Imagine a world where masks are illegal or non-existent. Whether your intentions are for the good or bad positive or negative you have good or bad intentions, masks are not an option at all. All of society would be completely different, maybe possibly for the worse. You would not be able to save or fix relationships, hide or distort the truth, or even change your persona in anyway; you are forced to be your pure, unedited self whether you like it or not. Embracing and expressing yourself would become an extremely different experience, most likely in a bad way. In the real world, people who don’t wear masks are tremendously exceptionally unbelievably hard to find. Everyone everybody has their own reasons for wearing a mask,

whether for the benefit for of themselves or the people around them. Sometimes, the effects of masks are not positive for anyone the wearer, or anyone surrounding them; bonds between two people are can be broken, the truth is can be exposed when lies were told for years years before, etc. Masking one’s self can completely change someone’s persona, in a one of two ways; good or bad positively or negatively. Ask yourself: would you be able to be feel comfortable and/or happy without your mask? There are times when it is beneficial to mask one’s self be a wearer of a mask, but there are also times when masking one’s self is harmful.
Masking one’s self can Masks have the power and control to save bonds and relationships, bring joy happiness and peace love to a society, and many other things etc. In the short film My Dad is a Liar, the father and young daughter in the video both masked themselves, wanting to ignore the truth both sharing the same desire to store hide away the truth and keep peace and joy in the relationship, thinking that the honesty would somehow harm their bond. Although the two of them were not very wealthy and were not in a very good situation, they felt that they had it all were on top of the world because the happiness and love affection they gave each other shared was more than enough to please themselves the small family. The father and daughter in the film wore masks in order to keep their bond relationship safe, which is exactly what the action their choice of actions did for them. This type form use of masking masks has the power to preserve the crucial joy bliss and peace love in relationships, which is exactly what everyone needs; even you. Imagine that you are in this the situation of the little girl. If masking had not played its part, anguish and tension would form between you and your father and overthrow diminish the happiness all the smiles between you that you share. In the short story I Am Still Me Inside, Mia, the main character, had always been the perfect, ideal, Asian girl that society wanted asked for. Until one day she decided to put on her mask and show express and embrace her true honest self. “It seems to give me the power to fight against stereotypes forced on me, and gives me the confidence that I never had before.” once Mia had transformed her appearance by dying her hair bright red and pierced her eyebrow, she was able to express show and flaunt herself instead of being the typical Asian girl that everybody expected her to be. Some argue that masking yourself is never a good idea and will always lead to a bad outcome, but this is proof that this statement is not always true. You may still have the mentality that wearing a mask will lead to bad and only bad. This thinking is partially correct, but masks can play an extremely helpful role in a big variety of situations many different situations.
On the other hand, masking one’s self may also lead to a poor outcome Masks also have the ability to confine thoughts, hide or distort truths, and even replace one’s real persona or appearance.

In the short biography The Scream by Edward Munch, he was suppressing his real and honest feelings by not telling anyone what his thoughts were communicating to anyone what his thoughts and emotions were. “Munch’s mental state was on full display, and his style varied greatly depending on which emotion had taken hold on him while working on each particular painting.” this quote expresses how is trying to get across that Munch had confined all of his real emotions and thoughts vibes and mentality; Munch had refused to talk about it himself and did not let anyone try to make him feel better give him the mental health that he needed. He masked his feelings until the point where he physically could not hold himself in. But he since Munch was still so stubborn, so he decided to express communicate portrayed himself in through the work of his paintings. In similarly to Munch, the song I Am Not My Hair by India Arie shows how Arie was unable to communicate express or embrace herself her unmodified self to society. She would always change her hair when she was younger because she wanted so badly to gain acceptance from society as a whole. Whether she flat ironed it or permed it, it was never able to represent her, permed, or braided her hair, it was never able to say “India Arie”. Arie the lyrics of the song states,“I am not my hair, I am not this skin, I am not your expectations” which means that she is saying that is trying to say that her personality, IQ, and nature do not depend on looks one’s appearance, but on who you really are on the inside. As they always say, “It’s what is on the inside that counts”. Masks can may have the ability to lead the wearer to unhappiness and pain to the wearer and people around them. These effects can also disturb people around them. Some might

communicate that masks lead to good and only good, but it is possible that poor outcomes will occur. Do you think that masks do not have the ability to hurt anyone in anyway? They can lead to dishonest and fake relationships, cause people to lose their sense of honesty, and commit other negative acts.
There are times when it is beneficial to be wearing a mask, but there are also times when it is harmful. If the wearer of the mask person wearing the mask is using it for a good cause, such as to express and embrace him or herself or in order to save a relationship, then is no problem with the action at all. On the other hand, if the wearer is abusing the power of a mask; using it to distort the truth or to hide a quality about one’s self, then the possible outcomes are extremely harmful then the outcome of the action is extremely detrimental. “We understand how dangerous a mask can be, yet it can change lives for the better. When I once owned a mask, I made sure to treat it carefully, and to not abuse its power; many things could go wrong.” - Patrick Rothfuss. This quote communicates that masks have so much control over us when we wear them, and the results can go two ways. This quote is saying that a mask will do what you ask it to; do not abuse the strengths of a mask, for it will always come back to haunt you. A mask can be an amazing way to set one free from hostage confinement, or it can control one’s freedom of truth honesty and commitment, keeping them trapped held hostage within themselves.
