As I was walking the classroom for father and son day. Ms. Buta turned on the T.V. for entertainment for the students. I could see a big ruckus of people on the news. Screaming with terror. Then the news lady had said something about an earthquake. Next, I knew i was in this place i've been before. I woke up in a Fire Department ¨106¨, that i had worked for about a couple years ago. But the same news station was on. The day was 1/12/50. I was feeling a bit faintful, because I was working the night shift the day before. But, suddenly a rumble had just filled up the whole building. Piles of stones are flying down from the surface of the roof. ¨GET DOWN” Captain Morgan had said with terrified voice. I could hear other co workers screaming …show more content…
We had first went to Seattle to try and dig up the rubble and help the innocent people. But, other crews would switch off with us. Crew 113 went into the burning buildings to try and help many others while other crews went on a search. I thought it was slightly a bad idea. But, I mean if if it can help save the innocent people from dieing I dont have problem with it. WHen we rolled out there were burning buildings, piles of rubble from buildings crashing down, and a whole lot of different sounds. Not good joyful sounds….. but just a few sounds that would haunt you for the rest of your …show more content…
After about an hour or two, many we’re exhausted. But, I wasn't. I knew if I could help and save others from this incident it would help me out ALOT! I have cleared out the whole block. House through house. But we had one more house to clear. But you could hear a kid screaming with a terrified voice. We walked upstairs hopefully knowing he would be in there. Captain and I walked in on the kid sitting there screaming for help. His name was Alex Martinez. He had been alone. We eventually took him down to truck and gave him oxygen to relax. His dad and mom came with biggest smile and hugged him with joy. BUt enough said. We moved on into the city and then there came a burning building with the address of 1109 s. clement ave. MY FAMILY. I screamed. I quickly ran to the house and entered. I could hear nothing. Captain and I quickly ran upstairs to see me wife laying on the floor. “Juliet” I screamed with
The drought was near historic high levels for the time of year. In the moments before the entrapment on of the squads and the crew boss trainee were working with a fire engine and its three person crew when a spot fire erupted right next to the road. The seven Northwest Regular Crew number six and a engine crew got in there vehicles and drove south past the fire along the edge of the road. While driving they radioed the other 14 crewmembers who were working north further up the river about the dangerous situation. The 14 crewmembers and the incident commander and two Northwest Regular number six squad members were suppressing spot fires between the river and the road ¼ mile north of the first squad when they were informed of the situation that was threatening there es...
sat down to rest and then heard sirens in the distance. We saw a blue and white
The attacks that occurred on 9/11 took place on September 11th, 2001. In this devastating event, four different attacks had taken place. Each of the attacks were carried out by terrorists. The group responsible for the attack was Al-Qaeda, a militant Islamist organization that is known to be global in present day. The group itself has a network consisting of a Sunni Muslim movement that aims to make global Jihad happen. Furthermore, a stateless, multinational army that is ready to move at any given time. This terrorist group focuses on attacking non-Sunni Muslims, those who are not Muslim, and individuals who the group deems to be kafir. Ever since the late 1980s, Al-Qaeda has been wreaking havoc all around the world. The leader of the group once being Osama bin Laden. Three planes were bound for New York City while another plane headed towards Washington, D.C. which was supposed to take out the U.S. Capitol. Two of the airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center. One plane hitting the North Tower and the other hitting the South Tower. The third plane had crashed into the Pentagon taking out the western side of the building. The last and final plane was focused solely on taking out the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. but failed due to passengers of the plane coming hijacking it from the hijackers. The passengers attempted to take out the hijackers but sadly failed, crashing it into a field in Pennsylvania. Throughout the content of this paper, we will be focusing on the role of media when it comes to 9/11; more specifically: how the media's coverage of 9/11 manipulated our feelings towards 9/11, how it affected Islamophobia in America, and the lasting effects of 9/11.
Imagine you are asleep and it is a normal night just like any other, when all of a sudden you smell smoke from your bedroom. Immediately, you open your door and you cannot see anything due to the heavy layer of smoke. Your first reaction is to call the fire department and within minutes, they show up at your house. Some firefighters start battling the flames engulfing your house, while others rush into the flames searching for you and anyone else in your family, including your pets. This is just another day at the office for the firefighters but for you it’s a traumatic event and you can’t thank the firefighters enough for saving your life.
I slowly opened the door to my closet not sure of what I was going to encounter. I was hoping Narnia would be at the other end but at the opening of the door I heard stuff rumble and fall. Scared to see what was happening behind the door I took a deep breath in and knew what I was going to face was going to be no joke. There it was, all the clothes, shoes, toys, blankets, and paperwork at my feet. Everything was stacked up beginning to fall like my life as soon as I opened the closet. Slowly inhaling and exhaling I knew this was going to be a difficult task to accomplish but not impossible.
On July 6, 2013, Asiana flight 214 was on approach to land at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), San Francisco, California, when they struck a seawall and crashed. Out of the 291 passengers only three were fatally injured while “40 passengers, 8 of the 12 flight attendants, and 3 flight crewmembers received serious injuries” *. Had it not been for the Aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) personnel working diligently to save the lives of the survivors, many more lives would have been lost due to post-crash hazards and injuries.
Since 9/11 is soon upon us and that other countries are having terrorist attacks, I want to see how a bystander felt in that moment.
I was put incharge of spraying water on the bombs, in order to attempt to save them. I was spraying the bombs like my life depended on it because it did. My crew and I pulled out the hoses, but since no one had inspected these hoses for such a long time, they had filled with salt water, which had rotted them from sitting for so long. As soon as the pressure was applied the hose exploded. People were engulfed in flames, for I thought it was over for me. There was no way I thought I could possibly live through this disaster. There was no where I could turn; I was surrounded by fire and the ocean, nowhere was safe. The captain told me to do something and I did it. It seemed like we were fighting off the fire for an eternity; seconds felt like years, but in all reality it was only a few
house as it started to burn. I just lay there as the siren got closer
These days before we were about to leave were very very hectic for my parents. There was a gigantic snow storm coming so my parents had to make a different flight for a day earlier so they decided to surprise us a day earlier. As my parents set the boxes in front of us we ripped open the large cardboard box. There was a long paper note that we read silently to ourselves. You hear our loud breaths as we slowly read the sheet of paper. On the note it read “Get ready get set, were going to Disney World, start packing were leaving tomorrow, the magic is waiting” My older sister and I realized it first while my younger sister still tried to figure it out. Suddenly you hear the loudest, happiest screams so loud people
Gunshots had fired rapidly by the drunk driver and his three friends. We all heard someone say “Everybody on the ground and don’t move”. I made sure the gunmen didn’t see me. I took a look up
This shows that a group of people are affected too by this situation. These rescue workers work their butt off trying to save as many people as they can. Some may go against this because it is their job and it is what they do. Well yeah, you got a point there it is what they do. But if we had more people who knew about the dangers and tried as best as they could to be safe, those rescue workers wouldn’t be dead.
Even with no knowledge of who those people are in a burning building those men in heavy gear are willing to lose their lives for others in need of help with many obstacles in their path. In the same fashion, there are other ways to show what altruism is.
It was an average school day at Lakeview Elementary in Yorba Linda, California. I was learning about writing essays, just like every other normal Tuesday. RING RING! The bell rang, informing the students to move to their designated math classes, which required going outside and walking around the building. As I was moving to mine the sky exploded. BAM! Lightning struck a couple miles out. I did not believe that there could really be a lightning storm in southern California, so I kept casually walking. Then, rain started to pour out of the sky and the wind was howling like a wolf. At this point I go into a faster walk because I thought, “It’s only rain what’s the worst that could happen.” Trees were swaying back and forth as though they were
I so happened to be in the line of fire. Then, I felt the collision it was a solid crack , I felt the rock making such strong impact to my head. Then falling down in the mix of the other rocks.
