Curtis Jackson, 26 (more commonly known as 50 Cent) has made a huge
impact on the hip hop industry. He was born July 6th, 1976, on the
south side of Jamaica, Queens. Nearby residents of Queens have
described it as the main area for all the to-be drug dealers.
50's excellentmajor-label debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin', sold 2.1
million copies in its first three weeks, breaking record sales in
America. Only last year the well-known hip-hop artists/ producers
signed him to a joint label deal. They have helped propel his career
and put 50 into the limelight. Eminem featured 50 Cent's Ja Rule diss
"Wanksta" on the soundtrack to 8 mile. Dr dre produced the debut
single from "Get Rich or Die Tryin' ", "In Da Club" and it went
platinum in a little over a week.
Unlike a lot of other rap artists though 50's lyrics about drugs,
shootings, and jail are true to life. His mother was only 15 when he
was born and a drug dealer. She murdered when 50 was just 8 years old.
50 then moved in with his grandparents only to start dealing himself
when he was 12. In 1994 50 cent was arrested on drug charges and was
sent to juvenile boot camp.
After his arrest he started rapping on the streets with friends. The
to-be-superstar was noticed by Jam Master Jay of Run DMC (who was
murdered only last October) and was soon rapping in the studio.
Unfortunately just before his debut album was about to be released 50
Cent was shot 9 times. The shootings were rumoured to be because of a
drug feud between 50 and some dealers the bullets hit him on his hand,
hip, chest, legs and face. The bullet in his face resulted in the
unique slur in his voice that 50 is famous for.
Because 50 was in hospital for so long, he was unable to promote his
debut album and his record label dropped him. Soon after his recovery
he started working on some new music.
While he was in the gang he dropped out of school. In the gang he got in a lot of trouble. He got arrested for the first time in 1957 after a gang fight. From then on he got arrested a lot in 1958 he was Convicted of burglary and given probation. In 1959 arrested for the first time as an adult for unlawful assembly in a raid at a gambling location.
In 1997 he went to the Rap Olympics in Los Angeles where a few producers were very impressed and took a demo to Dr. Dre. After the two met, they recorded four songs within the first six hours of working together, creating his first album Marshall Mathers LP. That album was the first rap album to ever be nominated for “Album of the Year” and won 3 Grammy awards. In the first week the album was released, it sold 1.76 million copies in the U.S. which is a record for a solo artist. Eminem has released 10 albums, all rap music. He would spend hours...
He was introduced to the life of drugs and crime at the age of 16, where he stayed and didn’t look back until, in 1992, he decided to leave the world of drugs and crime. Soon after doing this, he began looking for a record deal as a solo artist. But Shawn just wasn’t getting lucky. It wasn't until a friend, Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, convinced him to form a record company with him that Jay-Z's career finally got off the ground. Jay-Z released his first single through Roc-A-Fella in 1995, "In My Lifetime." It was a hit in New York, and helped Dash secure a distribution deal for Jay-Z’s first album, “Reasonable Doubt.”
Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in New York City to Afeni Shakur, a Black Panther member since 1968. She gave birth to him 2 months after she was released from Women’s House of Detentions in Grenwich Village. She was charged with conspiracy to bomb several New York public locations and just had her bail revoked. In court she represented herself and won against the state of New York in a surprising turn out. In Incan dialect, his name Tupac Amaru means “shining serpent” and Shakur is Arabic for “thankful to God.” For most of his childhood his crack addicted mother shuffled Tupac between the ghettos of Harlem and the Bronx. Young Tupac began his performance career with the 127th Street Ensemble and then enrolled Baltimore School for the Arts where he was educated in ballet and acting. Tupac was forced to drop out of the school because he had to move to California with his mother, where his criminal career began. He left his house at the age of 17 because of the continuous fights with his mother he then began selling/doing drugs, and was homeless for about 2 years. His life was spiraling down wards at a rapid rate. Till one day he got his big break. Tupac always dreamt about being famous someday, now his dream was becoming a reality. He struck a recording deal with Interscope records. He was on his way to super stardom, but as we all know with fame comes problems. He was involved in the shooting of two off duty police officers, although the chargers were later dropped. He was also convicted of rape, and sentenced to 5 years in Clinton Correctional Facilities.

On January 8, 1935, Elvis Aron Presley was born. From his small start as the son of farmers to his rise to fame, Elvis’ life was not picture perfect. It was riddled with prescription drug use, severe weight loss and weight gain, and depression. Elvis was a man who was always in the spot light; he wooed the ladies and basked in the constant media attention. As a therapist, I would consider using one of the following therapies to aid Elvis into recover: Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Positive Psychotherapy. Elvis was a pioneer in Rock and Roll who was experiencing many mental health problems that could have been resolved or managed before his death with the proper psychotherapy.
Tupac’s first big break came when he joined the group Digital Underground as a dancer and roadie. During that time, Tupac spent a lot of the time composing his own poetry and lyrics to launch his own career. In 1991 he signed with Interscope records and a year later he released his first album 2Pacalypse Now, which immediately landed him
He may just seem like another rapper to you but if you actually listen to his lyrics you can see he’s not like any rapper out there. His name is Kanye West and he was born in Chicago Illinois. He grew up in the “ghetto” and learned to appreciate life. He didn’t learn to really, truly appreciate life until October of 2002. Driving back to his hotel late one night after a recording session, the new-coming rap/hip-hop artist was involved in a devastating, near fatal car accident. The crash left him with a broken jaw in three places and an appreciation for life. Just weeks after being released from the hospital he recorded his first major hit, “Through the Wire,” with his mouth still wired shut. He records every song like its going to be his last song and that makes every song better than the last. He’s not only a rap artist but also a producer. He has been responsible for being behind songs like Jay-Z’s Izzo, Girls, Girls, Girls, The Takeover, and 03 Bonnie and Clyde.
“ Poverty, murder, violence and never a day 2 rest.” Those were the words of Tupac Shakur, a legendary rapper. He is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-selling rap artist, with over 75 million albums sold worldwide, including over 50 millions in the United States alone. Most of Shakur's songs are about growing up around violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, problems in society, and sometimes qualms with other rappers. Shakur's work is known for advocating political, economic, social, and racial equality as well as his raw descriptions of violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and conflicts with the law. Many fans, critics, and industry insiders rank him as the greatest rapper ever.

Dr. Dre (b. Andre Young, February 18, 1965) became involved in hip-hop during the early '80s, performing at house parties and clubs with the World Class Wreckin' Cru around South Central Los Angeles, and making a handful of recordings along the way. In 1986, he met Ice Cube, and the two rappers began writing songs for Ruthless Records, a label started by former drug pusher Eazy-E. Eazy tried to give one of the duo's songs, "Boyz N the Hood," to HBO, a group signed to Ruthless. When the group refused, Eazy formed N.W.A. -- an acronym for Niggaz With Attitude -- with Dre and Cube, releasing their first album in 1987. A year later, N.W.A. delivered Straight Outta Compton, a vicious hardcore record that became an underground hit with virtually no support from radio, the press or MTV. N.W.A. became notorious for their hardcore lyrics, especially those of "Fuck tha Police," which resulted in the FBI sending a warning letter to Ruthless and its parent company Priority, suggesting that the group should watch their step.

Michael Jackson is one of my favorite singers. He is very famous, so most of all people in the world know him, at least his name. I began to listen to his songs because I was recommended them by my friend, and I was really attracted by them. I have two reasons why I like him.
