Recommended: Barriers to colin powell's leadership
All great leaders have a vision whether it be Mandela’s vision to eradicate racism and establish a constitutional democracy or Genghis Khan’s vision of the largest contiguous empire. Vision gives individuals a purpose and creates a type of sincerity that cannot be overlooked by both their allies and their opponents. Like all great leaders Che Guevara had a vision of what the world he lived in could be like. He imagined a world where not only the nuclear family cared about individual’s welfare, but the greater community cared. Che believed the best way to achieve this goal in Cuba was a socialist reform.
In Colin Powell’s 13 Life Rules for Any Future he stated, “Have a vision and be demanding.” Che Guevara did just this. Che rejected the authoritarian
On July 26, 1953, the war for Cuba’s independence began, and for 6 years many Cubans fought for their freedom. The most famous of these revolutionary icons being Fidel Castro, who led the main resistance against the Cuban government. On January 1, 1959, Fidel Castro and the rest of the Cuban's succeeded. This revolutionary war went on to affect the entire world and Eric Selbin believes it is still affecting it. Throughout Eric Selbin's article, Conjugating the Cuban Revolution, he firmly states that the Cuban revolution is important in the past, present, and future. Selbin, however, is wrong.
Che Guevara attempted to have a revolution in Bolivia and Guatemala. In Mexico, he trained for his return to Cuba in 1956. The textbook also mentions how Fidel Castro formed local camps as a new revolutionary power (510). They continued to fight in urban areas. It was not until 1959 where they defeated Batista and his government. Many people were happy because Fidel Castro became the president of Cuba. The Cuban people had faith in Fidel Castro to improve the state of Cuba and benefit the people unlike Batista. The Caribbean: A History of the Region and Its People state that, “In 1958 almost all Cubans agreed that a renewed Cuban nationalism would approve their future,”
"Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot un-educate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. And you cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore."—From "Lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." speech by César Chávez, January 12, 1990
Persuasion Throughout history there have been many struggles for freedom and equality. There was the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King Jr. There was the fight against government censorship in Argentina, spoken against by Luisa Valenzuela. And there was the struggle for women's equality in politics, aided by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.
Because of his wild, romantic appearance, his dashing style, and his unwillingness to bend to any kind of establishment, Che became a legend and an idol for the revolutionary—and even the merely discontented—youth of the later 1960s and early 70's. He was a focus for the kind of desperate revolutionary action which seemed, to millions of young people, the only hope of destroying the world of middle class industrial capitalism and communism.
...wing its mandates. These same oppressions are still happening today. People in America, as well as other countries around the world, still face unjust treatment from their governments. An example can be seen with the Taliban banning Pakistani girls from attending school. In protest to this, Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl, refused to follow these rules, and even began a blog for the British Broadcasting Corporation, detailing her life under Taliban rule. In response to her protest, a gunman approached her, and shot her three times. This assassination attempt started a global movement in support of Yousafzai and her beliefs. Like Thoreau, Gandhi, King, and Yousafzai, one must realize when others are being oppressed and take action against those in power who oppress the people they rule. Otherwise, there will never be change, and the world will never see justice.
Ernesto "Che" Guevara, a doctor and revolutionary in Bolivia, was assassinated by the American CIA for many political reasons, thus becoming a legend and idol after the Latin American Revolution. In the United States Che is remembered only as a relic of the 1960 revolution. In Europe he became a pop icon among the youth with little or no historical reference. Only in Cuba does his legacy stand for the hope and faith of the Latin American people.
...should either live the life of those that they rule, as an equal, or as a superior allow the necessary input of those whom they rule, to decide the best course of action, as is done in a democracy.
... was not the best person on Earth, nor was he the worst person as portrayed in the news. The same type of repetition and emphasizing could have been done to portray Hugo Chavez as the greatest leader in the world. If Hugo Chavez actions and objectives were more publicize, then his representation in the media would not have been a evil dictator who is against the U.S, rather it would be man who wanted to help the poor and tried to find peace within nations. Stone states that “the changes that occurred in Venezuela reflect the true spirit of the country’s people. Venezuela was ranked 7.6 on a scale of 1 to 10, in the level of democracy. They placed their democracy higher than any other Latin American.” Stone, Scott, Boykoff, Sheehan, and Dwyer represent Hugo Chavez as a victim of media corruption, but a fighter for still succeeding while being targeted.
“A totalitarian system can only maintain itself by means of terror and a system of informers while the masses are inert, but once the masses move into action it is the beginning of the end.”
"Each contact with a human being is so rare, so precious, one should preserve it."(Anais Nin). This means that every person one comes in contact with has an influence on his life. One should never forget the people who go out of their way to be nice to them.

Every person in their life will have life scripts that will either help you or set you back from your major goal in life. Many people have never even heard of life scripts before. This was the case for me, I have never heard of these until I took this class. Ever since I have took this class my life has been way easier since I have identified my life script. Many people have had their opinions on scripts throughout the years. Such as Skip Downing, Sarah Wilson, Claude Steiner, and Claire Newton. These four educated scholars are who I have been reading, to figure out what are scripts, how they are formed, and what impact they have on our lives. Some of you may ask what technically is a life script. According to Claire Newton a life script is
...uch about what others thought about us, and how closely we follow popular culture we could listen more closely to what our heart wants to do. And if we could exemplify the absurd characteristics: revolt, freedom, and pleasure in our lives we could live life more fully: By revolting against tomorrow we can come to terms with the present moment. By expressing our freedoms, we can then be set free. And by finding the pleasures in life, we can finally start living the life we always wanted to live.
Anderson’s Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life is both a perceptive and definitive biography on the life of Che Guevara. Anderson has written a very thorough and engaging book, separating the myth from the man. Anderson has talked directly with many important people in Guevara's life, including his wives and the wife of the man who executed him. Even after his death Che’s life continues to illuminate in history as a symbol of revolutionary communism.
