Congenital craniofacial deformities
[Craniofacial deformities are very common disorders. The surgery for craniofacial defects is a broad spectrum of reconstructive procedures of the face and cranium. Craniofacial surgery is a sub-speciality of oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery]
In the early times, these kinds of abnormalities are considered to be untreatable. But, with the advancements in the studies and technologies, pioneers made it possible. This is the process of placing a post into your jawbone. Eventually, implants will allow you to replace teeth you have lost, thus restoring the function and appearance of your teeth.
The biggest shortcoming of these archaic appliances was the fact that they were subject to decay in the wearer’s mouth. Thus, installed false teeth would have to be replaced on a regular basis, resulting in a very costly procedure. However, this problem was rectified in 1774 by Duchateau and Dubois de Chemant with their invention of the first full set of dentures that would not rot. This was due to their porcelain composition – a material that was much more conducive to the everyday wear and tear of one’s teeth. Although an incredible improvement, even the porcelain version had its difficulties. Unable to produce anything less than a full set of teeth (the surrounding porcelain was required to keep each tooth in place), patients who were missing only one or two teeth were out of luck, unless they were willing to have the rest of their teeth removed as well. And yet, in 1808, Giuseppangelo Fonzi developed the first individual appliance – a single porcelain tooth that could be held in place by a pin drilled into the jawbone. Finally, in 1845, Claudius Ash, known as the official “inventor of dentures”, produced the porcelain version that is now used today. His contributions included a suction method of adhesion for a full set of dentures, so that no form of attachment could be seen by an onlooker.
Made of semi-translucent flexible nylon thermo-plastic with no metal wire or clasps, these dentures allow the color of the patient's gum to show through. Flexite partials are virtually indestructible, rarely require adjusting, and have clasps (made of the same material as...

Cosmetic surgery is performed by doctors from a variety of medical fields, including plastic surgeons. The scope of cosmetic surgery encompasses breast enhancement, facial contouring, facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and skin rejuvenation. On the other hand, plastic surgery deals with reconstructive surgery. In fact, in 1999, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons changed its name to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in order to communicate that “plastic and reconstructive surgery are one and the same”. Because it is reconstructive in nature, plastic surgery corrects dysfunctional areas of the body.
Comfort and ease of use Unlike metal braces, which must remain in place until your dentist says it's time to remove them, Invisalign braces can be removed when necessary, and you can do it on your own. You can remove them before eating and drinking, and put them back on afterwards. This allows you to continue consuming food and drinks you normally enjoy, and to brush and floss your teeth normally. The issue with wearing metal braces is that it is a major hindrance to eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Most wearers of metal braces complain experiencing difficulty eating hard foods and food that requires them to chew a lot.

Denture teeth can be made of acrylic poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or composite resins. PMMA is a polymer - a material made the from joining of methyl methacrylate monomers. Properties of PMMA include resistance to abrasion, chemical stability and a high boiling point. (Jun Shen et al. 2011). However, weak flexure and impact strength of PMMA are of concern as they account for denture failure. (Bolayir G, Boztug A and Soygun K. 2013). Composite denture teeth are made of a three distinct phases - filler, matrix and coupling agents. Out of the types of composite teeth available, nano-filled composite teeth are preferred. Composite teeth have a PMMA coating around the tooth and a high content of filler particles. This gives them strength, higher resistance to forces than acrylic teeth and provides compete polymerization due to the PMMA coating. (Anusavice, K. J., Phillips, R. W., Shen, C., & Rawls, H. R, 2012). If the interface between the PMMA denture base and PMMA or composite teeth was weak, the denture will not be able to sustain occlusal forces, making the base-teeth interface, an entity of significance.
This type is made of clear aligners which are virtually invisible when used. These aligners are the ones which work to push the teeth to their proper position through a gentle force. The invisalign braces are often recommended for mild and moderate teeth problems, but there are also some experts who employ it to treat even the most chronic conditions. For those who are considering the invisalign braces for mild and moderate teeth crooking or crowding, expect the braces cost to run in a range similar to that of the traditional braces. For the more severe conditions, the braces cost may involve 20 to 50 percent increase than that of the metal
In each case they started by extracting the remaining teeth in one jaw and examined clinically and radiographically to make sure root canal treatment can be made and that there is periodontal support available for the denture. After root canal treatment was made, they were sealed with amalgam and topical fluoride, then the application of gold copings. Finally the process of gingivectomy takes place. After all these steps the denture is ready for construction. After construction, relief of the fitting surface of the denture is made. The dentures were delivered to the patients and were ready for use.
Do you currently use flexible dentures? This variation of traditional dentures can be a great way to fix your missing teeth. However, the dentures can become damaged over time if you do not care for them properly. While they are quite durable, flexible dentures are still susceptible to cracking or fracturing. This is what you need to know about caring for flexible dentures to help them last a long time.
Cosmetic surgery is becoming a trend world-wide today because humans can never be fully satisfied in terms of looks; however, this type of surgery has many serious perils rather than some benefits that we already know.
This new root now works to anchor the prosthetic tooth above it. An implant can work as an anchor for a crown or dentures. A crown is a permanent prosthetic tooth, which you will not remove. Dentures are removable prosthetic teeth, and they require daily maintenance.
Cosmetic Surgery is a great discovery that has been around for many centuries. “The history of plastic surgery origins in the early 800 B.C. when surgeons in India restored noses to persons who had them taken off as a form of punishment.” (History of Cosmetic Surgery, 2008) Many people have used over the years cosmetic and reconstructive surgery to enhance their physical appearance weather it be for health problems associated with birth defect or problems that they have developed over the years or to even alter physical appearances for instance nose jobs and tummy tucks. There are numerous types of cosmetic surgery that can be done today in the United States, over the year’s surgeons techniques have improved dramatically. There are a number of pro’s and con’s that go along with cosmetic surgery, such as the amount of recovery time and the initial cost of surgery. Statistics also show that cosmetic surgery has grown so rapidly over the years it is phenomenal people who receive cosmetic surgery goes up by the millions every year. While there can be many related health risks due to cosmetic sugary, many times cosmetic surgery is necessary and its is made more affordable than thought to be.
First and foremost, cosmetic dentistry is a costly affair. Surgical treatment can cost up to $1000 or more per tooth. And in many cases, dental insurance companies may not provide coverage. For example, dental implants are not covered by insurance companies because they are considered luxury items. Similarly, your local government or health body may not provide any kind of subsidy. Another important factor that needs to be considered is proper oral hygiene. Improper oral hygiene or habits such as smoking can have a negative impact on dental implants. It is very essential to take proper care of the implant or else the implant may fail within a short span of time. Depending on the quality and durability of the materials used, you may have to undergo restorative procedures again in 10 or 15 years after the initial surgery. Even though cosmetic dentistry is a costly procedure, there are several ways to save money. One of the best ways is to get the procedure done in countries such as China or India. In many countries, the costs of surgery are substantially lower and the quality is almost the same as in the developed countries. Dental tourism is a good option for you if you are willing to explore a
