The Struggle Is Real
Maya Angelou

This research is that of the life struggle of Maya Angelou. Through many poems she set the tone where through the readers eye her life struggle can be seen. She has three defined poems in particular, of similar theme, that deal directly with specific elements of her past. The poems to be interpreted are “A Plagued Journey”, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" and “The Detached”. Maya work strikes home with many because of reading her biography and knowing why her poetry is so dark and vivid. The viewpoint, that we will interpret, is that of past and current struggle of life. This perspective allows the reader a closer look at the text and shows how it unifies each piece. The complexities of the work will also be noticed while we closely translate the meaning and tie the three in together with the theme “The Struggle is Real”. A deep, dark seeded past is what inspires Ms. Angelou in her work and many readers may find it very spiritual and a means of mending old scars from her past. In order to develop an interpretation of the poems of literature, references to specific events that have happened in her past will be made. This explanation aims to show the reader how a courageous individual can harness terrifying elements from their past and, through poetic expression, find a means of healing. Maya Angelou a woman of color has made a tremendous contribution to society and deserves much respect for showing readers that through her darkness, she found light. Her words are very open and vivid in their delivery, encompassing a horrid past with elements of both rape and murder.

Maya Angelou suffered much in her life, but came through it triumphant and much stronger as a person. She is brave in sharing her fears and tragedies. This struggle of Life for Angelou challenges not only political views but our minds and inner beings. She is a great Lengend of an Overcomer. She survived life at its lowest with having strength and inner will to survive and succeed.
Still I rise gives off a voice of hope. It is also befitting to use whiling concluding this passage. Even through all of the things that Maya Angelou has been through, and no matter how many times she has been hurt, she will not let it stop her. She will continue to stand strong and rise above difficulty, discouragement, and of course her struggle. Her work will continue to bring hope and encouragement for generations to come.
