Wow. How is it possible that I am here, right now, at this very moment? I swear this is Heaven. How could it not be? The magnificent, emerging sunrise bursting with the different hues shined through my tent. Why can't I just stay here forever? I woke up to the gentle, yet chilly breeze coming off of the lake. My mom and I had traveled to Isle Royale all the way from Colorado, so we were pretty used to the morning frost on this cool April day in the northeast state of Michigan. We had gotten to Isle Royale national park yesterday and had set up camp right off the shores of Lake Superior. There were too many exciting things to do at the park. We had so many options. My mom would love to go kayaking and hiking, and I want to go scuba diving and fishing. That's the best part about Isle Royale; you can do all of those activities! You just have to do them all under the time you have from when you wake up to the hot sun shining in your face, to the time when you fall asleep under the millions of stars singing you lullaby. I couldn't wait to start exploring and finding out all of the fascinating things about the park.

My mom and I wanted to go fishing first, but unfortunately, we didn't have a permit that allowed us to. So, in the end, we decided that we would start off the day by going kayaking. I couldn't wait to get onto the fresh, clear water of Lake Superior and see the sun shine over the trees in the park. Thankfully, we brought many jackets and layered them on before getting into the boats. By the time we got out onto the water, I couldn't see my own breath anymore, and the sun had warmed up our freezing hands. I was surprised that we could even paddle with our practicality numb
