Is abortion murder? Abortion is highly controversial in today’s society. Pro-life advocates firmly believe that abortion is murder and goes against the work of God, while pro-choice people believe that a woman has the right to her own body and can have an abortion in order to maintain her lifestyle. Abortion is not always about murdering a baby, it could also be about saving a mother. Abortion should be legalized, but, only in cases where the mother or her child are at risk. According to pro-life believers, abortion is morally unjust and should not be allowed. In the article, “Abortion is Immoral”, the author claims that “since fetuses have a future like ours, then it follows that abortion is a serious moral wrong.”They believe that the fetus had a set life that they should have lived, a while map of what their fate was meant to be. Since an abortion takes away that possibility, it is equivalent to murder. “Pregnant mothers who allow their child to be adopted are more likely to finish school, obtain a higher level of education, attain better employment, avoid public assistance, and achieve greater financial stability” (Adoption). According to this, if a mother were too carry the child and allow it to be adopted into another family, she would be able to continue her life without the burden of knowing that she had killed another. Abortion should be legalized if the mother or her child are at risk. Abortion allows woman to get control of her life back, but, it can be argued as an immoral practice. In order to allow abortion when needed, but keep pro-life advocates happy, I believe woman should give birth, if possible, and let their baby be adopted. Adoption is a loving alternative to aborting the baby; it gives the child a home and a future, and the mother can go on with her life.
