I don’t really have a dream job in the sports industry because I’m a Criminal Justice Major, but if I were to chooses one it would be a Sports Security Director. This job interests me because I love sports in general and really enjoy attending sporting events for many reasons. As a fan there is no better feeling knowing that you’re protected and safe while watching something you love. I would want to be the person that ensures the safety of others, so they can enjoy the sporting event. As a security director there are many roles and responsibilities, but the most important responsibility I would have is ensuring the safety of the staff and fans. There would be a specific schedule that I would have to create and specific roles that would be needed to be assigned to each employee of mine. This job also consists of emergency response plans just in case a fan would get hurt, and in some cases severely enough to call emergency services outside of the event. I would have to create several safety plans that would need to be implemented that way my employees would be trained and ready for any scenario that would be any harm to the fans. I would have to make sure my employees are …show more content…
I don’t know quite what exactly I want to do to do that, whether it’s becoming a police officer or going directly into the private sector of security. After having a good amount of experience with my bachelor’s degree and being settled down I would hardly consider getting my masters to specifically go into sports management. This would hopefully significantly set me apart with having an advanced degree and I would be able to take advantage when seeking employment as a security director. I would then take that and start searching for sports security director positions; by that point in time I would hope to have enough work experience and be able to work for one of my favorite sports
The few cons of a career as an athletic director are that you may have an erratic work schedule, may have heavy workloads at the beginning of sports seasons, and you have to be skilled in a variety of areas such as finances, management, and coaching. Why I am Suited for this Career? I have a sports background because of my sports participation in golf, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. I took a sports management class my senior year in high school.
College athletes have a goal that they pursue. The jump to the professional sports leagues is an accomplishment that most college athletes wanted to achieve. But most college athletes go to college and forego completing their senior year and don’t get a degree. In basketball most athletes are one and done. This means they go to college for only one year then enter the NBA draft. For the NFL players have to be out of high school for three years and necessarily don’t have to go to college.
If you get big enough in athletic training, then maybe you will work with a famous sports player. My dream is to work for an amazing sports team. The team that I want to work for being the, New England Patriots. The athletic trainers are just as important as the players because they have to keep the players in shape. The New England Patriots are one of the best NFL teams to ever play.
Being a Basketball Coach. The reason why i am studying this career is because i want to know what it is like to be a High School, or a College Coach, and a National League Associations (NBA) and just to see how it is to be a coach . My history of this career is that i have been to so many job shadows that are coaches and some coaches are nice too there players and some are very mean. There are a lot of basketball coaches out there and the employment of this job is to make sure your other coaches stay on track with the players to because some of the basketball players just want to go out and party after a game which that is not good for your body to have alcohol or anything else in your body. You can find these jobs everywhere
Working at a school would not have been a top choice but as an athletic director it seems fun and enjoyable. An athletic director oversees all school sports and makes sure that everyone follows the rules and does not disobey the coaches (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). They also have to attend all games and matches that are scheduled (Hinginbotham, Heather). As well as attending all the games they have to hire the officials that are needed for the games (Higinbotham, Heather). Athletic directors also might have to fire coaches and other athletic department employees if needed (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). They also have to set or approve job descriptions for each position (Bean-Mellinger, Barbara). Every athletic director job is different depending on the size of school; their daily routine might be different from others. In smaller schools the athletic director might have to teach classes as well as do their own job. But as for larger school they will only be an athletic director. In some jobs they are physical education teachers as well as an athletic director (Baccadutre).
Many people are more active today than they were many years ago. Injury prevention and diagnosis plays a big role in today’s society. Preventing an injury is important for many athletes all over the world, and for people that are physically active. Preventing injuries can benefit an athlete in the long run. Athletic trainers help athletes and physically active people stay healthy for what they do on a daily basis.
My senior project is about being a coach and how it can be difficult and not an easy task. I wanted to show others that being a coach is something that takes time and effort in order to accomplish it. Being a coach is not a fun job but it is a job that will help you in the future. Coaching is an experience that not a lot of people get to go through but those who do become not just better people but they become teachers to others in troubling times and in time of need. Coaching gives you and also shows you that being helpful and courteous to others actually helps you out as a person and it also helps out the players you’re coaching to be better people and to be kind and not take things in the wrong way and to show them a better way that will help them in their life.
With the 'unknown certainty' of terrorist actions and fan behavior, it is impossible to ensure a risk-free environment at America's sporting venues. Incidents will happen and emergencies will arise. It is a matter of how one prepares, responds, and recovers to mitigate the consequences of emergencies at a sporting venue. Sport venue managers need to be aware of risk assessment methodologies to detect threats, identify vulnerabilities, and reduce cons...
I want to pursue Sports Management because I want to have a career in the business of basketball and I believe NC State is the ideal university to prepare me for this. When I say business of basketball many people tend to look at me with a puzzled look. I am referring to working in the office of a professional sports organization or working inside a college basketball program.
My Career The career field I chose is to be a firefighter. The reason why I want to be a firefighter is because they help people and prevent fires from spreading. I’ve always wanted to help people everywhere, because I don’t like it whenever there is an accident and some people die and lose their loved ones, people talking crap about them and just talking and pointing the cameras in their face watching them cry. I want to help people and make a difference and help protect people’s lives, and be someone people recognize when I walk by them.
Speaking of training, there are classes that a high school student can take to prepare for a career in law enforcement. Psychology, sociology, foreign languages, and computer courses are recommended for those students who plan to take criminal justice as their higher education major. Participating in sports can improve your chances on becoming an officer of law because it improves strength and endurance. Other student activities can be helpful in this career because they help to improve leadership skills and other publications. Every law enforcement agency has different requirements for qualification; however, almost all of them require a college degree. You can either have a degree in police science, administration of justice, public administration, or criminal justice to qualify for employment. English, Sociology, Psychology, Personal Computer Operations, Survey of Criminal Justice, and Principles of Criminology are classes that need to be taken to complete a criminal justice major. Almost every college nationwide offers these classes. (“Police and Detectives”).
The healthcare field and all professions within is one of the fastest and most aggressively growing career path. Just as people will always need someone to fix anything they will also always need doctor medical staff. The doctors, nurses, and medical assistants are on the front lines interacting with and caring for and healing the patients that are in such dire need for their help but behind the scenes sitting at a desk shifting and sorting through mounds of paperwork or sitting through endless boring board meetings with suits who have no idea how patient care really works that’s where I want to be this is the nerd that I am. I will gladly take mounds and mounds of paperwork and
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their life. Most people try to pick the career with the best financial gain and something they would like to do for the rest of their life. Foremost it is wise to see what the job entails. Sport Management is perfect for those who enjoy helping and working with people, especially when dealing with sports. The next part of the decision-making process is looking through the various schooling and training required. Lastly, take into consideration the advantages and disadvantages. Usually with great salaries comes a big responsibility with high stress. “The sports industry in the U.S. is a $200-billion-dollar-plus powerhouse, with superstar athletes, lucrative endorsement deals, and all the free press an ego can handle” (Lawyue 1). The profession of a sport management professional has a very specific work description, requires specific schooling and training, and comes with a variety of benefits and disadvantages.
Selecting a career is the most important decision in a person’s life. The Health care industry has a good future in the United States of America. According to the American Department of Labor, the Medical assistant is one of the fastest growing health care professions. I have always been inclined towards health care and therefore I decided to be a medical assistant. To become a medical assistant one should possess different qualities. But the most important quality is to be a very responsible person.
My ideal career would allow me to do something that interests me. I enjoy working with words and with numbers. I've also had success in the areas of technology and customer service.
