If I were a lone survivor of a helicopter crash, I would first start off with a plan. A way to help myself survive would be not to panic, observe my surroundings and get familiar with the area. The more I were to panic then the less focused I would be and end up making the situation worse. I would then scavenge the crash and check for survivors or some supplies that could be left and useful to my survival. I could also take scraps from the crash to create a tent or camp of some sort for shelter, something that will hold and something I could sleep and rest in. Some clothes, cloths, a first aid kit, rope, and even maybe flare guns could possibly be found in the crash. Also, to get a little more familiar with the area I would venture out and maybe try to find a source of water such as a river, pond, or a lake. From what I have …show more content…
If I also were to be able to find a source of water, fish could be found in the water. Anything could be used as food at this point. I can also filter the water with something that its contained in and with a piece of a shirt of something. I would take the container and collect the water then put some fabric from a shirt or cloth then let it soak in the water. Then strain the water in another container to get cleaner water than from what it was before. I may be able to live off just water but some protein can always fit in a situation such as this. So, for meat I could create traps with my resources that I could find such as sticks, branches from trees, rope if found, and anything from else that can be found in the crash. Small animals are more likely to get caught in the trap and larger animals like deer would be harder for me to catch. To cook the meat, I could create a fire pit and make a fire using two or more sticks. I could also use a piece of glass from the helicopter and a little drop of water to magnify the beam of light and burn a leaf to start the

This shows that before helicopter rescues weren’t that common, but, now they're 4-5 of them in the sky daily. This has become a major issue because, the weather near the mountains is very unpredictable and it may cause a pilot to lose control. Plus, because there are so many helicopters rescuing climbers everyday, there may not be an left for a real emergency, like an
Since fresh pure sea water is not readily accessible, the easiest water source for the majority of hobbyists is the faucet. However, the tap water that comes from the local water treatment plants may be safe for human consumption but is most likely toxic to marine life. Water treatment plants remove most of the harmful chemicals, but the water delivered is anything but pure. Often this tap water contains high levels of phosphates and nitrates that can be harmful to aquarium inhabitants. Also, copper may leach from pipes, and it is deadly to marine invertebrates (Goldstein 8). This leaves very few options for water to the hobbyist. One of the last, and probably the best option for obtaining a pure water source is by using reverse osmosis water.

“The bigger the real-life problems, the greater the tendency […] to retreat into a reassuring fantasy-land” (Naylor). When the difficulties of life are unbearable, people often escape through various forms, such as an imaginary world where such problems do not exist. This is a form of escape and a way of ensuring that the difficulties at hand do not overpower their lives. This idea is explored through various characters in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. The district in which these characters are imprisoned, Gilead, is controlled by a radical Puritan government. There exists a regulation for every aspect of the characters’ lives: from religion to sexuality, from language to occupation, from meals to marriages. With such absolute laws, one would imagine that suicide is the only escape; however, numerous characters within the novel learn to escape in a manner which does not cause them harm. In Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, government extremists cleverly employ various forms of control to manipulate the characters into feeling powerless and isolated; ultimately, this forces them to depend on temporary escapes to survive in Gilead.
