It was a matinee game at the Wells Fargo Center and just when you think you're going to see Manning vs. McDavid Round 3, Brandon Manning was scratched. But that storyline wasn't fantastic anyway as the Flyers earned their 5th win of the season and are now 3-1 on the 5-game homestand. Here are five takeaways from Saturday afternoon's game. 5 Takeaways from Flyers vs. Oilers Wayne Simmonds is really just so clutch it hurts. He currently has four of the Flyers' five game-winning goals this season and Saturday afternoon's goal was no different. The game-winner came from a lot of patience. He's been injured with a lower-body injury and was hit in the face with a rogue stick in the Predators game. Nevertheless, he's been a bit banged up, but keeps going out every game and fighting. That man is a legend. The Flyers were a different team in all three periods on Saturday afternoon. They looked aggressive and made some great shots on net in the first period, but the second period just looked way too sloppy, especially against the talent that is on the Oilers' roster. There were many turnovers in the neutral zone and the Flyers spent too much of the second period in their own zone. It was a mix of both periods in the third for the Flyers, but they were able to be patient and scored the game-winning goal. …show more content…
Hagg had a bunch of great hits, blocks on shots and also made a great pass to Jori Lehtera that led to the game-winning goal. He was also smart to just hold onto the puck for as long as he could at the end of the game. The pairing of Hagg and Gostisbehere is definitely the Flyers' top defensive pairing this season. It's incredibly important to see how Gostisbehere has been able to be a part of the offense, especially with a partner like Hagg who is playing so
Not long after Gretzky arrived, the franchise closed its doors and sold its young asset to the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. “In the fall of 1979, Gretzky embarked on his first full NHL season As he had at every other level, he quickly started to dominate the competition, racking up an astonishing 51 goals and 86 assists, on his way to winning the league's Hart Memorial Trophy, an award recognizing its most valuable player,” (“Wayne Gretzky Biography”). It was the first time in history a first-year player had ever been honored with the award. Gretzky went on to win the Hart Memorial Trophy nine more times over the span of his career. To this day, he still holds the record for the most times that specific award has been given to an individual (Getz).
Maurice was angered by this but chose to perform his duties completely and even though he used to arrive late, angry and tired for the game, he transformed his aggression into motivation and scored the winning goals that clinched the victory over their only unbeaten team.

It was Sunday, February 10, 2008 here in Buffalo at the HSBC Arena. The Buffalo Sabres were playing the Florida Panthers. Thousands of spectators cheered as Buffalo took a 4-3 lead. People consider the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to be one of the greatest things to happen in U.S Olympic history. Their game against the Soviets is known as "The Miracle on Ice." The world was stunned when the United States defeated the Soviets in the semi-final game of the 1980 Olympics. The Soviets hadn't been beaten in the gold medal game in years. This miracle game is still greatly known around the world and will not be forgotten by Americans any time soon.
When Eruzione scored winning goal, a scene of intense happiness broke out everywhere in the country. There were 10 minutes left, but the Soviets weren't able to score a goal; they had several chances to tie the game, but the USA grew stronger and more confident as time went on. A miracle had just occurred, one which will probably not happen for a very long time.

When Paul Henderson scored the final goal for team Canada, every Canadian who was old enough to remember felt the joy and relief that was upon every Canadian who watched that game. Paul Henderson was one of the 38 players of the Canadian team that played against the Soviet Union in the series. The first four games were played across Canada and finishing up the series with the last four games in Russia. Canada wins the emotional series with four wins, three losses, and one tie. The 1972 Summit Series changed the face of hockey from how the players were trained, the level of emotion in the fans and players, and the skill of each player.
Many hockey purists thought that no one would ever be able to match Richard’s stellar season, but 36 years later in 1981 the New York Islanders sharp shooting Mike Bossy duplicated the feat, scoring two goals in the final five minutes of the 50th game of the season to become the second player ever to score 50 goals in 50 games. He finished the season with 68 goals. Most hockey fans couldn’t believe Bossy’s achievement, and were sure the feat wouldn’t be matched for the longest time. And the fans couldn’t have been more wrong.
After several weeks of hard work, opening day was finally here and the Miners had been playing terrible hockey. By the end of the first period the Miners were trailing 3-0, but by the end of the game the Miners had lost 8-1. Even though Will had scored the only point for the Miners, he was furious. He had never lost a game that badly, and planned to do whatever it took to never lose that bad again.
Since the United States isn’t very powerful in the field of hockey, this event is merely celebrated throughout the country. If the tiniest things hadn’t of went our way, the ending would be a completely different story. The best call was deciding to put in Mark Johnson in the end of the first quarter. Not only did he play incredibly, but he scored the goal to tie the game at three to three. The coach of this team is Herb
...slapshot from the point. Two minutes later the puck broke loose from one of the other team's defensman and landed on our most talented player’s stick. He is not only as fast as lightning but can also stick handle around any NHL team blindfolded. He made a quick move to the left, and then to the right. He took the shot which went top shelf on the right side. The second I saw the net move I knew we had done it. The underdog team defeated the 1st ranked team in the state championship game for Missouri high school hockey. An uproar from the mob of people could have been heard from two miles away. I couldn’t believe we had done it. We beat the odds, and took the cup. I felt shivers travel down my bruised and cut body. The hard work did pay off, for we had done it. The tears were flowing like the water dropping from the Niagara Falls. We were State Champions.
I woke up and got dressed for the game, I put on my shorts, gathered all my equipment, and made a game plan for the big game. I thought to myself, “I need to play the best game of my life and never quit.” I went downstairs and heard a car honking outside. I went to the door, put on my cleats, and went outside. My friend George and I got out of the car and put on our equipment, and went to start practicing. I was the goalie so of course I have the biggest responsibility on the field. I knew I had to step up and make a lot of saves.
Research philosophy, refers to the development of knowledge adopted by the researchers in their research (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, 2009). In other words, it is the theory that used to direct the researcher for conducting the procedure of research design, research strategy, questionnaire design and sampling (Malhotra, 2009). It is very important to have a clear understanding of the research philosophy so that we could examine the assumptions about the way we view the world, which are contained in the research philosophy we choose, knowing that whether they are appropriate or not (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, 2009). According to Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill (2009), three major ways of thinking about research philosophy are examined: ontology, epistemology and axiology. Each of them carries significant differences which will have an impact on the way we consider the research procedures. Ontology, “is concerned with nature of reality”, while epistemology “concerns what constitutes acceptable knowledge in a field of study and axiology “studies judgements about value” (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, 2009, p110, p112, p116). This study is intent on creating some “facts” from objective evaluations which are made by the subjects. Therefore, epistemology will be chosen for this study as the way of thinking about the research philosophy.
