Before you can enter the field of becoming a homicide detective you must first become a police officer and serve on the force for a minimum of 3 years. You must be 21 and be able to pass a drug and background test and be in good physical health. You will then go through all the normal physical training in the academy and you must have your high school diploma to enter that. It is also very important that you have good communication skills and a good attitude, and you can handle your anger. Once you have became and served as an officer you will need to make sure to be the best that you can be and be good with details and things along that line, you then can have the chance to be promoted in most departments to become a detective.
