A Student Compares Websites on Rally Racing
The sport of rallying is fast becoming popular around the world. With races taking place on countries around the world, the internet is an invaluable resource to fans around the globe. The official site of the World Rally Championship (WRC) can be found at www.wrc.com. There are other unofficial sites such as, www.worldrally.net, and www.worldrallynews.com. All three of these sites provide information regarding the many races, drivers, and teams. Although they have similar information, the exact information that is provided, and the format in which they are delivered are different. This paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the websites, as well as the effectiveness of the websites in presenting their information in a sensible and enjoyable manner.
First, a little information about the WRC. Perhaps one of the most demanding racing sports, the WRC consists of cars racing over courses in some of the most breathtaking locations around the world. From Japan, to Greece to Finland, the races take place in over 15 countries. What sets the WRC apart is the physical location of the races. There are few paved roads, or nicely banked curves. Most of the driving is done “off-road.” This means that the conditions are extremely varied, from gravel to rocks, rain, snow, anything is fair game. Because of this, the teams must evaluate the course and choose the proper car parts to use. The courses are not a straight line either. They wind back and forth, up and down over different surfaces. To aid the driver, a co-driver rides shotgun, giving out commands that let the driver know what lies ahead. The cars are timed against each other, but not run along side each other. Many of the courses are only wide enough for a single car to pass through at a time. Thus, the cars are sent out in intervals, and the resulting times measured against each other after completion. With this background on the WRC, let’s examine the different web sites that provide information about this sport to its fans.
World Rallying (www.worldrally.net), is a second rate website at best. When the page is first loaded up, there is a blinking add at the top of the screen which greatly detracts from the rest of the site.
People who have participated in racing for the past century, have never been universally accepted as athletes. The drivers, especially those in the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) prove this misconception as incorrect with their intense training and stellar performances. Drivers on social media, assert that they are athletes, contradicting other sports stars who insist that they are not. The drivers in NASCAR and all forms of racing deserve to be given the respect of their fellow athletes in other sports. NASCAR drivers are seasoned athletes because of their training and tough race conditions that they encounter every week on the track.
...d he pressed himself against the wall. ‘Yes, ma'am.’ ‘Well, you keep your place then, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ain't even funny,’” (Steinbeck 80-81). This can be seen as suppression because Curley’s wife is threatening Crooks because he is an African-American. This can be seen as human nature because for hundreds of years in the past African-Americans have always been beneath white people. Therefore this example of suppression can be thought of as human nature because of how it shows segregation between whites and African-Americans. That is how the character Crooks is suppressed and how him being suppressed shows that it is human nature for the strong to suppress the weak. As mentioned before Lennie and Crooks are not the only weak characters in the story.
Days of Thunder, a 1990 box office classic, displays false information when it comes to the truth behind NASCAR. NASCAR is a professional based company and is headed by only the best. Its new penalty and regulation system and professionalism on and off the racetrack show the truth behind the character of NASCAR. The film Days of Thunder shows a false depiction of the company of NASCAR and prove to show that sometimes even Hollywood, can “get it wrong”.
Questions about human body are always fascinating me and I am constantly reading more from the subject. I am keen in wanting to develop my knowledge in physiology and nutrition and I believe that studying sports science would give me a good start towards my future career in sports therapy. My future goal is to be part of the future where health care is about prevention, not only healing.
Driving. This is where horses, or teams of horses, compete while pulling a carriage. Driving events include dressage, which showcases the horses' training while executing a pattern; cross country, where the horses pull the carriage over simulated roadways, through water obstacles, and so forth; and obstacle course, where the aim is to maneuver around cones without knocking down balls set on top, while completing the course as quickly as possible. There are also competitions for carriage and team

During this class I discovered that this field did not reach my expectations. Kinesiology and Health Promotion is a major for students that want to become gym or health teachers rather than becoming an Athletic Trainer. Once I discovered this I started researching and found out if I want to become an Athletic Trainer I would have to enter the College of Human Health Sciences. Then I started using secondary research to answer my research question,"What kind of jobs are available with a major in Sports Medicine right out of school?" I was able to discover that there are many job opportunities that I am able to go into, “Athletic trainers work in a variety of different professional settings, including: Hospital emergency departments, Intercollegiate athletics, Performing Arts, Physician offices, Professional sports, Sports medicine clinics. This fast-paced, challenging profession provides an opportunity for people entering the profession to engage in optimal patient care while working in a dynamic medical environment”. From this research it made me start thinking if I did decide to enter this field what type of environment would I want to work in since there are so many opportunities to choose
I have had to give up two things I loved dearly because I am not physically able to do it anymore. So, I know what it’s like, I know what an athlete is going thru when they have to give themselves a break or just completely quit. I’m not going to lie it sucks, it sucks bad, it honestly hurts to just sit and watch everyone else do something that you used to could do but can’t anymore. It would give me such a satisfaction to know that if I became a Sports Medicine Physician that I would be able to help or even heal patients that are in the same situation as me. I think I would love my job just because I would be able to keep a fellow athlete in their game. That’s the real reason I have been looking into this occupation. The field also pays very well also which means good money and I like money. If I make good money then I’ll also be able to have my dream house with a lot of land for my kids to be able to play on just like I did when I was growing up. This job also has flexible hours, with flexible hours I will be able to attend more of my kids events and activities without missing to much work. It just seems like it’s a job that I will be able to enjoy for the rest of my

...both worlds for its purpose, the dragster. The Dragster has extremely wide rear tires for acceleration and to keep it going straight. The dragster has extremely thin tires in the front to reduce rolling resistance and because handling is not a concern the car goes in a straight line it does not need to turn.
The availability of saltwater fish products in the market was depend on the coastal fishing vessels operation. One species that is widely consumed around the globe is Tuna (Thunnus sp.). Tuna is widely available both in Pasific and Atlantic ocean. Recent fisheries study indicated that fishing method can impact the freshness of cod flesh (3). Those fishing methods including haul size, haul duration, and direct gutting before storage period. Olsen et al. (2013) also concluded that the fishing method will affect the muscle pH, blood pH, glucose and lactase concentration during rigor period (3). It is likely those factors also responsible for the number of microflora in saltwater fish flesh.
Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
Although this article appeals to common sense the most, Paul-Mark’s claims are obvious with very good example to back those claims up. Dance is my passion and has been since I began training at the age of six. My lifelong goal has always been to fuse my knowledge of the world of dance with the world of medicine. The demands of ballet that come with training and performing at a pre-professional level are quite taxing on the body, and I have suffered several debilitating injuries throughout my dance career. These experiences have sparked my passion for rehabilitation and sports medicine. I am currently intending to double major in Dance and Psychology with a minor in Diversity on a pre-medicine track so that I may be able to one day fulfill my dream, and assist dancers with their injuries and pain management. In the winter quarter of 2017, I took an honors Natural World course
As a child, the idea of higher education was simply a figment of my imagination. People I crossed paths with didn’t anticipate academic success for me because of my upbringing. I come from a split family home in Compton, California. Despite the adverse connotation this city holds, I learned to overcome adversity and treat obstacles as stepping stones, leading me to a greater purpose. I remember that even at a young age my potential was overlooked and expectations were set quite low. I allowed the negative opinions of others define me. I was told once by a teacher in secondary school that I would amount to nothing, which resonated with me. In my youth, I found encouragement through interaction with different professionals I personally identified with. I endeavor to be the inspiration these professionals were for me, to other children. The negative feelings people had about my abilities continues to drive my advancement of my education and academic success.
