A time that I collaborated with others whose experiences and beliefs differentiate from mine is when I participated in AAU Basketball. People with multiple personalities came from different parts of Texas to play basketball. We all did not get along at first that’s because we were unfamiliar to each other. My teammates were either not understanding, happy, mad, serious, every practice it was like an emotional rollercoaster. We were all different but shared the same love for one sport we got over our differences and bonded over the love for the game. We scrimmaged each other, worked out together, ate together shared rooms together, and encouraged each other through basketball. We shared our childhood stories, and what made us want to play
The University of Dayton Men’s Basketball Program. There have been many historical moments with the University of Dayton Flyers Men’s Basketball team, but Mark Weaver recalls the one that meant most to him. It took place on March 24, 1967, in Louisville’s Freedom Hall for the Final Four of the NCAA (National College Athletic Association) tournament against the highly favored North Carolina Tar Heels (Collett 228). This was the third straight NCAA tournament appearance for the Flyers, but their first ever Final Four (Collett 228). It turned out that the Flyers smashed North Carolina, seventy-six to sixty-two.
Entering my final season of AAU basketball I knew I had set myself up for a roller coaster of emotions, whether it was from the night of my first practice, the weekend of my first tournament, or my first time on the road with my new team. This was because a lot was on the line this season, and I strived to make this season my best, and most enjoyable. This is mostly because this was the final year getting the opportunity to put on my red and black jersey every tournament. It was my last season traveling around the country with my teammates every weekend with one goal, to win, and it was my last season to improve my skills all around, in an attempt to further my basketball career into college. During the first few practices I was nervous for how the season would go because I noticed my coach was a lot harder on me than he was to my teammates and I did not know how to take that at first.I was not used to to his coaching style of being loud, in your face, and tough, or his emphasis on "perfection" because on my past teams I was used to being the best person on the team, and my coach rarely had negative criticism for me, so I took his intense coaching style terribly.
For my ethnography project I chose to study the life at elementary school basketball games in Albemarle, NC. In this paper, I will refer to all the players by their number. I will also refer to the people in the crowd by what they were wearing on that particular day. The main focus of this ethnography is to see why people come to little kids Saturday basketball games. Is the audience there for a specific relationship to the team, or just to watch free basketball?
The National Basketball Association is the most popular professional basketball league in North America; it is also the most popular professional basketball league in the world. The National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of the most diverse businesses in the world, which was the deliberate plan of former NBA commissioner David Stern. The NBA was once an all white and male dominated league, now through years of an aggressive effort to diversify the organization the NBA is now one of the shining beacons for diversity, tolerance and acceptance in the workplace. Former NBA commissioner David Stern spearheaded and put into action on the best examples of creating and cultivation opportunities for success based on merit. “When David Stern steps down as NBA Commissioner in 2014, among the legacies he will have created is an era in professional sport when leagues and teams hired the best people possible. He embraced the moral imperative for diversity while helping to show the other leagues that diversity is also a business imperative. The evidence for the NBA’s continued commitment to racial equality is seen in the strong grades in the League Office and in many key areas on the team level.”(Lapchick, R.) To fully understand the transformation of the league we will cover the history of the association, team diversity, league diversity, the NBA diversity initiative, and current diversity issues.
As people look back on the sport of basketball, most would notice it was once six on six instead of five on five. In case someone doesn’t know what basketball is, it is a sport where teams try to advance the ball and shoot it through one basket and to keep the opposition from scoring through the other. Women’s basketball has grown rapidly since the 1970’s. Until then, women and girls had been allowed to play only a six-player game in which offensive and defensive players were rooted to one half of the court (Basketball). It seems completely bizarre to even think about the game with twelve players on the court rather than ten. An abundant amount of things changed when they transitioned into the new system of basketball. Defense, offense, amount
“The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the “next level” to play college basketball (DI, II, or III) is slim. In fact, only 3.4% of high school players go on to play college basketball. Taking it even further, only 1.2% of college basketball players go on to get drafted in the NBA” (Winters, 2016). There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.
John wooden a former player and later became a basketball coach once said. “A coach much never forget that he is a leader and not merely a person with authority.” Basketball has been something in our everyday lives for a while. To allot it something they just can't live without and others just choose to not even bother with it. I think that it is worth the time to look more into basketball. Basketball can be started at a elementary school level, and they can usually go to sign up at local boys and girls clubs maybe at their school if they offer it and can even join through their church if they attend one and they offer it to them. Being a coach seems easy to most parents but it really isn't how it isn't is a coach must ensure that players
The individuals I interviewed were from different walks of life; however, they all had similar experiences
Today, there are numerous problems and issues that haunt the world of college sports. Throughout the history of sanctioned college sports, there have been many situations in which the NCAA or other governing bodies have had to change their rules to aid in rectifying these situations. However, the forefathers of the NCAA and college sports never could have imagined what the state of college sports would be like today. All problems that the NCAA is currently facing, can in certain manors be tied together to form a few larger issues within the world of college sports. When these problems can be rectified, then the world of college sports can be reformed into its proud former state.

The sports industry is growing worldwide, especially the basketball industry, which is regarded in second place behind football. The global prevalence of basketball is unquestionable, especially among the young. Basketball is a dynamic team sport that involves a pattern of alternating, active, and skilled movement activities. Soccer is my favorite sport and over the years playing for school and of school. I noticed that there are good and bad rival teammates. That there are some rival teammates that are cool and chill because they don 't mean to hit you and if they do they will apologize like "My bad man". Then there are other rival teammates that want to hurt you just to get a score without a “my bad” and also they brag too much to a point where they boast in front of the oposing team that they scored on and they are the worst. With teammates you find guys with a common interest within the sport. That help each other in order to make a score and win the game. Then there are teammates who want to hog the ball even if they can’t make the score and you are free. They are the worst to play with because in the end those hogging the ball can cost us winning the game. While playing soccer you find cool people that share a common interest. Now that I have introduced myself and talked about my favorite types of foods which are tacos and steak. I have also shared about my family and how they get on my nerves sometimes, and my favorite sport soccer.
Whether it is watching from a television in a living room or watching from the stands in a stadium, people love watching basketball. For a basketball game to be entertaining to its viewers it has to have talented players, freak athletes, an exciting atmosphere, unpredictability, popularity, and intensity. Even though the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) basketball lacks in talent, it exceeds NBA (National Basketball Association) basketball as more enticing to watch because of its unpredictability and atmosphere.
Can you imagine playing the game of basketball without a three point line? Basketball has constantly changed throughout history and continues to change today. The National Basketball Association has risen in popularity and is now one of America’s more popular sports. Because basketball continues to be a popular sport, a fan should learn about the origin of the NBA, how the game evolved from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, and how the players today impact the way it is played.
If you were to ask my friends what I love to do, my guess is that the majority of them would come up with this reply, "He loves to play sports". Sports are a big part of my life, and if I had to choose my favorite sport to play it would have to be basketball. I couldn't imagine going a week without being able to touch a basketball, and I thought I would never have to. But on one summer afternoon, that all changed when I broke my leg. It left me on crutches for two months, and not being able to play basketball all that summer. At first I thought it wouldn't be so bad, getting all the attention and sympathy from everyone. However, after one game I soon realized that I would do just about anything to get rid of those horrible crutches and get back on the court.
Basketball is a very complex sport that takes many years to fully grasp the Complete concept of. Basketball is for anyone who is willing to get a little physical, for you are running up and down the court with ten other players while playing defence and offence. There are just a few things you need to focus on when starting off. These include; dribbling, passing, shooting, and defence. You need to learn the rules and regulations in the game as well.
