There are many people in the world that suffer from all different kinds of mental disorders. Most mental disorders can be treated from using therapy and medication for most cases. A mental disorder can be caused from many different things including, social hang outs, repeated actions, and most of the time genetics. Genetics is the number one reason for mental disorders. According to the sensory processing disorder foundation, Sensory processing disorder is a condition in which the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information that comes in through the senses (Tammy R. Cook). There are two kinds of sensory processing disorders. There is a hypo and a hyper type. When someone has a hypo sensory processing disorder that means that they are less responsive to things that would smell bad to the average human (Tammy R. Cook). When someone has a hyper sensory processing disorder that means that they are more responsive to things that would smell bad, and he or she might not be able to withstand being in that area for a certain amount of time (Tammy R. Cook). Another example would be a little child not being able to be around loud noises like a leaf blower or other loud machines. The treatment for sensory processing disorder is medication and some type of therapy.
