It's no surprise that most college students aren't rolling in cash. Still, those poor college students get cravings for real dessert once in a while. Cravings that even the Forbidden Fudge Brownie from Friendly's can’t satisfy.

Step inside the chipped red door to the ding of an authentic Swiss bell. Take in the doughy smell of rising pastry, and the hum of refrigerators filled with cakes smothered in chocolate icing and flower fondant. There's a reason why Swiss Chalet has stuck around for thirty two years, earning "Morris County's Best Bakery."Get there in the morning, around ten o'clock (beat the early morning crowd), grab a perfectly chewy, not-overly-sweet cream cheese filled danish with streusel and white icing on top($2.25). If it's sunny, and if there's still room, head outside to one of the little tables on the sidewalk. If you didn't blow your remaining $3.75 on the other treats in the glass case, get a cup of joe, that according to Mark(a regular), will "taste go...

You probably wouldn't want to show up at Soho wearing college sweats, even if they're clean--it's more like an upscale restaurant (read: not like your cafeteria). Even so, it's not hard to find a tasty dessert for under six dollars--plus a little cash for a tip, as you'll have a waiter. Try a slice of classic, creamy cheesecake ($5.95) or a tempting, moist slice of 24 Karrat Cake ($5.95)--three layers interposed with cream cheese icing. The most impressive of all deserts here, however, is the Caramel Granny (which doesn't show up on the website menu, by the way): fresh sliced granny apples baked in a buttery caramel toffee sauce and lined with a flaky sourdough crust. And of course, it's served warm, with a melting scoop of vanilla Haagen Daaz ice cream. Yes, it's only $5.95. Looks like even college students can have their cake, and eat, it too--all for under $6.
Once in a while a person gets weird craving. Chocolate to chips might cross one’s mind, but sadly it falls under junk food. People receive limited amount of money each month. Not every person receives the same amount of money. Others might receive more money for different reasons. From reasons to a big family to others earning less money at their job.
The University of a Florida offers meal plans for students who wish to have a meal ready for them rather than worrying about what they are going to eat, or perhaps cook, throughout the day. The problem with this idea however, is that students oftentimes do not take full advantage of this system. Whether it is cooking, eating out, or even going home on the weekends, there are several factors that can get in the way of taking full advantage of the meal plan. This dilemma often leaves families asking the same question: is buying the meal plan that is provided by colleges actually worth the money? While buying a meal plan for college appears to make sense for many incoming freshmen, it does not always translate into the most efficient use of their money.

The thing that is special about this pizzeria is that they only offer you pizza pies. They sell nothing else; you can’t even get a slice there, its just either a small, medium, or large pie. Some may be discouraged about this, but the thing that makes this place very unique is how they have over 50 different combinations of toppings for your pizza pie. From anchovies to zucchini, you can get just about anything you ask for on your pie... that is as long as they have it.

The anticipation of attending college floods teenagers with numerous thoughts. Living on their own, going to class when they please, staying out as late as they want, and surviving on food the dining hall provides or what they buy at the grocery store. More free time, or lack there of, may bring students spinning downwards towards bad eating habits and malnutrition. Rolling out of bed five minutes before class means grabbing a coffee on the way. Too much homework or a big project might mean skipping a healthy dinner and cooking some Ramen noodles or snacking on chips all night. This is where the “convenience foods” come in which are factory made dishes or meals that only need to be heated up or need just one or two additional ingredients.
Finding time to eat in college can sometimes be a challenge. It is a new environment, sometimes you feel rushed, and you may even have a heavy and hectic schedule. While you are on the run, it is normally easiest to grab something while you're out; fast food is something that is consumed a lot. This becomes a habit and an everyday recurrence, which is very unhealthy for you. When this becomes a routine it is easy to loose track and the weight starts piling on; the monstrous freshman

A well balanced diet is the cornerstone to a healthy lifestyle, yet many college students believe they don’t have the time or money to eat healthy meals on a regular basis. This belief often drives students to choose the cheapest and quickest food options available, these junk foods generally offer little to no nutrition (Miller). Many students also end up gaining weight over the course of their college years, because the majority of the foods they consume are high in empty calories and fats (Miller). There are many ways to improve a person’s diet, most of which require little effort and less money than one would expect. One of these options is making sure to drink a large amount of water, which “can help boost … concentration as well as keep you from overeating” (101 Health). Another way to maintain a good diet is remembering not to “skip meals,” eating three meals a day is good for a person’s health, furthermore it’s suggested that you partake in healthy snacks throughout the day ...
With 136 booth choices, each offering 5-10 menu items, it’s no wonder locals and out-of-towners alike make a point of attending at least a night or two every year.

First of all, students aren’t motivated to eat unhealthy, not-tasty food. If you observed students buying lunch in the cafeteria, you don’t often see them buying these kinds, but not limited to, foodstuffs: burritos (which are just beans wrapped in tortillas), “burgers” (meat slapped on two slices of bread), etc. Even the chicken nuggets aren’t very popular. And the prices! $3.75-$4.75 is not worth such “garbahge”, as a teacher would say. Out of the twenty five students I surveyed, 56% stated that they would like to see their cafeteria changed. The reasons being were, “The same stuff everyday – it gets boring”, “Tastes like plastic”, ...
...d consumption, it is no surprise college students have trouble maintaining a healthy diet once they are on their own. Whether they struggle with overeating, consuming the more affordable but less nutritious junk food, or an eating disorder, they are harming their bodies in ways that may not be immediately apparent but are very likely to cause health problems later in life. In addition to this, eating too much of the wrong types of food or not eating at all can have a detrimental impact on schoolwork, social life, and general well being. With proper nutritional guidance and healthier options at campus dining spots, perhaps students would be able to have a better handle on managing their own health. Until all college campuses have these resources, poor eating habits will continue to be the most important, and most common, health issue that college students face today.
