A Man with Passion
Freedom remains the sole basis for American society as we know it. “All men are created equal, they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; among this is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” is a quote from the Declaration of Independence. This statement has been the basis of human rights and the overall justice of American democracy. However, looking back at American history, not everyone was able to attain freedom without sacrifices. Some time in American history, African-American was treated unfairly and even to these days, some still suffer from racism.
In spite of this issue that has roam throughout America, there are some ordinary people who stand up to gain what the land of America has promise to its people. Martin Luther King Jr. is the guiding light to stop racism. He was a man who was inspired by his dream to fight for his American dream. In his short life, Martin Luther King Jr. served as an instrument in helping us realize the true meaning of being an American and how to achieve the American dream that each one of us wants to attain.
When people hear the name Martin Luther King Jr. they might think of a man who is a hero and a man who is so passionate about his dream. The world saw him as a civil right leader, an activist, a spokesman, and the conscience of nation. With a profound and thoughtful insight, he pointed out the problem that our nation and the world have toward segregation. His contribution to history made him a unique individual. Prejudice and racism have always and will always exist among people. The prejudice this nation faces now and has faced for years is racial oppression and segregation. Martin Luther King had a dream. He didn’t want people to be” judged by the color of their skin, but the content of their character”. He was determined that his dream would become a reality, and in most ways it did. The rights of the people are now equal. Any person, regardless of his race can do anything. MLK played a major part in today’s problem, and will have an impact on what is to come.
Martin Luther King Jr. is a man who changed our country. His numerous accomplishments have changed our society for the better. He will always be one of the greatest leaders of all time. He is an inspiration to many people, and a hero to all for believing in a world of freedom and equality.
It is no secret that Martin Luther King Jr. did great things. We have learned in school that he was a leader in the movement to desegregate the South. He has served as a role model for people across the globe. But even though Martin did change the world for the better, it was not without hardships. We gathered new information on Dr. King in the essay, “Heeding the Call” by Diana Childress. From his childhood to his last days, Martin faced massive opposition. Still, all of these challenges brought Martin the wisdom and idealism he used throughout his life.
Martin Luther King, Jr., born on January 15, 1929, was well known for his nonviolent movement to bring justice and to an end to the segregation of the people in the United States back in the 1950s. With King being the leader of a peaceful protest, it failed to bring equally to the colored people. Martin Luther King, Jr. was labeled as an “outsider” who was “hatred and violence” and that his actions were “unwise and untimely” from the Public Statement by Eight Alabama Clergymen (clergymen). In response, on the day of April 16, 1963, he wrote the Letter from Birmingham Jail to declare and defense his movement was not “unwise and untimely” at all. Everyone that has been through the American school system within the past 20 years knows exactly who Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is, and exactly what he did to help shape the United States to what it is today. In the beginning of the book, Martin Luther King Jr. Apostle of Militant Nonviolence, by James A. Colaiaco, he states that “this book is not a biography of King, [but] a study of King’s contribution to the black freedom struggle through an analysis and assessment of his nonviolent protest campaigns” (2). Colaiaco discusses the successful protests, rallies, and marches that King put together. . Many students generally only learn of Dr. King’s success, and rarely ever of his failures, but Colaiaco shows of the failures of Dr. King once he started moving farther North.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the greatest civil rights leaders to ever live. Through his empowering speeches, he made a huge impact on the world for the equality of all races. Throughout King’s life, he showed everyone how he believed equality should be acquired. With his peaceful protests and amazing speeches, he influenced people both during his time and after he passed. Many believe that King’s work in the Civil Rights Movement was the final push that America needed to finally respect people no matter their skin color.

In his short life, Martin Luther King was instrumental in helping us realize and rectify those unspeakable flaws which were tarnishing the name of America. The events which took place in and around his life were earth shattering, for they represented an America which was hostile and quite different from America as we see it today.

Martin Luther King is widely known as one of the greatest speakers to ever approach our nation. The impact he made on America was so much more than effective; it was incredible. The speech Martin Luther King gave took place 48 years ago, and even today people remember and quote the words he spoke. Being a man of Christ, he allowed the Lord to use him in furthering the kingdom of God. He is a man that has gone into history, and every child who goes through school is made known of works. Martin Luther King was an inspirational figure in his time because he helped begin the civil rights movement through his courage and bravery. Martin was an African American born in a time where race was the major factor for weather you were treated with respect or treated very poorly and treated as if you were slaves His story begins when he was an executive member in the NAACP but his fight for equality in the American South happened out of sheer luck. Martin was picked to host a meeting to support an African American woman named Rosa Parks, she had been arrested for refusing to give up her seat for a white person on a bus. Martin Luther King Jr. is considered the formative figure in the modern fight for the civil rights movement and fought for racial equality with something much stronger than tolerance. He fought for the equal rights for all people of every background. Being a leader of racial equality and spoke up for the wrong doing of society, but also the peoples' actions towards making America a better place and equal opportunity. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who believed in fighting for the rights of African Americans in the United States. He made many sacrifices for the people he was fighting for and never stopped until he was shot after a protest. MLK changed many people’s lives by standing up in front of thousands of people to share his “Dream” for America. No one can change the impression he made on not just the African Americans, but as well as the whites. He will forever be remembered for the changes he fought for when he never got the chance to actually see the change happen.

Two men with a wish of Civil Rights in the 1960’s had very different views but were able to admire each other at a distance. Without one or the other who knows what America would be like today. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up in the middle class, his family wasn’t rich, but they got by. With strong ties to the Christian community, King learned of the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent movement in India and aspired to be a pastor like his father. Since his childhood, he’d wanted to make a peaceful change.
Americans needed Martin Luther King Jr., but above all, America needed him. With his constant pursuit for equality, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. helped bridge the gap between African Americans and whites. His nonviolent methods of protest helped create an awareness of the inequalities that African Americans had to endure. King helped America realize that it needed to change in order to truly prosper. Martin Luther King had the best philosophy for riding America of segregation, he used nonviolent methods to get Americans to realize that segregation needed to be stopped and he united both African Americans and whites together to fight for equality and a better nation.
