A Good Man Is Hard to Find is a very good story and becomes intense and thrilling as it ends. Many would pose the question asking, “What happened?” as the story came to an end. My answer to them would be even the good must die. As odd as it may sound, yes—it is true, we will all die one day and no one-- good or bad—is exempt. I think the Misfit felt a little compassion as him and the grandmother talked but then remember that we have all sinned and come short of the glory. I feel that God was in play throughout the whole situation. My reason for saying this is because she was a courageous woman to come face-to-face with the Misfit and tell him that she cared for him and not judge him for his past encounters. He sat and listened to the grandmother’s plea bargain but went on without relevance and shot her 3 times in the chest. In this moment when she had a spare moment of silence and her mind went blank, I think that was God’s sign telling her that everything would be alright; right before she died. However, to the grandmother defense she did warn her son Bailey and the rest of the family about the Misfit being a loose in Florida which replays the message “Warning comes before destruction” as I kept going back to the point in the story when she tried to warn everybody, but everyone thought that she didn’t know any better. The Misfit’s final point when he says, “It’s no real pleasure in life”, shows how no matter how hard he fought to do what was right; he was still treated badly and wrongfully accused of crimes he didn’t commit. So, instead, he started committing the crimes because life as he knew it was compared to a worthless grain of salt
