It was early evening on December 16, 1985. The sidewalks were jammed with people who had just flooded out of the many office buildings around East 46th Street between Second and Third Avenue. Some rushed home from work, eager to get out of the wintry gloom; others were lured by the strings of brightly colored lights into the stores for some Christmas shopping.
There in the midst of the mid-town bustle on 46th was an elegant steakhouse called Sparks whose clientele were businessmen and diplomats from the United Nations buildings a few blocks away. In the vicinity of the restaurant, several men dressed alike in fu cossack hats and trench coats loitered on both sides of the street Several other men also positioned themselves around the restaurant carefully, so they would not be noticed in the throngs of rush-ho pedestrians.
This book was about a street gang called the Mighty Vice Lords. They were the second largest gang in Chicago with about 30,000 members. The Vice Lords started in the Illinois Training center (Juvenile Correctional Facility) for boys in St. Charles Illinois during 1958 and was led by Edward “Pepalo” Perry and Alfonso Alfred. This group was known to be brutal and violent. It discussed how a violent gang can become a community organization and change the way things were done for the betterment of the community. This information is important because it showed that gangs can become a positive force.
Dean O’Banion was amongst those who were getting wealthy by bootlegging alcohol. He was the leader of the North Side Gang, a group of mostly Irish gangsters, the gang Bugs Moran would be in control of later in his life. However, O’Banion wasn’t alone in Chicago. Johnny Torrio, and his right side man Al ‘Scarface’ Capone, had moved to the South Side of Chicago. They would be Bugs Moran’s bi...
Gotti used his newfound status as boss to move the Gambino family headquarters to Manhattan at the Ravenite social club. The move made him a target for further surveillance from law enforcement, and by 1989 no less than nine men were informing on him. Conversations recorded by bugs were enough to indict him on RICO charges once again; however, the final decision to prosecute came when Sammy Gravanno, Gotti’s consigliore, struck a deal and agreed to testify against him. With Gravanno’s testimony and the taped evidence, the prosecution’s case was irrefutable. After deliberating for only 14 hours, the jury found Gotti guilty on all counts (Mustain & Capeci, 1988). Assistant director of the FBI’s New York branch, James M. Fox, is documented in saying, “The don is covered with Velcro and every charge stuck” (FBI, 2007).

Tragedy plays an important role in narratives. This role is especially apparent in many short danger narratives. “The Boogeyman” by Stephen King, follows a man as he tries to deal with the tragic and mysterious deaths of his children. “Management of Grief” by Bharati Mukherjee follows a woman as she tries to manage the loss of her sons and tries to help others do the same. “In the Cemetery Where Al Jolson is Buried” by Amy Hempel, follows a woman spending time with her dying friend and attempting to deal with the situation. In these stories, among many others of this genre, tragedy plays a critical role in defining the story. Tragedy has become a popular device in short stories and thus must be an advantageous tool for authors. In his essay, “Interest and Truth” Gardner argues that for a narrative to work it cannot simply have meaning; it has to convey it in an interesting manner. Tragedy is an effective means of meeting both of these requirements. Tragedy satisfies the reader immediate interest by drawing him or her into the narrative while also demonstrating the importance of the author’s argument to the reader.
Even though there were many factors contributing to the Challenger disaster, the most important issue was the lack of an effective risk management plan. The factors leading to the Challenger disaster are:
The three hit men knew that they could not get into the fortress where Anastasia lived, they knew they needed to get him somewhere he felt comfortable. When he ventured into the city, he always stopped at his favorite barbershop in the Hotel Park Sheraton at Seventh Avenue and Fifty-Fifth Street for a shave and a trim. On October 25, 1957 at 10:15am the Gallo brothers entered the shop and, as the barber was covering Anastasia’s face with a towel and lowering his chair, shot five shots at Anastasia’s head and back. Miraculously, Anastasia, with his last ounce of life, lunged at the killers, but only hit the mirror in front of him. When the news of Albert Anastasia’s death reached the four other bosses of New York, they knew that Vito Genovese would now be making a move to be in charge of the Mafia’s ruling body, the Commission. Carlo Gambino too knew this and was determined to make a power play of his own. To decide who would be the leader, Genovese decided to call a gathering that notably became the largest Cosa Nostra reunion in history. In attendance there was nearly one-hundred bosses, underbosses, caporegimes, and labor officials all called on upon by Genovese who hope to be voted in as “boss of bosses”. The meeting was to be held on the giant estate of Joseph Barbara, near the village of Apalachin on November 14, 1957. The higher-ups of La Cosa Nostra were to discuss who was to take over for Anastasia, how to put a stop to the violent changes of leadership that had been occurring, a discussion on membership into the Mafia and finally, revise the Cosa Nostra’s drug policy, due to the federal government passing “the Narcotics Control Act of 1956 which created the most punitive and repressive anti-narcotics legislation ever adop...

Castellano wants to do something about it because Gotti is causing attention to the family. He wants to whack Gotti and his crew. A good reason for doing so is because Angie is dealing drugs and Paul says a rule is a rule, “deal or die.” Gotti finds out about Castellano and his plan to whack him, so he arranges the murder of Castellano in front of Spark’s Steakhouse restaurant. In order to do so, Gotti has to have the full commissions permission. In the process, Dellacroce passes away which will make Gotti the boss. Gotti elects Sammy as the underboss. While catching all of the attention with the murder of Castellano and becoming the boss of the Gambino family, the FBI is devising a plan to take Gotti down by figuring out where he discusses business and bugging the
