During the most common abortion, they inject poison into the baby’s head, then they proceed to pull off each body part of the baby crushing all organs until they get to the head. They crush the skull and pull it out as the last step; this is called a Dilation and Evacuation (D & E) (2nd Trimester Surgical Abortion). Any interruption that takes place after twenty-eight weeks of being pregnant is known as an abortion (Abortion 1). What does the term abort mean? There are many different ways to describe what “abort” means. One way it can be used is that when you abort a mission you are leaving it before the mission is completed. When aborting a baby, this is essentially what is being done. “aborting” a mission, or in this case a pregnancy, that …show more content…
If a woman wants to control her own decisions, she should have not gotten pregnant in the first place if she did not want a baby. A lot of Pro-Choice advocates want to pull the sympathy card when getting pregnant, but what they do not want to own up to is that they knew the chances they took when having sexual relations. Some people would like to state that they were raped. Although I do feel sorry for these women, only 1 percent of all abortions (45 million per year) is from rape or incest (Abortion Statistics 1). If there is a situation of rape, some women want to abort the baby because it is not fair that they were raped so they should not have to keep the baby. This is NOT the baby’s fault. It is the rapist fault so therefore they should be the one who is punished; not the most innocent one in the situation. Also there are women who have health complications which is why they want an abortion, but this is only 3 percent of abortions that are related to health problems (Abortion Statistics 1). Abortion can be harmful to the mother. It can impact any future pregnancies. Some women later experienced complications getting pregnant, throughout the pregnancy or while giving birth after having a previous abortion. In rare cases, some women cannot have another baby after an abortion. Although physical recovery after an abortion can happen in just a …show more content…
We should not decide if a baby needs to live or not because it is not our place to determine if someone is worthy enough to be born and live or not. God’s plan should not be changed or altered in any way because he made it how we wanted it. God blessed all births and wants all babies to be born. We should not be the one to call the shots on who is born and who is not, that is not our place and only God’s place. Yes, we do have a free will to do what we would like but we also need to listen to what we are told to do through God and His word that he gives us. God wants us all to protect the innocent because they are not guilty of innocence. In the Bible it is said, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful” (New International Version, Psalms 139:13-14). He knew us before anyone else knew us. He made us and handcrafted us to be one-of-a-kind and different from all others. We are also told, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them” (New International Version, Genesis 1:27). How special is it that mankind is made after the most perfect thing in existence. God made us all in his image, and we should not erase His image from anyone. We should protect the precious life that God has given us. He does not
Pro-choice activists only focus on the positives of being able to choose whether a woman can keep her baby. They don’t look at the risks that come with abortion like “shame, guilt, and regret” (Chittom & Newton, 2015). Abortion doesn’t only effect a woman mentally, but also physically. There is a possibility of death or complications when having an abortion. Anything can go wrong even if it is rare for it to happen. I don’t believe a woman should put her physical health at risk in order to kill her own baby. It sound harsh saying the word “kill”, but that is the reality. Pro-choice supporters try to shy away from using phrases like “killing” and “baby” because of how harsh it sounds. They would rather use words like “fetus”, “embryo” and “annihilate”. Using those word make the reality of killing an innocent baby seem less harsh. They bring up reasons to support their stance like stating that “a woman must have the power to control a decision as significant as parenthood, and that individuals should be able to influence decisions to the same extent that those decisions affect their lives” (Anderson, 2015). Their reasoning isn 't good enough. A woman can have the power to make her own decisions at another time. She can decide many things for herself, but abortion shouldn 't be one of
As portrayed in the evidence above a women’s right to abortion should be legal as becoming pregnant is a big deal. Women sometimes cannot control their bodies as they get into situations that are not their fault, like rape. Even though women sometimes could avoid getting into situations that
Women have a moral right to decide what they do with their bodies. For the most part, female bodies past the age of twelve are capable of holding, developing, and “incubating” a baby; with the help of antibiotics, cesareans, and powerful drugs, girls are able to survive the actual process of childbirth. But being able to have a child and being a parent are two very different concepts. By agreeing to parent a child you are investing and ensuring at least eighteen years of love, support, health, money, time, and dedication. It can be argued that raising a child is the biggest and most transformative thing that most of us will ever do and the notion that a woman should just “go with it” upon finding themselves pregnant after rape or a broken condom completely diminishes the role of motherhood. I’m pro-choice because just like humans, contraceptives are imperfect. The Pill has become one of the most sought after forms of birth control with headlines blaring the famous, “99% effective.” With its fifty year legacy, it easily makes the Pill the oldest and seemingly the most reliable contraceptive. Under perfect use the pill works 99% of the time. However, people are imperfect, and each year in our imperfect world, one out of every eleven women on the
...lives are lost through abortion. Females can also cultivate a loss of their fertility or develop more than before miscarriages after an abortion. Not only are you taking another being’s life, you are risking putting damage to your own body as well.
As defined by the Merriam- Webster dictionary, abortion is “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus as a spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation- miscarriage, the induced expulsion of a human fetus, or the expulsion of a fetus by domestic animal often due to the infection at any time before completion of pregnancy” (“Abortion”).
Are you giving it a label to convince me that killing the fetus is not wrong, or are you convincing yourself? This is a mostly ethical point of view on abortion. If a woman is pregnant, she should accept the responsibility of having the child and if she doesn’t want the child, to give it up for adoption. You say it is your right to have control over your body, but where was that control when the child was conceived? As for rape, well, I have a story to tell about the ability to love that child.
What gives us the right to decide who should live and who should die? That is God's decision. The fetus, the innocent human life whose only protection in the world is its mother's womb can no longer feel protected because even its very own mother could have it murdered. Yet that baby did nothing to deserve to have its life snatched away so suddenly. How can a tiny baby who can feel, breathe, and move be condemned to die without ever saying or doing anything wrong? In our constitution, we are all given the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Why is it that a baby is not given these rights as well?
In these instances, women have no choice in the matter. If the act of sex was not consensual, making her carry a child for nine months is just cruel. Just image yourself in this type of predicament. Imagine the emotional pain of being raped, imagine waking up every day for the next nine months with a child inside your womb that was forcedly put there against your will. By forcing that woman to carry full term and deliver, you are forcing that woman through a great deal of emotional pain as well as physical pain. You are punishing her for having the ability to carry a child and potentially scarring her for the rest of her life. The woman now has to take care of this baby on her own, a baby that is a constant reminder of the horrible crime of which she was a victim. This child will be at many disadvantages before it is even born such as the resentment from its own mother, having no father around, the possibility of mental and physical deformities from being a product of incest, etc. How is this fair to either the mother or the child? It’s not. If you believe a woman should be forced to give birth no matter what, you are saying that a woman’s life is only important until she is pregnant. You are now classifying her as a vessel, not a human life with rights and
The aftermath of Roe vs. Wade, when Jane Roe successfully had abortion legalized in various places, many abortion clinics all over the country sprung up. Clinics like Planned Parenthood and NARAL “sought to give the right meaning by ensuring both the newly legal abortion would be accessible and that women seeking abortions would not be victimized by inflated prices or untrained doctors performing unsafe office abortions” (Tribe 142). There are many reasons women seek abortion. Many pro-choice people say that a rape victim should not have to give birth to her attacker’s child, and to do so is attacking ...
procedure to end pregnancy and take away the life of an unborn baby. An abortion can be done two different ways using medicine or surgically removed by removing the embryo of the fetus and placenta from the uterus(“Abortion”).Both
Pro-Choice advocates believe that abortion should be legalized because they feel it is necessary to empower women with choice. They have strong opinions that women are not subordinate, so they ought to be allowed to make moral decisions and should not be forced to have a child, but why should the child have to suffer for the wrongdoings of his mother? Since only women can get pregnant, male legislators have no right to vote on anything abortion-related because it doesn’t affect him personally. If an innocent woman is raped and later becomes pregnant, should she be forced to have the baby? Well, according to pro-choice believers, she should have the right to decide for herself if she wants an abortion. An innocent unborn baby definitely should not be punished for the crime and poor decisions of his father. The mother must stick out the tough nine months that it takes to be pregnant in order to save the life of the faultless developing child inside of her. Adoption is always an option, and a much better alternative to murder. Yes, a woman does have a choice, but there is always one morally right way to go when con...
Abortion can have abounding negative effects on the mother, one of the many being permanent infertility. Most of the time, this only happens if the mother has abundant abortions, but considering there are 40- 50 million abortions per year, the results of infertility is increasing.
Abortion is one of the most debatable subjects in our society. There are many different points of views when it comes to this sensitive topic. Initially when I started researching the topic I was almost certain that I would fall into the category of Pro-life individuals. However, after thinking long and hard and taking rape into consideration I have to say my views have changed completely. Although I am still against abortion, I think there should be certain exceptions made for women who are sexually assaulted and become pregnant from the rape. Hopefully after reading the research information I am providing, you will also take into consideration an abortion in the event of rape.
Abortion is a very controversial issue in our society. However, people tend to feel differently about abortions for rape victims. The contriversy over the abortion issue is that if a woman is responsible enough to go through the actions to become pregnant, she should be able to have the child. Churches believe that abortion is murder. However, if a woman is raped, she did not give her consent to have sexual intercourse with the offender. According to Schuman and Scott, although there are many people that have mixed feelings about abortion, in other words they believe that it is okay at some times, but at other times they feel that it is wrong, the most extreme pro-life people still believe that abortion is wrong “when pregnancy results from rape or incest.” (Schuman and Scott 786) In these situations, however, pro-choice believe that women have as much right to choose what happens to their body. According to Kimmel, in some states abortion is only legal in “cases of rape or of a threat to the mother’s health” (Kimmel 255).
Where mother life is at risk, when pregnancy occur due to rape, where contraception fail and where mother intentionally became pregnant. I am against this believe because as we know if mother life is at risk then fetus life is also at risk; fetus is fully dependent with mother. If is planning for pregnancy she can meet with a doctor and ask is she ready to be a mother. On the other hand, if it is unplanned and unprepared then either she should be more careful about being a pregnant by pills, using contraception or any other medications if not then avoid sexual intercourse. In the case of pregnancy occurs due to rape what I personally believe is abortion call kill her. Her body is already in risk by rape and if she decides to do abortion in that situation then there is more probability of dying. Instead of that, she can give birth and give to adoption organization. Therefore, the people who want baby will take care of that baby. Second, some believe fetus is not person so it is permissible. I believe If killing a human being is wrong than killing a fetus is also wrong because it is like killing human cell. We cannot assume that to abort in early stage is nothing even though it is not well developed, but it matters. Abortion is not comparable with a haircut or an appendectomy that is the big mistake in life. She says we value our future, even if we do not value it because whether I value my future or not it is my future. She is trying to say fetus also have future, so before taking abortion decision we have to think about fetus future like ours. No one have right to kill an innocent human being because killing that being is like killing his
