’s relationship with their family. Abortion is basically killing your own child by sucking the baby up with a tube. …show more content…
No matter how early you are planning to get an abortion, you are killing that baby. After only 18 days after conception the baby has a heart-beat. And then the baby develops ears eyes and a tongue at only 28 days. The baby is able to make normal body movements at only 45 days. At only eight weeks all the babies organs are developed. At 12 weeks the baby’s gender is established, and at just 18 weeks the baby can dream. (Third through seventh sentence was paraphrased from Prolife 2016) North Dakota restrictions on abortion are the most sensible, banning abortions after six weeks, and then Arkansas at 12 weeks. But the rest of the states will perform abortions from 20 weeks up until the last second before birth. There are nine states that have no time restriction on when an abortion can happen. (This information was paraphrased using New York Times Company 2013) So much happens in the first 20 weeks of a baby’s development, it is so unbelievable that there are states where it does not matter how long you wait to have an
As to any argument, there are two opposing sides when it comes to the matter of abortions. These two opposers usually refer to themselves as “pro-life” and “pro choice”. Pro-life supporters maintain that abortion is wrong and pro-choice believe that it is a woman’s freedom to choose her pregnancy decisions. When it comes to the topic of abortions, most of us will readily agree that it’s a woman’s choice to decide what her reproductive decisions are, i.e. pro-choice. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is in the question of whether or not abortion is a fundamental right granted to women by the Constitution. Whereas some are convinced that a fetus is considered alive at conception, usually citing the word of God, others maintain that
Abortion refers to the termination of one’s pregnancy, resulting in the removal of one’s fetus to prevent it from being born. While the concept is simple enough, the crux of the argument lies in the morality of this procedure and whether or not a woman should be allowed to sacrifice a fetus to better her own life. Abortion must continue to be legalized in order to ensure that women have that choice.
Abortion has been considered a controversy in the United States for many years. Abortion is the “expulsion of the fetus from the uterus.” (Robert H. Lauer) There are two different types of abortion, miscarriage and induced abortion. Women decided to have abortions for many different reasons and use it as a birth control plan. Many women decide that they can’t have the baby due to schooling, work, money and other responsibilities. Also, many women decide not to have the baby because they are single and don’t want to raise the child alone. (Robert H. Lauer) Although abortion has been legal in the United states recently, it was not legal in many states until 1973. (Thomson Reuters)
An abortion is a surgical removal of a fetus. In some cases, women may not want to go through the surgical part and just want the pill or remove the child. I am not for aborting a child and I say this because a fetus is an unharmed child even if the child was brought into this world as an accident or even on purpose. Just imagine if someone was killing you right now! While you are alive as the beating of your heart beat per second and all of a sudden there is a crucible pain. To me it should not be legal, if it very miserable and disgusting. Abortions should only be preformed if there is a serious problem. Not just because you do not want a child because there are other options like adoptions. Carrying around a child for nine months and not being able to have the baby in your presence may seem like a waste of time. I feel that once you find the right foster parents, then everything will fall into place and you will fall back into you comfort
An abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. Abortion is and has always been an important matter. Abortion is a growing issue in America because; it affects many people; the women who will have the child, and the men who conceive the unborn fetus. When it comes to the Pro-life v. Pro-choice discussion the controversy approaches when the idea of life is defined. Most religious people are pro-life because they think that life is create the moment that the child is conceived they also believe that the fetus should be protected. While others believe that each women should have the right to decide what happens to her body. Those who believe in pro-life don’t understand that there are reasons why women choice to abort and that abortion can’t be beneficial. If abortions were made illegal it would take the right to choose what happened to her body which would question our rights. If the government was able to force a woman to continue a pregnancy could they force a woman to use contraception or undergo sterilization to prevent pregnancy? These questions seem ridiculous, but if our government can force us to continue pregnancy what else can they do. The fact of the matter is that women deserve to have a choice.
“God send us someone to cure cancer, AIDS, etc., etc.” “I did but you aborted them.” Abortion is a very serious topic that is separated by two groups pro-life or pro-choice who often argue on what is fair. Pro-choice is the people who believe it is the woman’s choice to choose if she wants an abortion or not. They don’t think the fetus is a human until a certain point in the pregnancy. Pro-life is when people believe that getting an abortion is killing a human being with rights. They want abortion to be illegal whether the woman wants one or not. Even though some say that having an abortion is killing an innocent baby and that it brings on many problems later in life, many pregnant women are not ready to have a child and some just do not want kids and they should have the right to get an abortion. If abortion was made illegal many would turn to “back-alley abortions” which are done in unsafe ways and it could result in more fatalities.
As I was doing research, I came across an article by Napolitano and I found a startling statistic:
Imagine you just found out you are pregnant. Your parents or boyfriend threaten to leave you if you don’t get rid of the fetus. But you have done your research and know the potential complications. What do you do? Do you have the baby? Do you give it up for adoption? Do you have an abortion? This might not be your story but it is the story of many women in Tennessee. Girls and women struggle with this decision daily. Actually, “3 out of 10 women in the U.S. have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old” (“Abortion Information”). [List] “Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, Uterine Perforation, Placenta Previa, Pre-term Delivers, Handicapped Newborns, Ectopic Pregnancy, Cancer, and Death” (“Abortion Risks: A List of Major”)-These side
Do you know what an abortion is? In the United States, it 's one of the controversial and most debated topic. According to the Guttmacher Institute,22 percent of all pregnancies, excluding miscarriages, end in abortion. Abortion is when a woman chooses or is forced to abort the fetus inside her body. Do you think that a fetus have right to be in the body of a women against the will of the woman? Or does a woman have the choice to abort the fetus, because it 's her body? The answer is often determined by an individual 's personal beliefs about religion, ethics, personal freedom, and other issues.
Some people view it as murder while others see it as an alternate way of birth control. A popular debate in today’s society concerns whether abortion is the termination of the life of a fetus, or rather a way to terminate a pregnancy. Abortion is a voluntary medical procedure in which the embryo or fetus is removed from the uterus to terminate a pregnancy. The thought of abortion has gotten very popular among young adults over the last few decades and have caused many different opinions to rise, this seems to be caused by the evolution of technology in science making abortion cheaper and much safer. However, in the 1800s this was not the case, abortion was banned in Canada, as a result, illegal operations were popular, and in some cases death
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus before viability (dictionary.com). Those who disagree with abortion think that this is not right, mid evil and a form of murder. All of those thoughts are correct; abortion is the act of removing a fetus from the protection of the mother’s uterus. However, is it not the duty of the mother to protect her unborn child? In this day in age, we are still allowing this barbaric method of ending a pregnancy to happen despite the many alternatives. If an unexpected pregnancy should occur, abortion should not the only option. There are many reasons why abortion should not be illegal in all parts of the world, and people need to know the options available. Adoption is certainly a strong option in a world wanting for children. Abortion is not a method of birth control and people need to be educated on pregnancy prevention and take on some responsibilities.
Why should any woman be denied the choice to do what she wants with her own body? Women should have the control to decide what is best for their own body without the interference of the government’s laws. Making abortion legal can save and protect the lives of the pregnant woman and unborn fetus. The abortion procedure can help a woman’s life by saving her from financial stress, difficult responsibilities, risky health concerns, emotional disturbances and it also corresponds with the law . The procedure helps the unborn fetus by preventing an irregular health, emotional, and social development.
Women should have the right to decide whether or not they would like to have an abortion. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines abortion as; “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.” The idea of a woman’s right to have an abortion being taken away is merely incomprehensible.
Abortion is one of those words that the true meaning depends on the person point of view. For me abortion is a medical procedure to end a pregnancy. This issue is very controversial, many people have different opinions or beliefs for or against it. In my particular case I’ve always been against it. Life begins at conception, unborn babies are human beings with the right to live just like us. An unborn baby is capable of feeling pain, just imagine the amount of pain they feel during abortion. Abortion is murder, why are women killing an innocent human being that is unable to make decisions for themselves. There are many ways to prevent abortion. Besides, this procedure is extremely dangerous, and contains many risks for the mother.
