Why do you want to be on A-Team? * Being a part of A-Team would give me the opportunity to give new students an OUTSTANDING experience just like mine. This program helped me to realize my leadership potential, and I would love to have the opportunity to help other kids realize their leadership potential too. Everyone’s energy at the conference was so positive and supportive, and I want to help other students have the same experience. The speakers at the conference were also very insightful and provided me with new perspectives. I would love to have the opportunity to listen to them and other speakers in this upcoming conference. I loved my time at HOBY because everyone was so supportive and energetic, and I would love to be able to contribute …show more content…
Without even knowing him, he has made a huge impact on my life, and I want to be able to thank him for everything he has unknowingly allowed me to do. Personally, I have only run for a student office or an elected position once in 6th grade when I ran for class treasurer, but I lost that election and lost so much confidence in myself regarding my leadership skills in school. But after HOBY, I have been able to regain that confidence again. I ran for my school’s National Honor Society Vice President last year, and while I didn’t win, I know that I didn’t win not because I wasn’t a good leader. I know that my leadership potential is huge and that position just wasn’t right for me, but I also know that the right position will eventually come along, and I need to be ready to seize the opportunity. It is because of Hugh O’Brian’s organization that I have been able to build up this confidence, and I would love to have the opportunity to show the world how outstanding this man was. Millions are in debt to him for starting this program, and I am among the many who want to extend their gratitude. Hopefully, the memoir would even promote the program and help to change the lives of millions
The Varsity team lost to the JV team because they did not work together as team. Though the Varsity team consisted of high performing individuals for speed, strength, and endurance but together they lacked the cohesiveness to perform as a single unit. Also among them there were a lot of internal conflicts cropping up like blaming each other, lack of trust and confidence in the ability of others etc., which were not identified, or resolved at appropriate time. Each one did not believe he was working as a part of the team; rather they tried to maximize their individual capabilities alone. In addition the Varsity team lacked a strong leader, mostly people were disruptors.
My team consists of four other people besides myself, Lauren Chojnaki, Alexa-Louise Patnode, and Jacobe Loewen, and Ryan Tyriver. Together, we are tasked with the mission to complete a stakeholder analysis regarding a specific organization and their structure. For this project to be completed successfully, it is important that all team members are able to cooperate with one another and are able to use their different strengths to create the best end product.
In my junior year of high school, I joined the leadership program called ASB, also known as associated student body. I had the honor and role of being the school’s unofficial videographer to promote events with videos and short films posted on our social media sites because of my passion for video editing and artistic abilities. I also became responsible as being chairman for one of our committees to organize special recognition events for our senior athletes. ASB made my work stressful and challenging, but it was a good way to connect with others.
I am involved in several clubs, such as Spanish club and HOSA, although I do not hold office in any of them, I try to serve as a leader and to use my intelligence to help the school. As a leader I am capable of using my potential to aid in inspiring others. I hope to prove myself to be a good example and guide for those who need help. As a new inclusion to NHS, I am committed to help my fellow students study and to do their best. I possess a variety of study and organization skills that I can pass on to other students. I am a open-minded and patient person, making it easy for me to take criticism willingly and accept recommendations thoughtfully. I can work well either individually or on a team and can Inspire positive attitudes and behaviors in others. I promise to utilize my leadership skills and work with other NHS members to achieve success for the school. With my characteristics, I will inspire new concepts and further develop the character of NHS. I plan to volunteer in events as much as possible, and can fill in for other people who can’t be in attendance. Whether I’m volunteering or helping a fellow student, I vow to act with honesty, integrity, diligence, and the best of my ability. With my skills and abilities, I Would be proud to step up and represent NHS with confidence. I am a great strategist and am able to
Despite not being a part of over 20 different organizations, as some claim to be, being a part of a smaller number of groups has allowed me to focus on developing my leadership skills more thoroughly than I could otherwise. Not spreading myself too thin has made me much more committed and involved in the organizations that I am a part of, making my influences so much stronger. I firmly believe that I am trying my absolute best not only in school, but in leaving my comfort zone and being an active member in our community. I am honored that I have been considered for such a prestigious invitation as
To stay on the JMU cheer team or to quit was a very hard decision that I had to make this past month. Knowing I had leadership responsibilities as a third year veteran on the team made this decision extremely difficult for me. I had to consider all the parties involved which consisted of myself, my teammates, and my coaches. Several factors fell into play when deciding what was best not only myself but for my team as well. The first and most important factor I had to consider was my physical health as I have back problems that requires annual back procedures in order to be able to cheer. A relatively new factor in my decision making progress was the hiring of the new JMU cheer coach, which was extremely difficult for the upperclassmen to adjust to. My last few personal factors that played a role in my decision consisted of getting a job and focusing more on my school work. Next I had to consider what was best for the cheer team. I knew as an upperclassmen I needed to support the cheer program to help keep it strong and consistent during the coaching transition. This was hard to do when several other upper classmen were quitting the team due to this change. I also knew I had a responsibility to teach the incoming freshman new skills the same way the juniors and seniors taught me when I was a freshman. Not only did my team need me but I also took into consideration the contract I signed when making the team my freshman year. After taking everything into consideration
The NCAA has been around for more than 100 years. Recruiting has evolved immensely over this period of time. Dozens of recruiting laws have been added over the years. The NCAA is strict about these laws, and many schools have been punished for breaking them. One law that many coaches are trying to get passed is the law against the recruiting of young athletes. Why is this? College coaches are beginning to recruit athletes at a very young age. This can have a negative impact on the athlete’s mental and physical state. The pressure exerted on these young children to decide their future completely takes away their childhood. It is also an enormous amount of pressure on the athlete’s parents. It can be hard trying to find the right balance between getting involved in your child’s decision or handing them the full reigns in
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. Over the years, these opportunities have presented me with many chances to enjoy extracurricular involvement, meet new people, and mature into a
I want to be in ASB because I think that this is a great opportunity for me to practice my leadership skills to help all students at Medea Creek. I enjoy helping people and working with others and I know that ASB is a wonderful chance for me to do so. I know that our school should have voices that help others who cannot speak up for themselves and I will help them raise their voices in school. I want to be part of ASB because I think that this can help me mature, and also help achieve my goal for life, which is becoming the president of the U.S. I believe that ASB is a unique opportunity to help me become a game-changer in our school and community. ASB students make changes in their community every day. I think that that is an amazing thing, getting to impact your community every single day.
My favorite authors have written extremely personal books about their own lives and experiences. One of my favorite authors, Nic Sheff, writes about his experiences through addiction, and the recovery process. His father,my other favorite author, David Sheff, also writes about addiction; but in the prospect of an outsider who has a loved one go through it. They don 't know but the books they wrote helped me grow so much as a person. It gave me closure to see different perspectives. Their books were completely raw, there were no parts that were sugarcoated about addiction. I have a pretty good story to tell and I know I could change some people 's lives if I shared it. I would want to start the book once I am settled into my career. So I can have a couple different perspectives of my own in the book, maybe share views of how I thought the job would be. And the after comparison of how it turned out. Another legacy I am seriously considering is trying to establish my own organization. I am already really active within my community. I have over 300 hours of community service and it has not stopped there. I think giving back is very important in life because some of us have been very blessed while others have suffered hard inimaginable lives. The organization I would like to leave behind would be to homeless people. I have done some research and a
Being apart of a team is one thing I can say I love. I have always loved to get creative, taking pictures, and writing; being apart of this team just seemed like the perfect fit. It has always been amazing to see how creative the yearbooks get, and to get to experience the creativity would be spectacular. Also, the yearbook is something everyone gets to see, which opens an opportunity to be involved in a major part of school. I may not have a lot of experience with being apart of an actual yearbook staff, but that leads to more opportunities and new experiences.
Travel teams have the best players, but being on a travel team has a cost. It’s an honor to be on a travel team because it means you’re one of the best in your area. In the article “Travel Agents for Youth Sports Teams? Not All See It as a Perk”, Tammy La Gorce explains how much of a burden it is to be on a sports travel team because of the price you pay. These travel teams have been spending a lot of money, but now people are working to help travel teams with all the
The Boys Varsity and JV sprints team performed admirably during the winter season. Under the new leadership of Coach Melanie Rhoden, the boys competed in several invitationals as well as the conference and regional meets. After a difficult round of tryouts in November, the new 2016-2017 sprints team was ready for action. The new captains: Jacob Adolphe, Sam Liu, and Akhil Madhugiri (listed from fastest to slowest), and the rest of the seniors began their last winter season with Thomas Jefferson. After a few meets were cancelled due to poor weather and some growing pains within the new 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays; the team enjoyed several breakout performances at the VA showcase meet in January. The first day of the meet ran several hours over, resulting in the team getting to the hotel around 2 AM.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
