This is a story of Max, who went to sleep an ordinary boy and woke up with an unordinary ability. The ability to with his dog Comet. He first realized this when his dog came in that morning and started barking. After wiping his eyes and making sure he wasn't dreaming, he said to his dog Comet "it's Saturday, I'm sleeping in." Comet responded with "In that case get up you lazy bum and play outside with me" Max thought this was the coolest thing ever. "When my dog barks, I hear with his words exactly what he's saying" This will be a very interesting day for sure. Max and Comet went downstairs to eat breakfast. Max ate a bowl of Fruit loops and He gave Comet a bit of dry dog food in his bowl. Have you ever wondered what your pets are thinking? Personally, I wonder all the time. I purposely mess with my dog to see how he reacts. Well, now you can at least get an idea of what they are thinking. The humorous short story, ¨A Conversation With My Dogs,¨ by Merrill Markoe is about a dog owner who is having a conversation with her dogs Bob and Stan about how they follow her around everywhere. The author is attempting to portray the thoughts of dogs when communicating with them. In this instance, the owner is confused about why they want to follow her everywhere. This short story is a high comedy that uses witty humor and situational irony to make the audience laugh while giving the lesson.
Billy is coming home from work one day when suddenly he hears some dogs up the street fighting. He goes to check it out and finds them picking on a redbone hound. He saves the dog and cares for it through the night. It reminds him of his childhood. When Billy was ten years old he lived on a farm in the Ozark Mountains of northeastern Oklahoma. He wanted two good coonhounds very badly, he called it “puppy love”, but his papa could not afford to buy him the dogs. For many months, Billy tries to content himself with some rodent traps his papa gives him, but he still wants a dog. Then one day he finds a sportsman’s catalog in an abandoned campsite. In it he sees an ad for good hounds, at $25 each. He decides he wants to save $50 and order himself two hounds. Billy works hard, selling fruit and bait to fishermen, and gathering fruit that he sells to his grandfather at his store. Finally, he saves enough money and gives it to his grandfather to order the dogs for him and asks him to keep it s secret. When a notice comes that they have arrived at the mail depot in the nearby town of Tahlequah, they decide to go into town the next week. That night Billy decides he can not wait any longer. He packs himself a little food, and heads of for town following the river through the woods. He walks all night, and finally reaches town in the morning. The people in town laugh and stare at the young hillbilly, but it does not bother Billy he is there on a mission to get his dogs. He finally collects his dogs and walks back out of town with their small heads sticking out of his bag. Some schoolchildren mob around him and knock him down, but the town sheriff rescues him. The sheriff is impressed with Billy’s determination, and says he has grit. That, night Billy camped in a cave with his two puppies. They wake up in the middle of the night to hear the call of a mountain lion. Billy builds a fire to keep them safe, while the bigger of the two dogs, the male, barks into the night air.
One day, he went up to the pack and said to them, "I am lonely and tired, and wish to join your pack. I will help you hunt if you let me join." Now, the Wolf brothers, knew Coyote to be a trickster, and didn't believe a word he said. Even so, they decided that it would be amusing to see him try to hunt. And so, they agreed to let him join them, but only if he would help hunt. "There," said one of the five, "There is a rabbit running through this field, go and catch it, Coyote." The five Wolf brothers tried not to laugh as Coyote ran after the rabbit, jumping back and forth after the rabbit, making a fool of himself. Finally, one of the Wolf brothers put Coyote out of his misery, and brought the rabbit home for all six of them to share. Sitting at the den that night, Coyote noticed that all five brothers were looking up into the clear night sky. "What are you looking at?" Coyote asked the youngest of the five. "Oh, I don't know if I can tell you," he said. The next night, the same thing happened, and so Coyote decided to ask the second youngest, "What are you all at?" "I can't tell you," the brother replied. The third and fourth night, Coyote asked the middle and second

“squick”! “Bang”! I walk in trying to find out where i’m going. Fast. Before anyone notices me. My mom is a vet and i really want a dog so bad! “Lily” said my mom. “squick” my mom enters the room seeing me look at all of the dogs. “Mom can i please…..” “Do you really want a dog this bad”? My mom asks. “Yes and i will do anything… anything” i say in a soft way. “Fine but only if you take care of it and clean up after it”. “thank you.. mom.” I whisper as my mom leaves the room. “Now it’s time to pick out a dog”.
Lenny has a condition know as dry eye. This means that his eyes don't "make tears". So the vet showed me how to put natural tear eye drops, the same as people use, into the dog's eyes. (Oops that should be eye. Lenny had to have one eye removed two days before he came to live with me. The reason for this is very simple- abuse.) Now it's 9:00p.m., time for me to put drops in his eye for the first time. I held the little dog tightly against my chest and carefully poised the bottle above his eye and squeezed a single drop carefully into the fur on his ear! After several attempts some of the drops made it into his eye. The next morning was just as bad. Eventually I had an idea. When I put drops in my own eyes I put them in the corner. I don't hold the bottle directly over my eye. Lenny was squirming and unhappy because twice a day a stranger tried to poke him in the eye with a drippy foreign object. That's enough to scare anyone! Now I had a plan. At 9:00p.m. I did not clamp the little dog against me and stick a bottle over his eye. Instead I gently laid him on the floor. While I petted and talked to him, I held the bottle at the corner of his eye. Two drops later most of the liquid was in Lenny's eye. I was thrilled. Lenny still didn't want the drops, but after only two or three times of this new procedure he no longer resisted, as much. As time went by liquid drops alone were not enough. Now
On Thanksgiving Louis went across the street to eat with Jud and Norma. After eating he went back home and fell asleep. As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home.
Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted a dog. Never did I think that dogs would end up being by biggest fear. I was just a little kid around 6 years old when it happened. I was walking home from my friend’s house when I saw a stray dog, it was in the middle of the street blocking my way, I decided to walk past it, while I was walking it started growling at me, I hesitated but still kept trying to walk then suddenly it got up and started barking empathically towards me. I was terrified, my first initial reaction being a 6 year old kid was to scare it away, I was ignorant. I picked up a rock and threw it at the dog thinking it’ll get scared and run away. I was wrong. The dog had enough it made a whimpering noise then started barking even louder
