After reading the novel, A Death in Belmont, by Sebastian Junger I can say that it was a very informative and interesting story. Junger describes the whole story behind the multiple rapes and murders in Boston throughout the 1960s commonly known as the "Boston Stranglings". The author just tells the facts of the story telling about the lives of multiple people involved in the novel. It starts with him saying how his mother had hired people to build onto their house. These workers were Floyd Wiggins, Russ Blomerth, and the strength behind the building, Albert DeSalvo. During the time they were working on the house, one of their neighbors, Bessie Goldberg, was found strangled by her husband, Israel Goldberg. A black man who was cleaning her house …show more content…
At the end of the novel it is concluded after the death of both Roy Smith and Albert DeSalvo and the police not knowing who actually killed the nice old lady in Belmont. A Death in Belmont was a very riveting novel because it showed me the psychology of a serial killer and someone who possibly spent the rest of their life in locked up even though they are innocent. Sebastian Junger's purpose for writing this novel was that he just wanted to tell the story of his nice old neighbor that was murdered and raped in his hometown. He tries to persuade you to think about if Roy Smith actually murdered Bessie Goldberg or if it was just the racism of the time that made him be convicted. I thought it was a very effective writing for conveying this thought because he gave so much information on the subject. Junger did repeat a lot of what he said at points but he always made sure the reader knew the whole of the situation. actually really enjoyed reading this novel even though I usually do not delve into those types of novels. I would recommend this for anyone who has not tried the non-fiction genre of novels yet. Junger expresses the topic like a story going from the murders, to Roy Smith's
Set in the fantastical town of St Olafred both in Liga’s Heaven and in the real world. The novel is narrated by many different people throughout. Starting with Liga and then changing to the dwarf, Davit, and her daughters. While almost everyone’s narration is first person, Liga’s is not. This style helps introduce characters to the books, as the first chapter is from her point of view. It also helps since a lot of action happens during Liga’s chapters which is easier to write in third person. Each character also has their own way of speaking too which really helps distinguish and help associate with the character when she switches point of
The house was built in 1917 by William Bowers Bourn, a San Francisco millionaire whose wealth came from gold mining . Construction of the large property took 2 years, while it took 12 years to build the formal gardens, which were completed in 1929. Its name was created by Bourn, using the first 2 letters from the key words of his credo: “Fight for a just cause; Love your fellow man; Live a good life.” After the deaths of Bourn and his wife in 1936, it was purchased by William Roth, another prominent San Franciscan, who pr...
Young adult fiction is a unique area in its own way, and one that incorporates forms of lives not common in society. The book, Maze Runner is a typical example of adult fiction in which the author presents scenarios involving various forms of life, which readers can learn from and apply to their own, as well. To begin with, by reading this book in class, students will not only learn about magic and terror, but also about sorrow, bravery, friendship as well as suffering in attempts to find redemption. Everything about this book is fictional but subsequent events from previous ones make things even more real. In the beginning, fiction is achieved when the main character, Thomas, wakes up in some metal box, but has no memory of the person he is, only remembering his name (Dashner 1).The place in which the boys live is covered in high wall and called the glade. Additionally, outside the maze are monsters called grievers, which can make a person undergo the process of ‘changing’ upon being stung. The fictitious nature of this book...

...ebrooks, Chris Richardson, Latonya Wilson, Aaron Wyche, Anthony Carter, Earl Terrell, Clifford Jones, Darren Glass, Charles Stephens, Aaron Jackson, Patrick Rogers, Lubie Geter, Terry Pue, Patrick Baltazar, Curtis Walker, Joseph Bell, Timothy Hill were all victims of this ruthless killing. Regardless of who was behind this killings, each one of them got their lives cut short due to someones cruelty. In conclusion, the Atlanta Missing and Murdered case, a major breakthrough to an investigation which had seen 29 African- American children and adults murdered in a series of killings came with the arrest of 23 year old Wayne B. Williams, who was convicted of the crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment. This was one of the darkest moments in the history of Atlanta, a period of darkness which will forever live in the minds of both the victims and the people of Georgia.

...at the story we follow is a retelling by one of the main characters. This was an interesting way to write the book; it created a foundation for the rest of the book that the reader could always be sure about, and added well to the effect of the story.
The book is about Valerie Leftman whose boyfriend was responsible for a mass shooting that took place in the commons of their high school, the story tells about her struggle to come to terms with what happens and the damage that has been done. Time manipulation is used by the author to give more insight into what took place in the commons on May 2nd which assists in developing the characters through their direct experience with the shooting. Primary documents that give the biographies about the dead and wounded are also used by the author, these gives more information about these people further developing their characters. Seeing how different characters react to conflict that is presented to them is another technique the author uses to develop

Rafael Whitney’s death, an unfortunate one at that, was likely a homicidal cause. The deceased’s specific cause of death was cardiac arrest. For this sudden cessation of function of the heart to occur naturally, a previous, often undiscovered, heart condition generally needs to have been present. Other ways for this medical emergency to occur must include some outside trigger, including an electrical shock, the use of illegal drugs, or an ill timed trauma to the chest. Besides evidence of sudden cardiac arrest, the victim’s heart displayed as generally healthy, showing no signs of previous heart conditions. There were no observed signs of electrical currents on the body and we were not informed of any illegal drugs being present in the bloodstream.
I enjoy R.L. Stine’s writing because he is very good at replacing words with something else that means the same exact thing. He also makes the story interesting by making a problem and
This is an odd little book, but a very important one nonetheless. The story it tells is something like an extended parablethe style is plain, the characters are nearly stick figures, the story itself is contrived. And yet ... and yet, the story is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking because the historical trend it describes is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking.
...it up to each reader to draw their own conclusions and search their own feelings. At the false climax, the reader was surprised to learn that the quite, well-liked, polite, little convent girl was colored. Now the reader had to evaluate how the forces within their society might have driven such an innocent to commit suicide.
Stoyer starts his account by writing about how slave children were impacted by slave society through the example of a fellow negro boy who worked in the same plantation as him. He writes how the young boy would take other young slave children and force them to srtip off their clothes so he could whip them. Through his account he tries to show the effect slave society had on children to the point that even some young children growing up under slavery would imitate the
