A Christmas Carol Play Analysis

First of all. I love Christmas. There is nothing I don’t love about Christmas to be honest. So that is why I choose to see A Christmas Carol. Plus my mom said I had to spend more time with the family so I got to get my homework done while pleasing my mother. Win Win. Alright so this play was pretty awesome. I liked it a lot. Which is saying something because I tend to get antsy at anything that keeps me sitting for too long. This play was very fun to watch. I enjoyed it more than the movie, and believe me when I say I love that movie. It starts with Scrooge working late on Christmas Eve in his office and Fred wants him to come to Christmas dinner. Scrooge really doesn’t want to go. At closing time, Scrooge gives Bob Christmas off even though

he doesn’t want to. He goes home, and is reminded of Marly who died on christmas eve a long time ago. Scrooge sees Marly’s face on the door. A hearse follows him upstairs. Then his ghost enters, with chains all over. He tells Scrooge that people are everywhere, dead and alive. He is in chains from ignoring his responsibilities while alive. He tells Scrooge that he is in a bigger hole than he is and offers a way out of his fate. The ghost of Christmas past comes. The spirit takes Scrooge to the boarding school thing where he grew up, where they see Scrooge’s childhood friends going home to celebrate Christmas, leaving Scrooge.s. The spirit then takes Scrooge to a better Christmas, when he gets to go home with family. Then they go to the Christmas when his fiancé, Belle, left him because of his busy schedule. Scrooge wants to go home. They then see Belle and new husband talking about Scrooge, and how he’s still always working. Then the Ghost of Christmas Present, takes Scrooge on a tour of poor neighborhoods, still celebrating Christmas. Scrooge and the spirit go to Bob’s family’s house, they’re having a nice dinner. Scrooge falls in love with Tiny Tim, who is crippled and will soon die. Scrooge hears Bob toast in Scrooge’s name. Then they go to Fred’s house, and they’re talking about Scrooge not being there. Fred says he hopes his invitations will stop Scrooge’s bitterness. Scrooge then is with Ghost of Christmas future. They watch people discussing a man’s death and nobody is upset about the then travel neighborhood where people are selling stolen stuff from the dead man’s house. The spirit takes him to overhear a family being kind of happy he is dead. Eventually, they go to Bob’s home and see the family upset about the death of Tiny Tim. He wants to know more about the dead guy, they go back to the gravesite and it’s his own grave. Scrooge is ready to change. and he does. My favorite character is of course Tiny Tim. He’s just precious and the most adorable boy played him. I seriously want to just take him home. I really do love Tiny Tim, I mean if Scrooge can love him, anyone can. My least favorite character was probably Belle. Just because I feel like she turned Scrooge bitter. My favorite actor was Scrooge. He was so funny and played the character so well I just loved it. My least favorite actor was Ghost of Christmas present. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t like him all that much. I loved the play it’s definitely a must see.
