Introduction
Fashion during 2000-2010 was rapidly moving forward, its audience was growing like never before due to the technical advancements and a communication revolution. This report looks at the main influences on fashion including political changes, military action and society as a whole, this plus many more influenced the fashion industry and consumers buying habits making the decade the most advanced yet.
Methods

This report includes information and research from books, magazines, blogs and newspapers published before 2010. Valerie Mendes & Amy de la Hayes book on “Fashion since 1900” was found most useful as there was a lot of information and facts about the decade that backed up the findings in this report.

The media heavily televised all aspects of the war influencing many designers, particularly uniforms of the world’s armies. Particularly this trend boomed later in the decade from 2009-2010 with designers such as D&G featuring designs on their runways (fall menswear collection 2009 source 3). Included where military styled jackets, combat pants and kaki colours. The growth of the internet allowed world consumers instant access to the latest fashion catwalks and the option to purchase items 24/7. With Advances in picture quality consumers could examine clothing in more detail than previously allowed. Internet shopping was highly accessible, time saving, and allowed people to try on at home making the online retail market boom. Advances in smart phones particularly Apple (IPod 2001 & iPhone 2007) influenced consumers buying habits with the introduction of shopping apps allowing to search the internet, blogs, and fashion houses with ease. This increased consumer participation within fashion, with trends on celebrities and those on the streets being scrutinised and published online. Fashion bloggers began to raise their voices a few became popular during the decade including style bubble (source 7) and face hunter.
