The Galactic Federation cruiser Nova Lord disintegrates in the upper atmosphere of the planet Arcterra as it is dwarfed out by Dark Samus’ flagship, the Annihilator. The cruiser was on a mission to attack the flagship. However, it underestimated the ship’s firepower, and was promptly captured after a brief skirmish. A laser shot rings out aboard the bridge of the Annihilator, and is followed instantaneously by the collapse of a Galactic Federation prisoner to the floor, a black scorch between his eyes. Weavel swings his pistol back into his holster, as Sylux silently forces Federation commando Ron Wyatt to his knees. The bridge doors open, revealing three ominous characters: Noxus, Trace, and Dark Samus herself. Wyatt stared into Dark Samus’ eyes. The red glow omitting from her black-silver helmet stared back. Dark Samus’ eyes could not be seen; her hate, greed, and power-hungry nature had caused her eyes to turn to a shade of bright crimson red, so bright her eyes were invisible to all who look upon her. “Why hesitate? Just finish this.” Wyatt says with unease. Dark Samus walks slowly to him, raising her left hand against his face, calmly stroking it. “In time, Wyatt. In time. First…I need something from you. Something precious…” Dark Samus cackled over her vocoder. The dark figure takes a couple of steps in front of Wyatt, before releasing a heavy sigh. Her tall figure lumbers over to a control console, and she inputs a small code. A hatch opens in the bridge wall, and a Metroid appears. Wyatt glances up, and almost instantly Dark Samus senses the fear sweeping over Wyatt. Metroids were infamous for being some of the deadliest creatures, especially in their younger stages; the deadly claws on their underside latch... ... middle of paper ... ...Her arm cannon opens at the front to reveal a large Kriken Combat Blade, a stainless steel blade capable of cutting through even the strongest materials like butter. The tyrannical figure places her left hand on Wyatt’s shoulder, while stroking the steel blade against his sweat-covered face. Are you going to kill me or not? Or are you to cowardly to do so? Just finish this… Dark Samus continues stroking his face for several moments before taking several steps backs on the bridge floor towards Noxus, Trace, and the other Hunters. After several more agonizingly long moments for Wyatt, Dark Samus swung the killing blow, decapitating Wyatt instantly. The commando’s head falls onto the floor, a blood trail closely following the severed head. Blood spurted out of the corpse’s jugular vein, as Dark Samus stood for several minutes over the fallen commando’s corpse.
A young, blonde woman stands with her fists raised. She shifts her weight back and forth, staying in constant motion. Her jaw is set and her blue eyes dangerous. She faces her opponent with no fear. Her fellow combatant is a skilled warrior and a member of a Shirai Ryu clan. He’s spent years mastering his own special style of martial arts. The woman observes him carefully. He’s muscular and, no doubt, fast. She cannot see most of his face, as a gold and black mask obscures it, but she can see his eyes. They’re merciless. She eyes the harpoon at his hip. He’ll probably go for that first and try to stun her with it. The cue is given and, sure enough, he grabbed his harpoon and aimed it at her, snarling, “Get over here!” She’d anticipated his moves well and she sidestepped his harpoon. He figured out that she knew his obvious attacks, he began to use more quick attacks, moving quickly in the shadows, confusing her. He soon overpowers her. Dazed and dizzy, she is at his mercy. Unfortunately, mercy is a quality he lacks. He wraps his harpoon around her neck and opens a portal. She’s pulled into it and he holds onto his chain tightly. Another portal opens above and her body dangles from it, strung up by his chain. The announcer’s voice lets out in a deep grumbling voice, “Fatality”. Meanwhile, in a living room, the gruesome scene fades to black and two friends laugh at each other for the graphic execution and go on playing the newest release of the Mortal Kombat series.

A popular ancient Japanese saying states that “The sword is the soul of the warrior.” (Buchanan 120) The warrior in the proverb pertains to the samurai of feudal Japan and the sword refers to their most prominent weapon, the Katana. An ancient blade made through a complicated forging process, the Katana is truly a work of art. Also known as the Japanese long sword or the samurai sword, the Katana is a curved, single-edged blade with ridges along its exterior. It is primarily used as a weapon to cut down or slash its foes (Robinson 28). The ridges along the blade, called the hamon, divides the soft metal components, the shingane, from the hadagane of the hard metal components used to forge the sword to give it its trademark razor sharp edge and flexibility (Turnbull 12). The blade of the Katana is around sixty to seventy centimeters in length and is often likened to the arc of the new moon. With its signature curved edge and its fusion of hard and soft metals, the Katana is considered to be the greatest offensive weapon ever created (O’Neill 114,116). It is a hallmark of Japanese sword history and is a noteworthy aspect of Japanese craftsmanship. The Japanese Katana is an important symbol of Japanese culture whose significance must be asserted.
The heavyweight, airtight bay door of the W.G. Scyld closed. The circular spacecraft detached from the Angel on My Shoulder repair base above Gyth, a tidally locked exoplanet orbiting a red dwarf star. In addition to the light sails retracting, the Scyld’s ion thrusters simultaneously fired a short burst as the ship moved away toward the Einstein-Rosen Dark Matter Bridge.
"Oh", he whispered. "You better get going then or else the boss will be furious."
"Get over here!" The angered and scratchy voice bellows from deep within the strong, mean-spirited ninja. The ninja throws forth a blade that is fastened to the end of a long, black rope. The sharp point of the spear pierces the skin and takes root deep within the stomach of a screaming, young woman. Blood splatters from the impact, and the ninja forcefully retrieves the blade by pulling on the rope to which it is attached. The shrieking, young woman is lurched forward, attached still to the steel blade and without the ability to defend herself. Currently, she stands paralyzed and helpless at the hands of her attacker.
Jake squinted and reached a hand to Dallas, grabbing his shirt. “Keep her away from me—or I swear—you’re finished.”
It was menacing, in a way” (Rothfuss 6). With this same description, one could also accurately portray Kvothe. Like the sword, Kvothe is unassuming. He is now Kote, a common innkeeper rather than a hero of stories. Yet also like the sword, he holds a hidden danger within him, a sharpness.
Looking out the cracked windshield, the crew marvels at the size of Reynes. It’s so much larger than they would have imagined. Its tall glass buildings capture the setting sunlight, reflecting it back outwards in a spectacular display of dancing orange and yellow twinkles.

She enters the hall where the warriors are sleeping. They wake in time to ward off the attack with their swords but the monster manages to escape with one victim in her claws (this is Aeschere).
