Recommended: Child hunger in america

Tara grabbed a telephone cord and went up stairs to strike Devontae behind several times and although Gera was upset and hurt from her face being burnt with a fork, she was sad to hear her brother cry so loud because she knew he was hurting from his whooping and not only that but when they went over to their uncles house and his wife seen it she whooped him too. Lets just say he got double for his troubles. Hunger days for them began to be long and draining, a lot of times they would sleep so they wouldn’t have to feel the hunger pains. Every so often their mother would come with a couple bags of groceries that would always have the king vitamin and corn flakes cereal, farina, powder milk, can milk, a can of fruit cocktail and potted pork, two if they were lucky. To them it was a delicious meal but to their mom it was poor man’s food. …show more content…

As she was pressing her daughter’s hair she watched as the pot bubbled up with a funky smell. She couldn’t wait to let her daughter taste what it was, and swore that they were delicious! She grabbed a fork and wrestled with what looked liked rubber skin from a hippo, and pulled a piece of meat from out the middle of it and Gera liked to fell out. Gera told her mother never mind but her mother insisted. As she went toward the fork with her mouth open, eyes closed, and her nose plugged Gera spit it out before it could touch her tongue. Mother just laughed. Gera didn’t know if mother was so happy that she didn’t have to share or if she thought it was truly
